  • the government lied and we are supposed to accept that? Not me.

  • GET HIM CHRIS!!!!!!!

  • Its funny how the blame is 100% always to do with Americans being wrong, no the terrorists who are sadistic, rapists, child molestors and torturers are not the problem in this world, let them exist, let Saddam kill and gas as many kurds as he wants aslong as were over in America and our 4000 soldiers are all alive and well, cuz we dont give a fuck about anyone but ourselves, im guessing this is the position most of you take?

  • @WeLikeDanceMusic I served in the Marine Corps. Youhave the audacity to think this war was justifiable because someone was killing people on the other side of the world? That's went on for thousands of years. Why doesn't France go in and help? Why not Germany? Poland? Why the good 'ole USA? We need to take care of our own problems before we do anything. You really just pissed me off. I lost some DAMN good friends in that shit hole. Because of people like you who think we're the world's police.

  • who is the man being interviewed? did he just admit to murder?

  • Chris Matthews is unprofessional and rude and loud mouthed, he should allow his guests to speak even though he may disagree with their politics. He is the next worse commentator to Bill O'Reilly.

  • Chris Matthews is a pussy wimp who does not know what the hell he is talking about.

  • @phewl49 Chris Matthews the pussy wimp is a former DC cop who could probably fuck you up if he wanted to.

  • @geofwhatevet og yeah. Fejl resolution spreads hate, gear and Lies like beck. Sure. He tells the truth. But i know that people who arent interrested in the truth, may think that that is a problem. I really dont see how you being canadian has any relevance.

  • @jesmarina LOL!! What?? That comment is completely indecipherable.

  • There should be a banner proclaiming a video as a Cenk Ogre TYT so I don't accidentally click on it in my search for real news and information. I'm not particularly fond of listening to a baboon spewing hatred of anything borne out of Western Civilization value systems.

  • @geoffck6969 Baboon - classy!!! And yeah, invading countries, killing thousands of civilians.....yeah, I can see why you would defend that. I think maby you should read up on the values you hold in such high regard.......READ SOMETHING!!! And stop watching Fox News.

  • @jesmarina WOW!! You read alot into my comment stating my distaste for Cenk Ogre. Another little internet ninny. Would it be pointless and lost on you if I told you I am Canadian and therefore do not get Fox News? FWIW, I find all your (American) political discourse distasteful, both left and right, and would not listen to hate spewing BABOONS such as Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh either. You realize that you don't have to be disagreeable to disagree, right? YOU should remember that.

  • mathews just brought in Gaffney to savage him and turn him into a whipping boy for their grievances against the right...forgetting that the decision to invade iraq was not taken lightly and was supported overwhelmingly by both parties.

85% of iraqis risked their lives to vote for democracy, when AQ threatened to kill them if they did. Saddam massacred 300,000 of his own people, he lost the right to rule, we had every right to invade, since right after 9/11 US intelligence said Iraq was a threat

  • by any objective meter, beck is hyperbole at best. an obvious lier and fake who faked his own tears for a show on himself. he himself has said he's just an entertainer, but he doesn't seem to know what he is, having gone from a sort of journalist to rapid conspiracy theorist, to racist hater, now to religious profit! all for profit! get a grip man, he's a charlatan. : "A person who makes elaborate, fraudulent, and often voluble claims to skill or knowledge; a quack or fraud"

  • fuck the 4 thousand number. how about the million iraquis! like they don't count? this is why they hate us, dupes. It's always all about us narcissists (that day is almost done). Talking over someone, whomever, is cheap and crappy journalism which dilutes the case instead if bolstering it. Nobody gives a crap how you feel Chris, or the other guy either. We're interested in truth. Act like Walter Croncite and you'll have our respect, and the argument will have everyone's respect as well.

  • we should have never gotten into iraq. if they really so badly wanted saddam out, ever heard of a covert military operation? send 10 cia agents in there and lop off saddam's cock and stick it in uday's ass. instead we waged war killing close to a million iraqis and creating this bloodbath we see in iraq today. god bless america. seig heil!!!

  • Saying 4,000 Americans have to die isn't very nice. But here in reality where I live everyone has to die and they would have died anyway. I guess context matters though. They didn't have to die because of a war :(

  • Heer's how it normally goes. One person speaks, the other listens & then replies. But,even as an Englishman,I can fully understand why the news anchor,(?),would speak over that jerk! After all,my country went into Iraq coz that runt,Blair believed everything Bush & his henchmen told him! How that b*stard could sit there & calmly say that it was somehow defensible that so many of his country-men died is just short of treachery!

