  • NOW PLAYERS NEED MORE ENERGY

  • 87 seaon and 88 season for michael jordan are easily the best two seasons that an individual player has ever accomplished.

  • Hey clyde scores 42 points in this game gets 9 rebounds and 9steals and portland wins the game where are his highlights?

  • @ gnugget151

Kobe is up there with Jordan, if you cant accept it thats on you but MJ already did so you are quite frankly an idiot.

  • @tenoob Jordan is still the goat

  • THEY HAVE TO PUT AIR JORDAN IN NBA JAM FOR SURE

  • I wont say D Rose is Jordan. but u gotta admit there are faint similarities if your comparing Rose to this era of Jordan. Both look like small guards and play a fast and cutting game.

  • The Show was Beautiful. I am glad I was old enough to understand what I was seeing during Jordan's reign.

    -Michael forever

  • Well, I wouldn't say this was MJ against Clyde's Blazers. It was still Kiki Vandeweghe's team. Clyde didn't become The Man in Portland until the next season.

But still, one of the reasons I still believe MJ was the greatest of all time is that I know how good Clyde was, and MJ proved to be better than Clyde.

  • Damn, defense was tough back then...a prime MJ would run over todays dudes.

  • Definition of being in the zone

  • Jordan is the best of these two...he proved it in 1992 when he knocked Clyde off for a ring...and believe me those were really good blazers teams.

  • great video, that was basketball, today they blowing out cakes.

  • Lebron who?

  • omg see this is what im talkin about!!! everybody pay attention. ever here jordan haters say that he never faced tough d and he had it easy? just about every single time he had the ball in this game u saw 2-3 defenders around him and what does he do...score 53! i mean they played him tough too. just watch.

  • that bulls music is epic

  • what seperates mj from the pack is he murdered all time greats magic ,bird, barkley, drexler, wilkins, etc. he did it in their prime! at their peak! mj was & always be on a level by himself! you can claim he is from another planet! the laws of gravity didnt apply 2 him.

  • It's hard to place Jordan in an era because he played equal seasons in the 80's and 90's, both six years. Jordan's best seasons statistically came in the 80's and Jordan's championships came in the 90's. But, MJ was the NBA in the 90's and ever since his retirement the NBA has struggled to get out of the shadow of MJ. Don't believe me, look up the Nielson T.V. ratings.

  • God Almighty! Unparalleled excellence.

  • Look at how packed that paint is.

  • has ne1 at the off guard position ever had such an intelligent & efficient shot-selection than mj? maybe george gervin n his heyday, but it's so obvious what sets mike so far apart from the athletic shooting guards of 2day ... HIS BRAIN!

  • Look at how few people are in the stands when MJ is shooting FT's the Bulls just sucked in MJ's first years there.

  • Man. What happen to players like these? I watch the NBA, and something is missing.

  • I'll tell you what is missing it's not the rules it's just the players have no heart anymore they only think about the money and not the fun and challenge of the game.

  • @Thebrothersfolife Plus they are all stupid now and spend most fo the day just listening to rap.

  • @lilcrazyaznboy Great players are missing. MJ's era produced more hall of famers than any other era. Kobe's era has produced the least amount, the only one's are Garnett, Duncan, and Shaq and these players played in and grew up in the 90's and took what they learned from the greats of the 90's and used it to dominate a weaker league.

  • dont argue we all know jordan is better than clyde but clyde is still one hell of a player they are both the top 50 greatest players of all time

  • 6:38 WTF!!

  • Yeah that was crazy. He basically took the whole team.

  • LOL

  • If you don't count the stats, the scoreboard, and the record book, yeah maybe.

  • I agree with what one guy said earlier about him being like Bruce Lee "having cat like reflexes". The same way with Muhammad Ali these guys were like animals they can feel what moves need to be made. Its like they were born with that instinct. Watch this video again and look at how Jordan reacts to the blazers defense.. how fast he switches direction. Astounding

  • Damn @ 7:27, no call 4 sho

  • 7:01 DAMN!!!!!

  • badpdx ????? What are you talking about...How can Drexler have 30.5 ppg in 1990-92, if he never had 30ppg averaged season ... 1990-92 He was scoring 24 ppg on 48% .... And MJ 32 points on 52.5 %

  • Read his comment properly. He averaged 30.5 AGAINST THE BULLS.

  • Read this comment properly. Michael Jordan averaged 37.1 AGAINST THE WHOLE NBA that season.

  • I love the comment in your description: look at Jordan's reaction when his block is called a foul. . . .this is someone who is seeking supreme dominance.

