Technically these modern DeLoreans are made from "New Old Stock". Which is a good thing: that style is beautiful.

I have a lot of respect for these guys: they took a classic design and improved some of the longstanding issues, apparently: I'm guessing these newer models have better handling and acceleration, two of the bigger problems with the original run cars.

There are some heavyly modified ones out there that'll beat your friend's 928. Some were modified with aftermarket turbo kits. My friend has one with a twin turbo. There's one in Vegas with a 3.5 liter twin turbo Lotus V8.

Well the Delorean was a very pretty car but not fast. Its 2.8 liter V6 produced 175hp. Some had a turbo made by delorean aftermaket in 1982 boosting it up to 200hp. A 928 clocks in about 275hp so of course no contest. My favorite 928 was the 87-96. There is a game called Chase HQ which i spent a ton of quarters on debueting the 87 928. there some history for you!

@ModAidan The power ratings aren't quite what you'd expect. The Peugeot engines were initially spec'd 175 but US emissions killed the power ratings on those engines. A DMC-12 with emissions controls torn out is a much peppier car than the US version with full emissions equipment still intact.
