It's not their fault, they let a Templar sleeper cell in, who killed the mentor and showed abstergo where most of the Assassin hideouts were, leading to the "Great Purge". Still, the assassins have rose from lower depths, and now they have Desmond, who has pretty much been taking lessons from Ezio. If the Templars think they've won, they have another thing coming.
