its been a LONG time since I played this game and was thinking of playing the GBA version, am I remembering correctly that in this game the enemies get stronger when you do, in other words the game is actually HARDER when your level 99 vs say level 40?
Your'e missing a class. It's called Mimic. You get it by going to the water tower that is underwater,go through the whole temple in 7 minutes, and then fight a boss that requires you to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for 4 minutes.but then you have to go back out the temple the way you came in.see RPG Classic's information on this.
There are two places you can auto train. Near the end at a place called 'the N-zone' and also the desert place where you fight the Antilion boss. If you all the characters have berserk ability on then try to climb a sand dune and you fall down again. So you need to set up a controller with the up and 'x' button held down. If you put on one as a bare (freelance) or mime then passive abilities such as dash and the like are also equipped on the bare for free as long as you have mastered the job
I always try to beat iron titans in the rift, in the castle. The give you 2500 or 5000 exp to your whole party and if u have exp. up ability (playing GBA version now cause SNES does not work) u get even more exps :3
I like to train in the final area, there are some enemies called "mover" on the last screen that give massive ABP. You get for a group of 3 199 ABP and 150000 gil. It´s AMAZING!!
Once you get the second world and have the submarine, much earlier than that, the place covered in this video is the best. The key to good leveling grounds is being easy, fast, and early, in order of high to low priority.
@ulillillia when your at world 3 go to the top left corner of the map go to boat fight sea devils and big butterflys you get 13 ability points [i have mime it takes 999 ap now im at 714 its fast]
The desert surrounding the Pheonix Tower has enemies that arent much harder (landcrawler is an exception but can be killed with doom or x-zone most of the time) and he gives you 7 abp and 800 exp. the others give you 900 exp. and 4 abp.
The Phoenix Tower is available only at the end of the game. This place is accessible in the second world, as soon as you get the submarine which makes it among the best places to be.
Omega is the problem. I couldn't dodge it because its motions were so random. I got mime (obtained only after I mastered everything else) mastered in about 10 minutes, all without taking HP damage (because of Sshot).
yea the best place to get ap BY FAR is in the void by the last save point. there are monsters there called "mover."(thats is the name of them in the gba version, might be different for ps and snes but they are still there) now, they dont give any exp, but they do give a whopping 250000 gil and even more amazing 199 ap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! trust me, thats the best in the game for job mastery. yea. man i just beat neo shinryu on the gba, it made feel pretty accomplished! evrything else in the extra dungeon, with omega mk. II a possible exception, was a cakewalk.
yeah u do get stronger becuse wen a class is mastered certain stats are transfered to bare or mime...maybe a few more and somtimes like wen u master ninja u get the auto ability they have =] buuut mastering a fewe things decrease others eg white mage but master em all youll be undeafetable
i seen in the void there a group of enemies called walkers not sure wat vid is called but theres a vid of someone fightin and beatin em then gettin 199 AP per fight
I think you're referring to the Phoenix Tower instead, the one where magic pots are found. This was a training ground upon realizing the great benefits of Sshot.
Sandworms take a long time to defeat and are actually more of a hinderance. Sure they're worth more EXP, but I'd rather be getting 800 EXP in a 40-second battle than even 2000 EXP in a 2-minute battle. It's the rate per unit of time that EXP is gained that matters.
I'm talking about in the waterfall cave just near it. I used that to gain lots of abilities, but mind you that I have the PS1 version so it my be different. But it looks the same.
The enemy called "Dingleberry" is what ruins it. That thing takes a long time to get rid of and when mastering jobs not devoted to physicals, things like Sshot is practically useless. And yes, this is the PS1 version, the only one I'm aware of.
Actually, it's very effective. It ignores the enemy's defense, it never misses, it can wipe out many enemies in one turn, and it overrides the 9999 damage limit. Watch my "easiest way to defeat enemies" video and take note on just how effective it really is. I got rid of Shinryu with using nothing but this and did it before it got to act and I was only level 74 or something at the time....
I'm talking about using it to kill a whole group and it only killing one. add that with the 20 second waiting period makes it rather annoying. but yes "when it works right", it is magnificent.
