Maybe he should have given his hands in the first place. Granted the punches are excessive since hes down and they have him under control and hes wasnt tazed which has been a problem at other times. I think the disobiediance of people have prompted officers to act more aggressive now so they go here much more often. Resist means not doing anything the officer asks or tells you. This ones a bit tough cause both sides are in the wrong.

at no point does the guy the cops roughed up "resist" them and if theres somethin valid he did the cops could call "resisting" it sure didnt require three of them beating him in response.  this is a clear violation of the publics trust in the police force. no bueno.

This guy is an out-of-work mortgage broker, I would like to know how many sub-prime loans he foisted on people who are now HOMELESS? I think referring to him as an "Artist" cheapens Artists everywhere. I mean, I painted my mailbox last year so I'm an artist too. He was just a drunken jerk who showed some really poor judgement when he got caught for shoving the guy who had 86'd him from the bar. They should make him pay his own hospital bills and pay for the gas it took to get him to jail.

I just read the article in the paper (Sonoma County: The Press Democrat) having to do with this incident. From what I understand the officer was dealing with an intoxicated person who was hiding his hands because he did not want to be cuffed. But to react like this out of fear and frustration just goes to show that a lot of cops when faced with a challenge panic and resort to heightened aggression and violence instead of calm assertive energy. Cops could be much much more than thugs with badges

A person cannot assault the employee of a bar, then proceed to hide his hands from a police officer and cry wolf. The police have no idea why you are hiding your hands. Are you reaching for a weapon? They would like to go home and have dinner with their family just like you. So when they attempt to place you under arrest for assaulting an employee just let them do their job instead of resisting. The only reason this happened was because you resisted and made threatening movements.

@Corrina707 Yes of course. That is until they get his hands out where they can see them and make sure he isn't pulling a weapon. I'm not a police officer but if I was in that situation I would have used a taser instead of punching him in order to get his hands where I could see them but none the less the officer was arresting a man who was wandering around assaulting people and that criminal decided to resist for whatever reason and then hide his hands from sight which is threatening.
