How can you not love this ground and song. You really get a sense of what humans can be if they work together listening to this. Not to mention what a truly romantic song.
This is very inspirational to watch. I have been out of SA for 7 years now and watching this makes me miss home and also gives me hope that things could change for the better SA so everyone can live together peacefully.

Nka ho rapela fela. Nka ho rapela that this vibration of healing and love will find it's way to America...re e hloka mo...in New Orleans re na le buntu and from here we can project it up the Mississippi and across THIS broken land...broken with greed and the relentless desire for money. Ke hopotse haholo South Africa. The sun is rising in the East, and it is Africa. Ntate modimo, re lebohile.
This video is a true reflection of what life is like in South Africa. We laugh, dance, sing and appreciate each other's differences. Freshlyground makes us proud to be South African
I still don't see how there's really cool new artists from africa like this band, akon , etc yet they picked shakira to interpret the world cup offical song. They should have picked an african artist or band to represent the entire continent. Now if the world cup had been hosted in south america then I wouldnt complain about shakira.
@lolitapink1985 for what its worth, waka waka was shakira ft freshly ground incase you didnt know. Woulda been better if it was freshly ground ft shakira but i guess shakira has more star power. Anyway, waka waka was the reason I heard of this band so i am grateful for that.

Anyway, love you guys!! Anyone that has not been to a live show has to go before they die... Lol! Definitely on the top ten list of things to do before you die!! Whether they are live or you're listening to a cd, Freshlyground 'spirit' flows into you through your ears and into your soul!
I will be a Freshlyground fan even when the fire is out!
Usually black people and their different style of music just can't get into my mind nor playlist... But here and now is this golden moment that I discover myself adding this joyous song... I couldn't resist this cute voice of the leadsinger.
This is absolutlely amazing. Thanks to Fifas theme song waka waka i was introduced to this band. i really enjoy this and havent been able to stop listening to them for the last 3 days. . .cant wait to pick up an instrument again and start adding this type of music into my own!!! thanks for the inspiration!!!
This song is one of the most moving performances I`ve ever heard. I am in complete love with this song. The video shows the true happy feelings of all band members. The lyrics are so real and true. The music makes me want to move. I want to hear this song over and over again. The clapping adds to the reality of the musicians and composers. I am in love.
i have never seen two women more beautiful because of theIr talent and brains then these two ladies. here in america we are stuck on beauty due to outer exterior and impossible means of body image. nice to see there is still pure beauty in the world. I LOVE YOU FRESHLYGROUND!!!!!!! BE MY LOVE WHEN THE FIRE IS LOW!!!!
wow, im such a fan, im sharing with all my friends your message of good feelings and that we are all the same, worldwide. ty freshlyground, you are a treat.
Oh, wow, I love all their faces light up when they're smiling in this video. A group of friends playing with their hearts and loving every minute of it. I wish there were more groups like this one.
LOVE IT! Im American and I am always branching out, attempting to find beauty in the whole world. Thank goodness for youtube because in the states all we hear is the same stupid 25 pop/ Country songs over and over again. BLAH! Not all Americans are arrogant.
@81amandawalker YES! i thought i was the only one who was annoyed by all of this ridiculous, horrible-lyric pop music today. i really love freshlyground! it's nice to hear some good music for a change.
@HitsBeforetheRadio , I'm another American who LOVES this group. There a lot of "UnitedStaters" who know good music when we hear it.

