  • 2 words best describe this rendition of this great Jerome Kern song... SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL !

  • Thank you for this. My Dad used to play this a lot to my Mum. I cried when I first played this. So many wonderful memories.

  • And he was my age when he died (!). I guess because of his "serious" operetta background, he treated everything with absolute dignity. There was no line between the good popular music of the 20's and 30's, and classical music. And it comes out in performance.

  • Fantastic diction! And wonderful how he sells the song. The English people, God bless 'em, really took Richard Tauber to their hearts. He really had this whole English popular song career.

  • @presbyterosBassI

It might surprise you that Richard only started to receive royalties after 1940,Previously it was a flat fee per side, making money in vast quantities for the record companies. During his war years many popular songs were recorded and sold very well, but yet he died owing over £70.000 pounds, His widow quickly paid off this sum from the royalties he made from these later English ballads.

  • Thank You! So Wonderful! It's an icon on my screen for all the many months since I found it. Love Mr Jerome Kern, also. Thank You!

  • Excuse me, but the birth and death years belong to Victor Herbert, not Jerome Kern (January 27, 1885 – November 11, 1945).

  • @gfks11 @adri1430 @mahayaX @fabinaoasc... Gosh!!! Why is there not an end to the imenisyt of one's martyrdom?.... And why do people send others something like this song which cause so much horror? And why are those who keep on sending idioditic videos with inspirational thoughts cann't REALIZE once and for all they those to whom they send those stupid things Are NOT LIKE THEM, and that there is NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING THAT CAN BE SAID OR DONE DO END MARTYRDOM ??? why?

  • @MarcusAurelianus What are you talking about?

  • @gfks11 The old songs have a grandeur that has not already found more today. They are beautiful and strong. Thanks for posting this precious music. Thank you, Judie friend, shared this gem with me. Hugs. Cris
