I've been there last year on my school field trip it's really a fantastic place to go to, too bad the crack made the evacuation of people, especially the tourists who wanted to see that place, its a fantastic site.

Can we just all accept d FACT that DUBAI is SPECIAL becoz of its rapid economic development. And please STOP blaming the Emiratis for all the bad things happening in Dubai, they constitute only 20% of the total population. All the whining and hating about Dubai boil down to JEALOUSY. @7TechFreak no one, especially americans, are jealous of dirty dubai. a country where you import poor foreign workers, pay them nothing and hold their passports so they can't return. prostitution is legal, but dancing and regular internet use is not. it's always 120 degrees - yet woman are forced to wear five layers of black colored clothing - even at the gym! the streets were not designed well and the traffic is ridiculous, especially for a new city. there are no addresses. the list goes on..

@generallyanony, In Dubai , most of d construction companies r owned by expats , indians, pakistanis, british, egyptians, lebanese, palestinians businessmen, locals r only d sponsors ( u need a local sponsor so expats can operate a busines n Dubai), So why r u blaming again d locals ? My boss is a local and owns a big trading company n he really works hard to afford n enjoy all the luxuries his money can buy, so why blame locals if other business owners are not paying their staff properly?

eyelets1 - That's not totally true as many locals own businesses and when it comes to major companies they are all owned by locals. In the above video the mall is a Dubai World / Emaar owned project that is Shk Mohammed Maktoom directly.
That is not to say it is his fault that there is a leak in an Aquarium!

Anyway, the point in my previous post was that while the UAE DOES provide fantastic facilities for its nationals, there are hundreds of workers that are working in terrible conditions and are incapable of returning to their own countries due to the fact that their employees have their pass ports! Personally I find it slightly unjust that in a non capitalist country, where you could control this, you have people making under 300 dhs per month doing hard labour while locals can afford 10 cars!