  • Of Course 100,000 thousand dead Iraqis is of no consequence..

  • Frank Gaffney needs to be rotting in prison.

  • Chris Matthews is terrible at interviewing, he has to keep quiet sometimes and let these fools hang themselves with their own words.

  • How quickly that pile of shit Carter loyalist forgets that the very justification Bush made to enter Iraq was made by his own Democrat party before and after 9/11. Matthews is a lying snake and manipulator.

  • @mulhollanddose - don't try to pin this stinking war on democrats, buddy.

This is Dubyas war, served up on a silver platter by the Republicans.

Thanks a lot, you fuggin' prick.

  • @chimproller,

Seems a whole lot of Democrats were beating the "regime change" drums far before Bush did. Democrats all the way up to the war were making the case that Saddam had WMD and had a direct relationship with Al Qaeda. Go to my page and you will find irrefutable evidence to prove it...Unfortunately the Democrats decided to turn into traitors and spin 180 degrees on their pre-Bush arguments....No, fuck you.

  • @mulhollanddose - good luck trying to sell that desperate attempt at rewriting of history.

This Iraq debacle is squarely on the shoulders of Dubya and his republican cronies - congratulations buddy, you broke it, you bought it!

I bet you cheered when Dubya flew to that aircraft carrier wearing his codpiece and declared victory, didn't you?

  • @chimproller,

You reveal nothing more than the effectivness of the leftist propaganda and public manipulation. The only history that was rewritten was that Democrats didn't link Saddam to Osama, that Saddam did not have WMD (which recent Wikileaks documents debunks), and that Democrats didn't collapse the current economy...These Democrat spread lies are worse than the most recent gem Democrats tried to pump into America that Loughner was inspired by Sarah Palin and the conservatives...Filthy.

  • @mulhollanddose You are an unbelievably dishonest dipshit.

  • @mulhollanddose you are so deluded pal. Who you been listening to, GB?

  • @bronzeladdy53,

Clearly you have not. A sure sign of a man that has his head up NBC's ass is his ignorant rejection of Glenn Beck. Try expanding your closed mind a little. I subject myself to that pile of shit Chris Matthews.

  • @mulhollanddose You are obviously a king of fascist propaganda dissemination.

  • Real reason for Iraq war was that Saddam attepted to have Bush Sr killed, and Bush Jr prob swore to avenge this. He mentioned this once in a pre-war speech, that this was another reason Saddam was dangerous.

  • Mathews is a rude idiot.

  • @boatstaylor Rude? Sometimes. Idiot? No.

  • Got to keep that military-industrial complex running strong.

  • Chris Matthews cant interview, he doesnt shut up

  • I think Frank and Channey need to die. In matter of fact, they should be evicted from planet Earth. Thier corpses dont deserve to rot here. They should be exucuted and have there bodies loaded into a rocket ship and launched into the Sun.

  • This kinda explains the whole 911 timeline......and who participated in it.

  • man i wish i could meet frank faggney, so i can knock his teeth out. Fuckin' punk!

  • Hey morons, Watch the video right here on youtube called "Democrats before the Iraq war".

You can watch Hillary, Bill, Kerry, Gore, Ried, Pelosi, Edwards, and a handfull of other DEMOCRATS calling for war on Iraq because "we know Iraq has WMD's has used them on his own people and will use them agian"!!!!

LMAO!! Did you idiots all forget that? Did you forget that the majority of DEMOCRATS voted for war on Iraq?

When it got a little rough & unpopular, the Dems threw it in Bush's lap & ran!

  • We are a christian nation and god is on our side.

  • @pchtermino "We are a christian nation and god is on our side"

We are a SECULAR nation. Keep your 'God' to yourself please. Thanks very much.

    *brought to you by Agnostic/ Atheist/ Pantheist/ Deist/ Muslim/ Buddhist/ Taoist/ Pagan/ Hindu/ Zoroastrian/ Sihk/ Shinto/ Jainist/ Unitarian/ Tenrikyian/ Cao Dai/ Rastafarian/ Scientologist Americans* (sorry if I left anyone out =P )

  • @LordBLB Scientologists shouldn't be on that list, that's an insult to EVERYONE.