Funny, in another player (say, Kevin Johnson, Tim Duncan, Magic Johnson) this would be called whining like a crybaby.

  • he got the points or the assist like almost every play haha.

  • It seems strange seeing a shot of the Bulls home stadium with empty seats.

  • Saw Brandon Roy do this a few nights ago...hmmm?

  • Clyde scored 21 points in this game, but this was when Kiki Vandeweghe was the star player for Portland. The next year, when the teams met again in Chicago, Clyde had 42 points on 55% shooting, 9 assists and 8 steals and the Blazers won. Just for the record, when both were in their prime (1990-1992), Clyde averaged 30.5 points on better than 50% shooting against Jordan in four regular season games. So he was MJ's rival, though not his equal.

  • I was wondering if you had any dominique wilkins games. The one i would like to see in full length is his 57 point game against New jersey , there is also a 45 point game in golden state from the 87-88 season. i would also like to see the full length game of the bulls hawks game when jordan scored 61 and the bulls still lost. i would also like to see dominiques 42 point game against the bulls where he hit 23 of 23 free throws. please post some dominique games. more dominique please. thanks

  • 2:12-2:16 everbody tried to block him. funny

  • Jordan is/always will be a great to play the NBA, in its good ole days before it got bloated!

  • Geeze, this was a whole different era. Players might not have been as athletic as they are now, but even the "worst" players back then, would be considered at least solid today (compared to a lot of the not so good players in the league now). And even then, Jordan dominated them all. Legend.

  • Agreed on the whole athletic game; but thats not entirely true. Sure its a GREAT thing to have athleticism, but what good is it if you possess little to know skill or basketball IQ? The best "unathletic" (when compared to the rest) player that comes to mind is Larry Bird. Dude was so smart, crafty, and possessed great skill in basketball; thats why he's such a great player.

  • All I gotta say is I MISS Jordan.

    I miss the NBA.

  • 5:35

  • Yeah that's the bit that I rewound a couple times too!

  • Well he is the fuckin man! DUHHH

  • No one even comes closed to MJ, be it in his heyday, or even after the come back. In my opinion, number 23 shouldn't have been retired by just the Bulls, but by the NBA because all we have now is Jordan wannabe's.

I also enjoyed watching basketball as a near non-contact sport, the way its supposed to be, not like all the And1 hoodlums play now.

  • When jordan shoots his free throws look how empty the stadium was back then

  • Song: "Sirius" - Alan Parson's project

  • I think it can be agreed upon that MJ was sent by Zeus to teach us how gods play "basketball"

  • the last generation was so lucky to have witness MJ in his golden days

  • Jordan is a fuckin' wilderbeast. I wonder if Lebron will ever live up to 23.

    Also, old announcers kinda suck.

  • greatest

  • Kobe is a fraud.....no comparison to MJ and if he played in MJ's era, he would not have anywhere near what he is now...you Kobe lovers cant be serious

  • Jordan isn't playing right now....you Kobe hater.

Why cant people enjoy the best player now the next champions.

tsk, tsk, tsk too many Kobe haters who cannot acknowledge his skill and shooting.

Jordan is the best though, but defense was kinda weak than.

  • Not sure what you mean by "defense was weak" back in the day. It was a lot more physical, a lot more handchecking on the perimeter, more overall contact than what you see today. I see way too many weak fouls called today in the NBA, and its ruining the game.

  • we are enjoying the best players spongy but when Kobe lovers like you come around and say dumb things like the defense was weak back then and compare him to Jordan somebody has to shut you down. There were way more defensive players in Jordan's era and there were no rules to give the offensive players an advantage like it does in today's game. If Jordan played today he would be way better now than he was then and if Kobe played in his era, he would be a 2 time all star and forgotten lol

  • agreed on the jordan kicks ass part... but kobe is also a great player. i dont think he would have been a 2 time all star and forgotten. and it hurts me to say this cause im a suns fan

  • @GNugget151 Nobody cares about Kobe except Laker's fans. Look at the T.V. ratings when Jordan played and Kobe played. The Bulls always had high ratings on T.V. while the Lakers had low ratings during their championship years. The Lakers highest ratings were the Bulls lowest.

  • @GNugget151 You're a hater, Kobe Bryant would be a NBA great in any era. Its funny how Michael Jordan lovers are so insecure they have to bash Kobe in any instance.

  • @tenoob

Jordan lover? I'm a knicks fan and I respect "real" ballers. You Kobe dick riders always wanna put your boy up there with MJ because you want them to be in the same class and it's not even close..... so who's actually insecure?

