I'm looking for a dvd about these techniques of brief counseling in spanish or with closed caption in spanish. I am working on a project for mental health, so I would like to know if you know about a website where I can find them. I've been looking for a long time, but haven't had any success.... rubbish. M questions are no good and neither are placating tones. What now? Is she going to offer him a job in radio and a cooler climate? Try applying that to cancer patients and then you really see it fail. The issue was his job from the get go, nothing was gleaned. There really is only one style of therapy and thats basic psycho education in cognitive restructuring, relaxation and meditation and then just talking about what ever needs to be talked about for as long as it does.

Seeing therapists such as this with so little compassion, or even _understanding_ of what tools they utilise really unnerves me.

About 2:01 he said "am i in the right place? Am i doing something that i really want to do or is there something else?" This was the perfect opportunity for her to ask him to answer those questions. She might have said "are you in the right place?" and "are you doing something you really want to do or is there something else?" The miracle question only took him back to that point anyway.

So,dear systemic colleague,coz your only real tool is your language, make you language create experience!

BTW, she didnt use preliminary inducing wuestion, asking if ever happened in his life that some things solved just like that (snapping your fingers :-) . Coz he could say "No." Then what would she do?? :-)

looks like a commercial for SFT. Im SFT,systemic,narrative therapist and can say that this therapist is nice but her presentation could me "deeper" . E.g. asking miracle question should be an experience for a client, already hearing it should be like getting in a movie, his own future, pulling all the feelings and imaginations out of his body and mind, even like a trance...

Ok, but in counselling we normally do not ask any "Why" questions. It tends to place people on the spot and is not at all empathic. Another response may have been... "I would be really interested to learn more about some of your reasons behind making the decision to come in today" or "You sound a little frustrated with regards to how your new job is going... it this part of the reason for choosing now to come in"

Great video! Only two things I did not like.. She said "I would like to ask you a different question if I can" and "I want you to imagine if you can". She do not need the client's permission to ask questions. And she kinda discounted the clients abilities with the "if you can".

some of the positioning is because of the actual set up of filming and making sure they are both in an optimal position.

Really liked how well Therapist utilized the Miracle Question. She phrased it perfectly when asking the client.