  • @pchtermino pssssssssst. that was satire.

  • toler-rants

  • I love when Turks talk about foreign policy :) Its the only thing I agree on you on but hey!

  • Frank Gaffney is a piece of shit.

If you lost a brother, father, son, husband of friend in Iraq, pause the video on Frank gaffney's face and look into his eyes and realize that your loved one died because and for this piece of shit and others like him.

    Truly sad!

  • Matthews is a neocon working both sides of the aisle and continually spinning info to confuse Americans who are not well educated and critical thinkers. Yes, he does good here in claiming that the Iraq war is bogus, but HE was beating the war drum to high hell before the invasion. How deceptively eloquent.

Bottom line is Matthews does what he is told to say: support the war to get the public to buy off on the invasion, now denounce it since they are waking up. Watch for the same pattern.

  • Wasn't Chris Matthews kissing GW's ass at the beginning of the Iraq War?

  • hey cenk, why don't you "nail it" and call a spade a spade and stop begging and worming your way to a show on the zionist propaganda machine called the msm. Hey americans. Wake up. The zionists say they own congress and that we are stupid. We give those maggots 4 billion a year, 34 thousand per person to Israel and they mean mouth us. Let's go kick there lying kike asses up into there throats. I wouldn't piss down Israels mouth if her heart was on fire.

  • Conservatives are scum.

I hope the left in the United States will kill the idiot right's ideology soon.

  • Dubya hated Saddam, but there's also Cheney's Haliburton stock options.

  • Matthews is a hæmmorrhoid sucking gearbox!

  • Saadam was killing Americans? Saadam killed 4,000 Americans? When? Where? That's news to me!

  • Thank God for MSNBC. Bush and the Republicans and Fox News are nothing but LIARS!

  • Bush and Chenney and Rove still refuse to own up for their mistakes.

Well, to be 100% accurate, Bush did give a subtle admission that he was wrong(finally) at the end of his presidency.

  • they use words as if we were in the 60s with the russia scare...

  • let him talk chris and suck that spit up off your chin you jerk..

anyone that even has the remote amount of respect for this guy should be ashamed of themselves for simply one reason.. because his hero is none other than saul alynski.. if you disagree with me then read "rules for radicals" and get back to me..

  • You cannot demonize Fox News for speaking their views when MSNBC is obviously a liberal propaganda network.

  • @danmol78: You sure can assign blame to both networks. Both push a viewpoint and it's wrong for both of them to pass it off as news. MSNBC is a reaction to Fox News, using its model of opinion based journalism just from the left instead of the right. That's not news, that's sensationalism. It would make sense if each station (Fox and MSNBC) would clearly separate their news and opinion, but the line is blurred on most of their programming.

  • Umm yes you can. You can criticise both for not doing their jobs and being objective. You cannot just point and say "hey! what about the other guy!" and expect your own wrong doings to be justified just because the other side is doing it. The right response is to rip into partisanship where ever it rears it's ugly snout.

  • @danmol78 - wrong. Fox promoted the lies of the Bush administration to go to war because of lies (Iraq has WMDs). This is wrong (war for regime change is against international law). MSNBC is pointing out these lies. What do you expect? That when politicians lies and get Americans killed, we (including MSNBC) should keep quiet?

  • The peace symbol, is the foot print of the American chicken.

  • This war was a sham, I've lost too many friends and family members in this war because people like him believe it's OK for our brothers and sisters to die for a political agenda. I hope God has mercy on there souls.

  • Strange, but Al Gore called Iraq a mortal threat in Presidential debates when he criticized W's father Bush for not doing enough to squash Iraq. The mortal threat of Iraq was a fart in the bathtub compared to the massive dump that is coming from Iran, China, Al Qaeda. Progressives like Cenk Uygur have ruined the word progressive. They're locked in a mindset that doesn't understand history because they're weak and afraid, or they can't face facts that don't facilitate their Utopian fantasy.

  • bush just wanted to finish wat his daddy had done...

Bush and his administration were a bunch of idiots!!!!!! and u no wat to all those who say " we went in t protect the american people"

    FUCK U!

how is talkin down saddam and then killin the guy going to solve the crisis the bush administration did to Iraq!?!?!?

republicans n there simple fucked up brains....

  • Frank believes that other countries who are not towing the line of the American policy are "MORTAL THREATS". And he probably thinks Americans shall inherit the Earth. This guy also talks about planning war against China and Russia - which would involve a lot more deaths.