There is no 20-second waiting period. Watch the "easiest way to defeat enemies" video and you'll see this. I defeat enemies before they get to act. I thus never have to bother with casting cure, unless enemies can counter it. You are right, however, it may strike an already-defeated enemy having no effect. This is only bad if all 4 strikes are used on it with the first defeating it. If 2 are "lost", you still have a net gain because of the defense-ignoring effect.
It still executes instantly and if you have all four characters going at it, especially with all of them having the "bare" job after everything is mastered. Just look at the mathematics once. Let's say you have 5 enemies. The chances of striking all 4 hits on just one enemy are a very low 1 in 625. On the first round, there's a very good chance you'll get 3 enemies in the first turn if they can be one-hitted. On the next round, the other 2 have a fairly decent chance.
Also generally when levelling, I kill off my entire team except for one person, and level them like that, they get all the exp so they level up faster, though in the grand scheme of things it's the same speed, but oh well, I prefer doing it that way.
Oh, hey, new video. Great. Anyways, you're aware of the mover enemies towards final ExDeath, right? They give 150 abp apiece and job levels come absurdly quickly.
Actually, they're worth 150,000 gil and 199 ABP for the entire set. Also, it's "X-Death", not "ExDeath". I did it to master mime. That area also has the best music in the game. I especially like the half-note-spaced bass that alternates between high and low frequency for the most part. Also, two areas before the starting area of the space area is the best for leveling - get two iron giants for 5000 EXP, defeated before they act with the hint given in my newest video.
Well actually, in the Gamebody Advance port, his name is translated to Exdeath, and I kind of figured that one would be more accurate since it's more recent, but oh well. Iron Giants, eh? I should probably give that a shot. Omega MK-2 on FFV Advance (I don't think he's on the Playstation version) is a pain; He's much tougher than regular Omega and I need to build some levels to take him down. Anyways, keep up the good work, I've been watching your videos for a while and I like being informed.
To get there, you have to get past Omega, and I wasn't able to, so I went with this area. Perhaps, you could make use of the trick in my latest video for making quick work of enemies, best done with either ninjas, a mime, or being jobless (bare).
I wanted to say that this video helps a whole lot. I've been playing FFV, and I had to take a break because of how monotonous the leveling got near the end. With what you discovered, I can easily speed up the process by like a magnitude of 5x. Thanks!
It's 950 EXP and 4.4 ABP per battle as an average. I have yet to find something better. Yet, this area is accessible as early as the second world, upon getting the submarine. At level 68, you need 120,000 EXP to level up. I'm thinking that level 98 may need 250,000 EXP. I've only seen FF12 go past needing 100,000 EXP for a level up (500,000+ for the last level in 12).... I don't know what 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 13 uses, however.
Just yesterday, I finished my task, mastering all jobs. With this, I put "2-handed" and "Sshot" on someone and put on the best sword possible and the damage done on a single enemy is 15,000, when combined. You also get a lot of HP and MP as well, more than pretty much every job. The fact that lava is completely harmless (while getting the third lithograph), you can dash at extreme speeds, etc., it's worth the effort.
As far as I know, except for FF12 due to the design of its battle system, spells, except restorative ones like cure and esuna, can only be used in battle so I never think of it. With those legendary weapons, I'm now doing 17,000 damage with 2-handed and Sshot. Too bad that character (Ben in my case since I don't know the real one as it wasn't provided) can't take on a support role other than using items. I kind of wished I could set 3 abilities instead of just 2, but it does add challenge.
Float is actually usable in FF4-6 for damage floors. I think FFIV had a few levels full of damage floors, and no Geomancer\Elemental class, so Float was pretty useful there. Also, the main character of FFV's default name is Butz.
FF6 has damage floors? I haven't seen any and I've completed the game (although I didn't find Locke and two other characters afterwards). I've never seen nor played FF4 so I don't know anything about it. Just yesterday, I found the mime job class and an even better training ground. With my setup, which no longer uses magic, I can take on an enemy with 50,000 HP in just the first round (assuming it doesn't have protect)! Expect to see a video of this a little later.
Also, while trying to not spoil anything, I think you are missing a job. Think of a place where you weren't able to get a crystal and go back to that area now.
Once I master all of the jobs, of which I'm very close to now, I'll be on the look out. I still need 2 lithographs and should know where one of them is (where the waterfall is near where Easterly Village was), but the other remains to be found. I've still got plenty of searching to do yet....