@81amandawalker Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm glad to see another American with an appreciation for things not as superficial as the norm in the States!
It's really refreshing to hear something new. I'm in the US, and all the music seems to just blend together into a mainstream. It's like these guys just want to make music, not money. I love it, plain and simple.
@naomi13jf yeah i feel you, but paul simon was highly inspired by south-african music for his album Graceland. He actually recorded most of the album in South Africa...
sad how a lotta ppl r dissing americans for liking american music b4 others, n at t same time dissing others for liking american music b4 their own.. its just contradictory. n no, am not american.. proudly african without being judgemental. awsome song n glad others r discovering this group :) big up freshlyground!
Isn't it surprising how surprised we are every time we find out that we all have so much in common? Beautiful sound, beautiful voice, beautiful band. Giggidy.
And for those self-righteous idiots that think Americans live in seclusion, lest I remind you that 4 of the top 10 selling singles in America were by foreign artists. Americans love variety. Just because we aren't EXPERTS on YOUR country doesn't mean we don't take interest. There's a lot of countries out there and music, too. If you're from Belgium, you probably know about as much about Zimbabwe as we do.
In the United States, the world is the United States, their own music, musicians, their own sports, the reason Americans are very little informed outside their premises. Blame it the media. How did I know this?. I lived in the United States since '95 and traveled every state and city, and the average American can't tell if Africa is a continent or a country.
@Axmedkoole I am American, and what you just said is true, a lot of people will try to disagree with you but I agree! I have been thinking the same way for years.
I had the fortune to know this band at national geographic music channel (nat geo music) for 19 months, their great hit - doo be doo (not the full video). Yes there another channels to see videos and listen the songs. There are music of many countries passing in this channel. Mostly world music style. If you want to know more cultures, listen these songs.
Will never forget driving back from a client site to our offices in PE and one of my colleagues, when Doo Be Doo came on the radio, commented how she went to school with the lead singer. Love their music, can't wait until its on Amazon so I can get a copy! Every time I hear them I feel as if I'm back home in PE next to the braai, with good friends and the smell and sizzle of boerewors on the fire. Aikona wena. You can take the girl out of Africa but Africa will always be in the girl.

I love discovering new bands from other countries. Americans don't really feature them unless they come here first, collab with a known international artist that is famous in American, or have a song in a famous move. Or if they're Canadian. But I really like the optimism and music they portray, and the friendship between them. *off to download some Freshlyground music* :-)
@Mstwinkletoes18 In cold UK atm and missing home so but good tunes like this warm my soul being South African and glad other cultures appreciate it also. Genuine music like this from real people real musicians is so rare and should be promoted over the commercial drivel out there these days.
American here. I found this because a friend shared it on Facebook and I am happy to say I bought the album from FreshlyGround's site because I liked this so much.
i'm the same way as Lym0re but up in Canada. I didn't know about Freshly Ground until Waka Waka so I looked the band up on youtube and enjoyed there music ever since
WOW WHAT A SONG HEY, HEARD IT FOR THE ACCOUSTIC VERSION OF THIS SONG FOR THE "FIRST" TIME THIS MORNING ON SOME BREAKFAST SHOW ON SABC3, GAWSH ZOLANI, WHAT PASSION SHE'S GOT, AND WOW SHE CAN REALY CONNECT WITH AN AUDIENCE, DOWN TO EARTH SMILE, WOW AND NOW I JUST WATCHED THIS VID, GAWSH *nearly in tears* WOW I DIGG THE CONNEXION IN THE BAND..
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This band is one of the reasons I'm ashamed of being South African. They suck bigtime. Their the reason I hate the song Waka Waka (never listened to the song either), but I love Shakira because she's not from South Africa. And no I didn't watch the video. Britney Spears is a thousand times better. Totsiens.
How can you not love this ground and song. You really get a sense of what humans can be if they work together listening to this. Not to mention what a truly romantic song.

@Mstwinkletoes18 In cold UK atm and missing home so but good tunes like this warm my soul being South African and glad other cultures appreciate it also. Genuine music like this from real people real musicians is so rare and should be promoted over the commercial drivel out there these days.

This band is one of the reasons I'm ashamed of being South African. They suck bigtime. Their the reason I hate the song Waka Waka (never listened to the song either), but I love Shakira because she's not from South Africa. And no I didn't watch the video. Britney Spears is a thousand times better. Totsiens.