But that's his job as military "adviser". And I shall not shed a tear for Saddam. What's done is done - Americans should now leave Iraq a better place.

  • He's a dick only talking about 4,000 American deaths. What about the 150,000 plus Iraqis? As if the children wanted to be bombed. It's total bullshit how Americans value American life so highly and non-Americans so little. A human being is a human being.

  • Chris who?

  • Gaffney is a fucking idiot, this wasnt the only time he's subjected himself to Matthews, an honest jurnalist.

Gaffney was on Matthews a couple days ago, again, and got his ass handed to him, again.

It's one thing to be a Repub and truly beleive in what your doing, but to be a Repub ass-kisser cuz no one wants your lame ass thats another. Gaffney is one of the ignorant fucks that likes to suck on Cheney"s Dick.!!!

Suck away Gaffney!!! It's a short line!

  • How short a memory ppl have when it comes to taking personal responsibility for their own behavior.

In 2001 after the Twin Towers were dropped. The intire country was in a state of shock. The support the Bush admin got was based on the info the White House shared with the American citizens.

Those of us that were AGAINST THE WAR, were told we were, "UNAMERICAN" for going against the decision to invade in the middle east.

YOU paytonsaints are a filty animal and thats an insult to ALL animals!

  • i think its funny that idiots like this fool, and others that make idiot comments , ask this idiot who voted for the war, kerry, clinton, pelosi, infact i blame democrats for this war, how dare you filthy animals go to war, its your fault,

  • doesnt have to do with democrats or republicans

they dupped everyone and scared everyone into war. and thry are now laughing it up

  • Chris keep giving the right wing morons hell.

  • Chris Matthews is generally better than this...he's reacting out of anger. As a reporter he certainly should have known better, but slip ups happen. O'Reilly doesn't visit this bad habit on weekends and holidays. He lives there full time. The proof of Matthews professionalism is whether or not this is the norm for him, and whether or not he shouts over people simply because they disagree with him.

  • He's a little upset that 5000+ Americans are dead and another 25,000+ wounded due to a LIE. The quest attempts to continue the LIE and he boils over - perfectly understandable.

  • This guy seems to use the same debate style as bill o'reilly, and is getting praise for it, but if bill yells over his guests, it's a bad thing.

I'm not saying i support bill o'reilly, just figured i would point that out.

  • O reilly is an ass.......

  • typically, I'd say let the man speak but when you say things like 4000 Americans had to die for another persons selfish reason, you need to get chewed out and look foolish. It's the least he could do. If he were near, I'd smack the unpatriotic fool in his face.

  • you want to save several trillion dollars? why do you support obama? hes spent a trillion, and is going to spend more with a stimulus package that obviously hasnt worked. i guess the trillion wasn't enough.

  • how has the stimulus package 'obviously' not worked? recessions don't flip overnight, its a gradual change. in recent weeks the stock market has improved and the housing market is picking back up so it seems the stimulus package IS working fine....oh and our troops aren't dying. that's why people all around you support obama.

  • want to save several trillion dollars? pull us out of iraq, afghanistan and use the military bases as housing for all the displaced persons we created by bombing their villages. use soldiers to protect

americans, not corporate interests. i know we need the oil, but this has been the most ineffecient and evil way to get it.

  • What I can't stand about a number of these political show hosts, whether conservative or liberal, is the simple fact that they cannot ask a single fuck question without shutting their god damn mouths and listen to the answer. This is why the US in the crisis that it is in. People would rather scream and yell and point out the other guys mistakes then sit back, listen to what they are saying, and rationalize an opinion from the DISCUSSION.

  • i agree with chris but SHUT AND LISTEN TO HIS POINT god this is why i hate chris matthews. he tries and makes the news and tries and say his opinion instead of letting the there guest says theres. which is the whole reason he had him on. these talk interviewers or what ever they are, are killing americas discourse. if you yell at your geust and tell them what you think you should not be a news man or on tv

  • I'd love to see Chris Matthews do an interview with Bill O'Reily. It'd be shouting contest HA HA HA.

  • chris needs to stop and stop trying to impress us with his opinions that are always seem to be in line with that days polling. he for the war when every is for it against it when everyone is against it. he is some ways is worst then billo

  • Im glad everyone takes your show as seriously as they take all your sources. MSNBC...way to go. You get biased information and repeat it just as the liberals give it to you.

