pennymusicMAma: First, I want to state that I love Sissel and everything she does including this song. I am a Sissel fan, always have been. Having said this, there is only two versions of this English/Scottish folk song, The Water Is Wide and O Waly, Waly respectively, and they date back to the 1600s, there is no other variations. You may take this song and apply different lyrics to it but please acknowledge its original English/Scottish origin.

I do acknowledge its origin in Olde English/Celt music. "The Water is Wide" is the American version.. There are several versions with different lyrics of this olde traditional from its early origins. "O Waly Waly","Waly,Waly" and more. I am a musician who has researched this song that dates back to the Celtic beginnings. I did not elaborate on all the historic data. Just appreciate how beautiful it is.  There are more than two versions. This is historical music fact.

This is one of my favorites sung by Sissel.  I would so love to hear her sing "My Heart Will Go On" - she sang all of the soundtrack Vocalises in soundtrack of 'Titanic", but was denied by producers the 'theme', against the choice of soundtrack composer, James Horner, who selected her "voice" after hearing her sing "Eg Veit I Himmerik Ei Borg" - the catalyst for the soundtrack. "SummerSnow"/"Waly,Waly "is divine and poignant. I have enjoyed her concerts immensely- sweet one she is!
