@Mr450 There are many reasons. It's easier to install and maintain, you can put a monster turbo and get more flow at lower PSI, you don't have such a cramped engine bay, and it's cheaper. If you want great throttle response and consistent boost, multiple turbos are great, so you can set them up in sequence. if you want big power though, a single big-ass turbo is the way to go.
@TVDUDE33 I know it can be done; I didn't mean that. I mean that it's kind of pointless in my opinion. Newer turbos generate boost so early that using a smaller turbo to spool it requires a lot of fabrication and engine space. The ending power curve is not much different from a good big turbo, and having the boost so early pretty much breaks whatever traction setup you have. Having some turbo lag is your friend. There have been a couple of people that tried it and the above has proven true.

Supra? TT model has 320 HP already along with 6 cylinders and DOHC. Its on a higher teir than the compact sportcar known as the 240sx. Sporting non-the-less 4 cylinder turbo dohc SR20 but thats a rare one. The more common KA24 is much more of a laughter though. If you want a 240sx to par with the supras' teir, you need to get an engine swap. Much less expensive to get a swap with more HP than buying upgrades for the inferior SR20 and KA24. It was a good run, but those are just toys for beginners

Z28 camaro = 5.7 LT1 V8 SFI
3000GT VR = 3.0 V6 DOHC EFI AWD
Potential means the base of your build is capable of reaching unimaginable numbers within a reason pricerange.
Why would someone spend 20,000 on a SR20det or KA24DE to make it somewhat above average when you can spend 1.5k and make a 5.7 V8 reach 450+ NA......

We would all like to mod up 5.7 liters, but for the import guys this is what we have thats not Honda, and still dirt cheap!

Im including a lot of muscle engines because they are heavy backed in the tuner scene, so there is plenty of parts and info you can get if you need it.
SR and KA are more DIY custom, K, B and H series engines are more common and have just as much backing it as muscle. Cant say the same for SRs KAs

Yeah they will get beat by a supra, cause supra when hooked up is for speed. The 240sx is a drifting car. Now the $6500 engine you were talking about. I can get a SR20 det upgrade it so it reaches about 400-500 hp all for under $4000. That includes the price of the engine, turbo, transmission, and the other modifications.

Car had eagle rods, CP pistons 8.5:1, apexi metal head gasket, peak performance valve springs, crower titanium retainers, hks step 1 256 intake cam 264 exhaust with 10.5mm lift, RAS. It also had FPbig28 turbo, greddy turbo elbow, xs cat delete downpipe, greddy rspl fmic and blitz nur spec exhaust spitfire coilpack DSS almnm dshaft etc. A car with intake/exhaust is a stock motor.
If a supra looks like a stock supra and is really putting down 800+ id call that sleeper. Mine looks like a terd on the outside (for a surpa) but watch out it will eat you up and spit you out.
the 2jz has been in the states longer meaning theres more aftermarket shit for drag racing for it. how often do you see a drag strip in Japan?
The few people who have built the rb26dett to its potential have beaten all the 2jz times I've seen besides this Supra is more built than the 240sx here

yeah, the Nissan in the video has an SR20DET. And the RB25DET and RB26DETT are known as "supra killers". the 2jz is a badass engine, but overall i like the RB series better.

Im in the process of building one right now to drop in my '90 240sx hatch. Pretty custom build and VERY expensive but i think it will be worth it.
It's not their 'version' of the rb.... Toyota didn't copy Nissan. They made a completely different engine. Yeah, they are very similar, but that's like saying the 335i is bmw's version of something.

@Rickey240 This was my car which was recently sold. My personal definition of a built motor is bottom and top end. Car had eagle rods, CP pistons 8.5:1, apexi metal head gasket, peak performance valve springs, crower titanium retainers, hks step 1 256 intake cam 264 exhaust with 10.5mm lift, RAS. It also had FPbig28 turbo, greddy turbo elbow, xs cat delete downpipe, greddy rspl fmic and blitz nur spec exhaust spitfire coilpack DSS almnm dshaft etc. A car with intake/exhaust is a stock motor.

The few people who have built the rb26dett to its potential have beaten all the 2jz times I've seen besides this Supra is more built than the 240sx here

Because there is more available since Drag racing is King in the states.
Also there are tons more 2jz out there than rb26s since they didn't come so exclusivly.
You should especially see what they are doing with the RBs in the Gulf they have SUVs running as fast as Supras since the RB30 is as common as a 350 chevy in the states and just as cheap they only lack cars to put them in.
If you look it up on youtube there are skylines running equal to 2jz

thats because there are tons and tons of 2jz out there alot more than the rb25+rb26 much like... the rb30s any time theres an abundance of engines people will build them to their full potential because every single machine shop will get thier hands on them.

Moron you can't run stock IRS on a Supra running 600hp or more THATS WHY THEY SELL RACING AXLES AND GEARS people claim the regular skyline and the nonturbo Z32 IRS takes 1000hp+ does that mean its true? probably not
Just because some fanboy on a blog claims it can take X amount of HP doesn't mean it can. They sell RACING IRS parts fro the Supra for 650-900hp then from 900hp-1200hp does that give you a clue fanboy

Look back when I WAS in high school I usto believe what I read on blogs what taught me the difference was actually working PROFESSIONALLY not just doing jobs for friends. So I usto believe that a Nissan tranny could take 700hp because people claimed it or the IRS take 1000hp stock but once you actually get involved and talk to some REAL racers you find out all that is bull shit.

i wouldn't call that thing a car... there is nothing from that car that comes from the celica. its basically just bars and a buch of fiber glass to cover the bars. a fast CAR that i respect are those that are kept their original body and are fast like a dsm (Curt Brown 2009 DSM Shootout). that is an example. 9.4 sec CAR.

Im in the process of building one right now to drop in my '90 240sx hatch. Pretty custom build and VERY expensive but i think it will be worth it.