  • It is actually more than 4000 of our soldiers killed and 646,000+ dead Iraqis

  • The latest Iraqi government figures gives 100 000 Iraqi dead. You're using stats from a smaller and outdated survey from 2006. One thing all the stats agree on is that the most common cause of Iraqi deaths = other Iraqis.

I don't find it immoral to wish that those Iraqis destablizing the country in the hopes of overthrowing the first democratically elected government in Iraqi's history be killed or at least fought, one thing is certain, it would've been a mistake to surrender to them.

  • BTW, I guess Chris won't shut his mouth long enough to find out about the shipments of yellow cake that went from Iraq to Canada. Again, don't confuse liberals with information.

  • I'll agree with you that Chris didn't shut his mouth long enough to get an answer. This seemed to be taken out of the Bill O'Reilly playbook, and he wouldn't shut his mouth and let him talk. But, as a liberal, don't pull that "don't confuse liberals with information" bullshit. The Iraq was has NOT been worth the 4000 deaths that have occured, not to mention over 600k innocent Iraqis. If America went to war with everyone who "potentially poses a threat", you'd be at war with half the world.

  • I think the biggest reason for Iraq was to shut off the oil, so OPEC would have no competition. Then later they set their sights on Venezuela with propaganda to demonize that country....Competition, wink-wink

  • 4,000 dead, I thought it was over 600,000. Obviously Iraquis don't count, right?

  • Of course not - haha! - fucking americans aye?

  • the casualties are around 600,000. probably even more. he's probably talking about american troops.

  • er yeah,

    thanks for that.

  • Thank you. NO ONE gives that number, and both right and left can be blamed for that.

  • No, some estimate that it's more than a million deaths.

  • In what way specifically?

I you're referring to Obama's spending, yeah that is a significant problem.

There needs to be a better way to stimulate the economy.

  • Like what ?

  • Unfortunately I don't know the answer to that question, but a start would be to let these Banks and other financial firms go bust by not giving them any more government money; they just keep using our taxpayer dollars for bonuses. And besides, they're insolvent.

  • Its called stay out of our lives.

  • Well that too but Republicans have their share of that as well - say, with the Patriot Act, which may I mention: many if not most Democrats voted for it.

  • Only 100million has been spent so far. Distributing all of those funds within the time needed will be very difficult. It's like Brewster's Millions. The stimulus will work, but it will take some major coordination.

  • Coordination ? After almost 10 years, there's still a big hole in south Manhattan. If coordination is the key you guys are screwed I must say.

  • Are there any intelligent Republicans, these days?

  • Yes, but you wouldn't know it if you saw it with an unreasonable attitude like that.

  • America is falling due to the proliferation of Dumbasses who shot themselves in the foot again and again buying Republican TeaBags.

Think about it? What is the 'street' definition for TeaBag?

How many Republican TeaBags does it take to make you lose consciousness?

They are Hypocrites because for all their anti-Homosexual activism they can only think of a TeaBag as their symbol of Tax Revolt.

This is the Mother of all Freudian Slips.

  • facepalm.jpg

  • can chris matthews shut his damn mouth for a minute so the guy can respond.

and who the hell is this young turks guy?

we invaded iraq for many reasons, i dont know about you, but im glad saddam hussein and thousand of al qaida and other terrorist are dead and are no longer a threat to America. i just wish we could have picked a side in iraq, sunni/shiite, and settled that racist problem they have with their country while we were at it. stupid racist. you can't fix those kinds of people.

  • Comment removed

  • Fact 1 : Al-Qaida wasn't in Iraq before the US invasion of the country.

Fact 2 : Pick a side in Iraq ? The ethnic confrontations in the Middle East date from before the US independence. Do you honestly believe that a foreign power can solve that by picking sides ? Unlikely.

  • fact 1: lol. right, every heard of google search? works real easy. there were and still are al qaeda in iraq. the question is if saddam supported them. the answer is yes. on top of that he sent money to suicide bombers families. this is sponsering terrorism.

fact 2: im sorta being sarcastic here. yes, there will always be hatred and racism. im just saying that it is too bad we couldnt pick a side, because both sides are wrong, it would have been better to take over iraq and use it's oil.

