They blow Hope Sandoval out of the ocean. Really. It's the reverb on the tamborine and her naturally femme voice that make you think of Hope, but the similarities end there. I'm a huge fan of Mazzy but she ain't anywhere near the rocking and raw nature of Duke Spirit.

Gosh, I think The Spirit are good, but NOWHERE near on par with Mazzy. Considering that their music came from a decade earlier, I believe that it's extraordinary. Also, I believe that Hope had a better vocal ranger, as she could hit high notes very well, and I have not seen the lead singer of Duke Spirit hit notes outside the range of a garage band singer. Nonetheless, the raw nature of Duke Spirit is truly appealing.