  • @GNugget151 kobe is not a fraud kobe is the closet we'll ever get to another jordan... doesn't mean he

's that good but kobe is an all time great a top 5 player of all time

  • @budyboy2424 the fuck??? Kevin Durant is closer to MJ than Kobe will ever be. And Durantula isn't in MJ stratosphere. Don't let the David Stern media hype machine brainwash you into believing Kobe is anything more than a 6'6" Allen Iverson (sans schoolyard handles). Check the stats.

  • @HooliganMovement the fact that you say, looking at the two careers, that durant is closer to jordan. you sir are a class A idiot and an ignorant fool and i do not pitty those who have to actually listen to your points. but anyway back to my point, kobe is no where near as good as jordan, nor did i ever say that. but he is the closest player in terms of playing style, fundemental greatness, and the love and drive to win. i'm not saying that kobe is better jus tthe closest well get which is true

  • @budyboy2424 Kobe is not a fundamentally great player... by any stretch of the imagination. He's a showboat shot jacker who completely bit MJ's style. Kobe would be a 15ppg guy in MJ's NBA... as he was prior to the league GUTTING defensive strategies in order to allow him to appear "Jordan-esque". Smoke and mirrors, tool.

  • Jordan's rival? Clyde scored 21 ppg this season i think

  • man hes so fast

  • yeah i know right? it seems like they had to be so much quicker to evade the more physical defenses back then

  • insane such a competitor wanted to prove he was better than clyde every time they met probabally right till the end of clyde's career, even though everyone in the world new along time ago but this game was one of the early one's so it's safe to say he didn't take it easy on poor clyde that night.he wouldn't let anybody be better while it was his time.

  • 80s Jordan was just freakin inhuman ...

  • that was amaaaaazing!

  • lmao 7:02!

  • 1 of the first ankle breaks n nba history...

  • lol, yeah i had to see that like 4 times. he ripped him out his shoes!

  • 4:31-4:35 that was amazing

  • I love these old games.

  • michael jordan is one of the most respceted players in the game also one of the hardest judges in the dunk contest to impress but i'm still a big fan of his dunks and stuff like that

  • ARE YOU SERIOUS? THAT WAS AMAZING

  • 7:01 lol

  • Anybody know how Drexler did in this game? Great upload btw, hoops.

  • Drexler:

    23pts (10-19), 3rebs, 5asts, 2stls

  • Jordan is the greatest Basketball player

  • I dont have a word... for what I saw here :)

  • People shouldnt mention anyone with MJ in basketball, NOBODY IS EVEN CLOSE. NOBODY.

  • Tell that to pighead like Mark Jackson. There is nothng common between MJ & any current best NBA player. MJ was a prototype ball player like they create in CG graphics who posterised Mark Jackson as a Knick & Pacer. Nigga needs to let go the sour grapes & accept MJ is that much superior to Kobe, LeBron.

  • Well Mark Jackson completely lost all credibility when he said Paul Pierce was as good offensively as Larry Bird.

  • i guess he was meaning in a sense that he was able to create his onw shot and score of the dribble. Pierce also ca get is points of screens as well. But yeah I argee w/ you in the sense that he isn't as good offfensivly. Offense is much more than just scoring a bunch of points. Its passing and putting defenses on their heels, Pierce is very good- but Bird is an immortal. Though he was slow- he was smart and was an underratted post up player. Phenominal passer too, especially since he played PF

  • I mean not only that he also a significantly better jumpshot. And even though offense is more than just scoring points, I think Bird could still get his points better than Pierce.

  • Bird is a legend and better than Pierce nothing compares

  • Bird was a small forward. McHale played PF for the Celtics.

  • Prior to the arrival of McHale, Bird played PF. Also, McHale was a sixth man when he first arrived.

  • you have a new fan hoops

  • Interesting viewpoint, also, of the late-80s Portland Blazers. Drexler and Porter were making the beginnings of a special backcourt tandem, and Clyde would show occassional flashes of the special player that he later turned out to be. Also, check out the Porter drive and unbelievable layup around 2:30... that could be considered "Jordanesque".

  • Another great upload. Thanks hoops, you're truly the best. I am loving these old nba vids of Jordan and some of the best days as well as years of the NBA.

  • Notice how the announcer is not saying "Head guard from North Carolina" yet... he will be soon ^^

  • It's "at guard" not "head guard".

  • yeah thats was not ray clay the guy known for doing the intro

  • as always hoops... tremendous upload. thanks.