  • Fact 1: I lol'd

Fact 2: It can't solve things but it can act as an intermediary. Obviously this is a very old conflict but at least it diverted some of the hatred away from the shiites on sunnis on jews, etc. (well still on jews). That genocidal process has been halted at least slightly by the Iraq War.

  • Lol

  • tyt=little spank monkeys

  • fat sweaty spittle shooting lisping chris matthews , im sure goes to sleep at nite hugging a obama doll and inserts a long black dildo in his rectum

  • ...had taken up refuge with a terrorist faction in Baghdad. His removal was necessary.

Furthermore, Saddam Hussein was a genocidal dictator. He killed between 120,000-180,000 Kurds in the 80s and 90s with biological weapons. A WMD doesn't necessarily have to be nuclear.

Only a fool would think that Saddam didn't have biological weapons in the early 2000s.

"We know that he has stored away secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."

    -Al Gore, 2002

  • 1) "purely bad intel"?? When a government asks for a report, gets that report that says there were NO nukes and THEN turns around and say that there were...that is not "bad intel", that is distorsion and deception.

    2) When did Al-Zarqawi get to Baghdad and why?? Can you back that up with certainty? Many doubt he was even there before the invasion (but rather in the northen part of Irak) and apparently YOUR pentagone said there was NO real link between Al-Qaida and Hussein...

  • Who gave Saddam his weapons to play with?

  • Bill Clinton.

Why cover shit with more shit?

  • Right there just shows you dont know what ur talkin about. How could Bill Clinton give Saddam his weapons in the 90's when the U.S. went to war in Iraq when George Bush Sr. was president. It was Ronald Regan that gave him the weapons. Do you know why he did that? Because Saddam was at war with Iran. Saddam was a brutal dictator but why not go and take out Kim Jung Ill then. Look at his threat right now, Its larger then Saddam's threat ever was.

  • You ignorant Liar. The Nixon Adminstration hired Saddam to assasinate the Soviet leaning Kassem.

Rumsfeld and Cheney were working closely with Saddam to help him eliminate the Communist and Socialist PKK. You remember the Kurdish resistance was essentially Marxist? Or does you gnat attention-span go back that far?

And let's not forget arming Saddam to attack Iran. That was Reagan-Bush not Clinton!

  • Comment removed

  • OK fine. We all know there were no nukes. This was purely bad intel. However, a MAJOR conflict (think second gulf war) was inevitable. Hillary clinton admits that. Bill Clinton was beginning to prepare forces to destroy an "unholy axis" (1998). Furthermore, 10 of clinton's inspectors were thrown out in Oct. 98 in a nuclear-arsenal inspection (shady, hmm?)

while saddam had no direct ties to 9/11, al-Zarqawi, one of the 9/11 architects, (cont.)

  • paste this to 2 other videos

go to your channel and see your comments

    JUST DO IT IT SCARY!!!

  • More than 4000 people died in every other war the US has been in you fucking idiots. And they HAD to die. Get fucking used to it. THe world isn't some liberal cesspool echo chamber of love and peace.

Holy fucking shit, LOOK AT HISTORY

    PRE-EMPTIVE-STRIKE

    FUCKING LEARN IT

  • I don't think that for most people the problem is with the death of soldiers. When necessary, in a legitimate mission, most people would accept that. But again in Iraq, despite the disappearance of Saddam, the war was not only based on "wrong" intel but twisted intel...there is enough facts pointing to that (eg. the most telling being the complete distorsion of facts about nukes from the report that the US gov had asked for...this was not a typo or lack of proof read of Bush's speeches...)

  • Conservatives always like to portray "liberals" as naive spineless peace lovers. Using diplomacy while putting your gun on the other's temple first is not diplomacy, it's bullying and will always have blow backs. A strong defense while using diplomacy & noninterference (ie. imposing your way of life) in my view will lead to a better world than a pre-emptive mind set...this will only continue the cycle of paranoia, distrust, agression and NO, GOOD will not prevail, ever, with that mind set.

  • And further more...as you say, history is filled with exemples of pre-emptive strikes...well, is the world becoming better?? Are we evolving toward a more peaceful world with that mentality...history keeps repeating itself and unfortunately, it appears that as usual with humans, it will take a catastrophy for things to possibly change one day, for people to wake up. Sorry but it is a "fucked-up" world when people advocating peaceful solutions are viewed as idiots...

  • Yes we are. An example is the nuking of Japan. If the US didn't nuke japan we would have undoubtedly had to invade, which would have caused literally one million more deaths.

Hiroshima/nagasaki is the price we had to pay.

people had to die. life sucks.

  • ...i am sure we can maintain a pretty decent way of life without exploiting others. In parallel, just with the money spent on arms in ONE year, we could easily solve every poverty problem around the globe as well as the evironment issue. I understand the complexity of all those issues but it is still what it is...our values are skewed the wrong way. When we prioritize luxury over feeding people, curing preventable diseases, etc...nothing to be proud of.

  • I emphatically agree!

  • One last comment for now. You say US work for its economic dominance. Yes, your right...but you have to remember who else paid the price. As in the local economy, the biggest keep getting stronger and swallow the smallest, and on and on...that is why more and more is between the hands of fewer and fewer, the disparity between rich and poor keeps getting wider. It's not just about growth and self-interest, as long as the world thinks that way, we'll continue to be in deep shit...

  • As far as Iraq is concern, except for a rare few exchange soldiers, NO canadian troops went there because Canada opposed the war from the beginning. I didn't mean that invading Iraq was imperialistic per se and I understand very well that you've been imperialists eonomically, but when you have military bases or troops in over 200 countries, ...of course you are looking out for your interests (and allies) but you know...how would you feel about having other countries military between your borders

  • Comment removed

  • How does the US exploit????!! You probably think that 5 cents per hour is better than nothing, right? We're actually helping them, right?? If we paid them more, they'd have a spiraling inflation and we don't want that! Maybe in a few years, they'll get 10cents, may 50cents in a generation...what a prospect...Our companies are their for profit, period. But besides companies exploiting them, do you really think we pay a fair price for their natural resources, their fruits, veggies, coffee, ...???

  • Yes achieving things at the UN is difficult...but better attempting to reach consensus or majority that way where countries (and hopefully more as time goes on) gets to have a voice instead of temporary alliances when convenient. Mind you this is still the case anyway and part of the problem...when we'll be able to defend our sovereignty at the same time as compromise with others and have a global view, it'll work better but we're not there yet...

  • ...Some people like to blame the UN but they never rarely take acknowledge their role in its problems. If people were not solely motivated by their own self interest with short terms views, it might be more efficient.

Your mentioning mid-east...if USA stopped, as I hope Obama will do, defending every one of Israel's actions (or almost) and put pressure on BOTH parties to compromise, we might achieve something. Supporting allies does not mean we can't set them straight also at times...

  • LOL???? MATTHEWS NAILED HIM????

Matthews didn't even have his facts correct and wouldn't let the man speak, Matthews is a coward and would get ripped to shreds in a debate with him.

  • but what debate is there... the intelligence was wrong and under international law, which this guy was suggesting... (the Bush Doctrine) the US can and will invade another country if we feel that they pose a significant threat to us. other words PREEMPTIVE strike. Under intl law that's illegal and not justifiable, so the Iraq war was illegal and wrong also we found NO WMDs and the admin did try and sell us on a "mushroom cloud' scenario and it all turned out to be false. So what's the debate?

  • A few facts that some seem to forget that leave a bad taste :

    1) UN inspectors like Blix, having been on the ground for quite some time always disputed the Bush-Cheney rhetoric and intel...they also tried to discredit him btw...

    2) Jo Wilson, appointed by Bush senior wrote a report saying Irak never pruchased Uranium from Africa...Bush administration is report and said the complete opposite

    3) When Wilson called them on it...his wife is outed as CIA...if there is no link, it sure smells...

  • 4) After Saddam regime fell and chaos happened in the streets, Rumsfeld was questioned by journalist as to why they were not protecting the civilian and basic infrastructure better. He said: After 25y under a dictator, it was to be expected that chaos would happen. Question: If so, why wasn't there a plan to use the numerous soldiers on the ground for security. One fact reported however: As most ministry were looted, the one single ministry heavily garded by troops was the ministry of oil!

  • 4) continued: The administration also sold this war as a liberation of Irakians. If their welfare was so important to them, they would have planned for the "obvious" fall out after regime fall to preotect the population

  • 4) continued: And also, US government did seem to mind Saddam's dictatorship when they were supplying him arms (including bio weapons) to defend the US interests against Iran. Arms that were later used against his people btw around 1987-88 as US were still sending him arms. Of course, US attacked Irak only when he had his eyes on the Koweit Oil a couple years later...Then, they want people to believe they have the mideast population's interest in mind...