  • wow- he used to move like a cat- incredibly smooth. Amazing how at the time- he was the only one capable of his level of athleticism every night-= now the league has evolved to a level where every team has 3 guys who can take off from outside the key- double pump reverse it. obviously none at his level- and artistry though. but awesome to think whats next in the game.

  • One of his many nicknames was Black Cat.

  • thats not the only thing he got cheated out of,86-87 he should have been 1st on the all d team(1st to get 200 steals and 100 blocks),88-89 10 triple doubles in 11 games,32.5ppg/8rb/8assists,92-93(led the league in scoring and steals)i think they got tired of giving him the MVP after he got it in 91 and 92,and surprisingly in 97 when they gave the MVP to Malone, last time i checked Malone didnt lead his team to a 69-13 season with a 39-2 home record, they were just tired of giving the MVP to MJ

  • Do you have this game?

    basketball-reference(dot)com/boxscores/198611110CHI(dot)html

Jordan did a sick game winning lay up in that game

  • Someone needs to blow up youtube just because of guys like the waffleirontmacsplatt on hoops's comments, on his main page. What the fuck. I quit.

  • bruce he only one of many. dont let one bad apple spoil the bunch.

  • MJ was robbed in '87 for not only the defensive player of the year award, but also a place in the all-defensive team. He became the first player in NBA history to ever record 200 steals and 100 blocks in a season. He did the same thing in '88 and the NBA finally noticed his defense over his offense.

  • You are exactly right. Jordan should have been an obvious first team all D selection in 86-87 which also would have given him the all time record of 10 first team all D selections to hold on his own instead of sharing the record of 9 with Payton.

  • It would've been 12 all defensive selections if he didn't take a break from basketball. Also, he could've worked on his D a lot earlier if he wasn't injured in his 2nd season.

  • Well of course, but he didn't actually deserve first team all D selections the years he was retired or in his second season. He actually deserved to be first team all D in 86-87 and got robbed. he should have 10 first team all D selections based on what he deserves.

  • Great Video... Keep it up

  • This channel will never die!

  • I love those lightning moves in transition. Somewhere between 87 and 92 would be my ideal Jordan prime - just before he put on the extra 10-15lbs and the league ground to a halt as everyone else followed suit. Thanks for posting this (and every other great video!)

  • he's so good its ridiculous. People forget so easyily.

  • keep up the fast update or else.!!!

  • You out do yourself hoops, well done, Jordan is GOAT

  • Kobe is more like Drexler, He's no where near Jordan.

  • With a better shooting touch, defense, and better dribbling. But that's about it, not to mention Kobe is not as dominant on the boards as well as slightly(?) less athletic.

  • Did you just say that Kobe is a better defender than Jordan? He's also not a better shooter from inside 23 feet than Jordan was by the same age.

  • Oops, I am comparing Kobe to Clyde on defense. Sry for not clarifying. No way on earth Kobe is better than Jordan on defense.

  • Oh, okay. I was gonna say. :P

  • @PAZ0619 ehhhh i say kobe has a better shooting touch because he hits it from everywhere on the floor using different arsenals of releases. now jordan didn't have to do that cause he just jumped and was out of the defenders reach. since kobe needed more ways to shoot and stay effective i say kobe has a slight better shooting touch

  • I said Kobe is a better shooter, slightly better defender (during his prime only), and better dribbler.

But of course, the Kobe's shot selection is rather poor at times.

  • @PAZ0619 Better defender???? HUH?

  • @PAZ0619 yeah, better defender. I'm sure Kobe's DPOY, being league leader in steals a number of seasons, being #3 all time in rebounds for a guard, #2 all time in steals, and #1 all time in blocks for a guard proves that.

  • I was comparing Clyde Drexler to Kobe, not Jordan to Kobe.

BTW I said Kobe is nowhere near Jordan.

  • But somehow people assumed that I was talking about Jordan lol.

  • @uberathlete did really say kobe was a better defender LOL

  • Look at that starting lineup, wow..Watch out. Seriously can anyone really blame the guy for not goin deeper in the playoffs till 88-89? His teammates were either rookies or washed up bums.

  • Exactly. People who say the Bulls championship teams were deep are just crazy. The first championship team had a bunch of scrubs and developing players in Pip and Horace. The second team had a bunch of scrubs with a starting lineup that was past its physical prime. The Bulls championship teams didn't have the same kind of overall depth of the great Celtics and Lakers teams. And yet, they still whooped ass ... in large part because of MJ.