  • 5) The so-called coalition of nation included mostly insignificant states besides a few big allies like UK and Australia...most countries were against this war from the beginning. There was protest from MILLIONS of people around the world against this war eventhough sympathy for USA after the attack was very high. Do you now what it takes to get millions of people to march down the streets, especially in North America??

  • 5) continued: Even in N-Y, an estimated 300 000 to 1 million protester marched, not to mention from tens to hundreds of thousand in other cities across the US. So to those who say that the absence of WMD is at the root of the opposition, a lot of people saw clearly before all that came out. Thats unfortunate that it took that for the other to come around but better late then never...

  • Paranoid lambo admits to being illiberal. I throw my shoe at you

  • thank u chris! keep up the pressure!!!

  • Too bad matthews is a fucking douchebag as well as the host of this faggy show. Apparently they can't understand the fact that IF AMERICAN SOLDIERS DON'T DIE IN THE FIELD, AMERICAN CIVILIANS WILL DIE IN AMERICA

    HURP DURP BARACK OBAMA

  • You're a fucking idiot! No one is saying American soldiers never have to die. We're saying American soldiers didn't have to die in the Iraq war.Iraq was not a threat. Saddam butchered Al Queada and had control over his country. He had no ties to them. No WMD's. Did not play a role in 9/11. We went in there and made it a war zone breeding terrorists by the hundreds who hate us even more than before. Hide behind the soldiers and say "Better them than me!" What makes your life more important u fuck!

  • Christine Matthews is a complete fraud. He spits out the most stupid and retarded opinions as facts.

Get the damn asshole off TV! Between he and Olberdork, I'm not sure who is the worse.

  • Chris matthews is complete moron and a dickhead. he doesnt even give the guy a breathe to speak, what an asshole commie

  • No brave soldiers - just foreign terrorists. No one, except easily fooled americans, believed the lies about a nuclear threat. And, when the French pointed this out americans started a hate campaign against them. You owe the French a magor apology

  • The only people for the Iraq war were Zionists and Neocons. They are BOTH enemies of the U.S.

    BUSH TO THE HAGUE

  • About one million Iraqi people have been murdered , in their own country, by american foreign fighters.who cares about the 4000 plunderers

  • Yes. ONE MILLION PEOPLE WERE EXECUTED BY THE AMERICANS.

Give me one single fucking source for that bullshit fact you stupid liberal piece of shit.

  • Let me ask you something.Let's say that he could source it. Let's say it is an indisputable fact. So what?Seriously, so what? I'd like to know how that would change your opinion on anything?Does the number really matter to you? I mean if it is 500,000 lives, does that make you feel less guilty? I mean let's face it, they're not Americans anyways. What would it take for you to just CONSIDER, not even decide, but just consider that this war should never have been waged?

  • wait wtf are you responding to

  • you asking the other guy to give you a source on the figure of 1 million Iraqis(which I agree is probably 3 times the actual figure) being killed since the war started. My question to you is, assuming the figure is accurate, so what? It wouldn't change your mind on the Iraq war as a whole anyway, so why ask him for a source. It could be 2 million killed. Big deal. At least we're safe right?

  • Except its nowhere near that. Remember that any civilian casualties are a) immoral and need to be avoided and b) extremely detrimental to image. The people killed in iraq volunteered themselves to fight against America (which happens to let Iraqis use their field hospitals), and the number is nowhere near one million. Not even fucking close. Give me one fucking source to back that up.

National security is a priority. Obama is an incompetent dunce who doesn't know how the world REALLY works.

  • Way to answer the question and thanks for reminding me that civilian casualties are immoral. Oh and I'm sure it's a big consolation to the surviving family members of innocent Iraqi civilians (whatever the figure is) that the U.S. image has been smudged. "Obama doesn't know how the world really works." But you do right? And so does John McCain. You can't even answer one simple question that I asked you twice now? What would it take for you to consider the Iraq invasion a mistake?

  • For me to consider the Invasion a mistake the US would have had to have utterly failed in creating a fledgling democracy. It did that mission. We all know that there were no WMDs, but ultimately, one of the most genocidal leaders in history (ever heard of the Kurds?) was removed from power.

I don't know about you, but if I was an Iraqi I would rather be under US control where I can useUS field hospitals and get (some) food rather than under a bashit insane zealot dictator.

    But that's just me.