  • I agree with you...MJ is the GOAT, no doubt,no discussion..I watched him live once..it was just incredible..mi girlfriend doesn´t know anything about the game, what when he saw him play, she quickly said "that one is special"..she was right..the best ever..

  • thanks hoops GO JORDAN!

  • The 7:00 mark - that is one of the illest moves I've ever seen him do!!! Too bad he missed the finger roll, otherwise it would've made all of his highlight reels!

  • Jordan was a beast on the boards. I've never seen a SG who was that good at grabbing rebounds.

  • Drexler was also a beast on the boards. Those two along w/ Magic & Oscar were the best ever.

  • MJ had so many great plays in this game offensively/defensively that u could of just made a highlight reel out of it,prime jordan was just amazing to watch.

  • Thank you again Hoops, a HUGE thank you !

  • GOAT...not even close.

  • erm are you on crack?

  • No my friend, are you? Educate yourself on NBA history. Jordan is GOAT and it's not close.

  • I thought you were implying GOAT..not even close as if he is somehow inferior to someone else ( kobe fan boy or something ) not as in GOAT no one will come close to him..... it was a misunderstanding lol

  • Yeah, no problem. I'm about as big a Jordan fan as they come, and having watched his entire career, as well as Kobe's, it's laughable to compare the two. Peace.

  • You go to any basketball court in your town and say this, you will catch a massive beatdown.

  • Actually kid, you go anywhere in the world and disagree that Jordan is GOAT and you'll get laughed off the court. Face reality kid. Jordan GOAT.

  • THANKS HOOPS FOR THE GREAT WORK

  • Jordan's intensity as a young player is unmatched. Just watching his reaction when the block was called a foul, even when the game was already won shows his legendary competitiveness. Keep them coming Hoops!

  • I love this : MJ doesn't just want to beat you, he wants to win every play and dominate you so you'll never think the same way again.

  • wow!

  • i aint sayin D Wade is a young jordan but the way they attack the defense is very similar(wade doesnt post up nowhere near as much as jordan). those reverse layups were nice. he really did have a sportscenter play every game.

  • "a" sportscenter play? i counted about 12 in that one game.

  • Great vid Hoops...

  • genius

  • 7:02!! nasty

  • That's a killer ankle breaker from the GOAT.

  • can't believe all the empty seats

  • james is like drexel with a jumpshot!

  • January 26, 1991

Houston guard Vernon Maxwell became the fifth player in NBA history to score 30 points in a quarter, joining Wilt Chamberlain, David Thompson, George Gervin and Michael Jordan.

    nba(dot)com/history/this_date_january(dot)html

  • On 1/ 26 Maxwell lit up the Cleveland Cavaliers for a career-high 51 points-30 in the fourth quarter....At the time, only four other players in NBA history had scored 30 points in a quarter: George Gervin (33), David Thompson (32), Wilt Chamberlain (31), and Michael Jordan (30).

    nba(dot)com/playerfile/vernon_maxwell/bio(dot)html

  • I'm pretty sure that MJ's high is 29 for one quarter, not 30. I could be wrong though (I think there was some Bulls press pamphlet that recapped games and mentioned a 30-point quarter). He scored 27 in a quarter a few times, too.

  • It's 30. It came in a game at Denver, it's the Bulls record of course.

  • I see,you want everybody celebrate here.

And again,do you have the game that Jordan scored 30 points in a quarter ?

  • I unfortunately do not have that game.

  • michael jordan greatest of all time period. 5 stars

  • Tell me why do you delete my comments?

  • Because your comments and tone are suspicious and I try to keep things at a certain level while I'm watching.

  • spin move at 7:01 was lightning - - defender was twisted up like a pretzel

  • at 2:20.. i dont know if i am wrong or not..but there seems to be a lot of empty seat in chicago statium. why? it is really hard to imagine a game with mj in with empty seat like this.

  • I wish you could post the game that Jordan scored 30 points in a quarter

  • so easy for mj

  • So much inteseity back n' the day

  • does michael jordan believe in god or does he love allah like the jews?

  • Allah is embraced by Muslims.

  • Great!!!

  • This is not a man, 37.1 ppg that season? Are you kidding me? 53 points and 59% shooting just like it was nothing plus great defense and all in the much tougher era. I think that if Jordan played today in his prime he would have at least 45 ppg. I can't even understand why people compare him to today's players(Kobe, LeBron). It's just not right, Jordan earned his respect and he is GOAT. I can't even still believe 37.1 ppg!!!!!!!