In the next to the last area of the game, right before the final boss, there are enemies that you can fight for a ton of ABP (150 if I recall per kill). If you save and reload the game they will always be the second enemy you fight in the area.
I'm not that far in the story yet. I've got 2 of the lithographs so far, the one in the pyramid, and the other on a tiny island across a bridge. I don't want to be spoiled so don't mention where the others are. Keep in mind that this is my first play through although the game is nearly 2 years in the works....
They are fairly similar in ways, but unlike spending fast-to-get JP, you have to do a lot of battles to master every job. FFT could have all jobs mastered for 5 characters in probably 20 to 30 hours, but this game takes a lot longer, about 70 to 100 hours from what I'm getting at the moment and this is the fastest way I know of.
Well, I got stuck, during the first world, in what to do next in terms of the story. This was before I got the airship. I had something to do then revisit the Library of the Ancients followed by the sand dunes. That's where I got stuck. I had to consult a guide to get unstuck, but that, so far, is the only time and case I used one. I'm going to need to do the same with FF9, if I find it again. From best to worst, it's FF2, FF7 (very close), FF Tactics, then FF12. FF5 is near the bottom.
I ran out of characters. FF5 is 2/3 of the way toward the bottom. The full order, from best to worst, is FF2, FF7 (very close), FF Tactics, FF6 (very close; I forgot about this one), FF12 (close), FF5, FF1, FF9, then FF8. I haven't played FF3, FF4, FF10, FF11 (I refuse this one - it's online-based), FF13 (may be years before I first get it since the system is way too pricy) and whatever else there may be that I'm unaware of.
FF10 and 11 aren't good. FF3 is a lot like 5 with job systems but it is much less complex and I found the game to be not much fun. FF4 is a classic though and you should play it.
Too bad you don't have a gameboy advance. Square enix re-released FF4,FF5, and FF6 with new dungeons and other things which really add some replay value to the game.
If the system is handheld, the odds of me getting it, even if dirt cheap, are next to nothing. I've heard of some combination game with "Final Fantasy" in the name that had FF4 in it. Where 3 is, that I don't know.
Castle Bal? I'm aware of Tycoon, Walz, Kuza, Val, and one other, but not "Bal". I don't have LV5 Death so that route is useless to me. If it's for the blue mage, then that may be why - I've got just 3 items there: "aqua rake", "????", and "MP Hammer". I'm also supposedly missing a summon, on the row where Ramuh and Ifrit are. Given other FF titles, it's probably Shiva, but I haven't seen or encountered her yet.... I could use her on these enemies though.
It's probably Val in your version. I always pick up Lv5 Death from Death Claw, but I'm pretty sure you can get it in the third world too. Shiva is in Castle Walz, but I don't know if you can get her in the third world.
Castle Walz is gone in the third world. I don't think I've seen "death claw" yet. What version do you have? I have the US NTSC version under "Final Fantasy Anthology" for the PS1, which is also where I got FF6 from. Keep in mind that this is my first playthrough of the game... almost 2 years into it now.
your voice is funny hehehe. good review though.

Requiem only works on the undead and the Great Trench (underwater toward the eastern side of the map) is full of undead random battles.
With those battles still being worth more then 1200 exp and the AP isn't that bad either.
Veghesther 2 years ago
If you only have a few items then I wouldn't recommed leveling at both the location shown on this video or via the phoenix towers desert.
Instead I would level up at the Great Treach via the sub since Requiem works on every random battle their and songs don't use up ANY MP.
Yes 4x Requiem users usually kills the undead via th Great Trench in 1 turn.
Veghesther 2 years ago
As far as I've experienced, songs have no effect....
ulillillia 2 years ago
Well most of the monsters on the way to the Phoenix Tower via the desert on the overworld map can be instant killed via LV 3 Flare.
But they are worth more exp and GP then the monsters fought on this video.
Also LV 3 flares base MP cost is only 18.
Veghesther 2 years ago
... and if you don't have it (Blue magic, at this time, only had 3 or 4 items!), then what?
ulillillia 2 years ago
Outside the Phoenix cave all but 1 monster can be killed via LV 3 Flare which also ends the battle in under 45 seconds.
Sure most battles are also worth 4 AP but you also gain over 1000 exp per kill.
The other monster ie the one that level 3 flare doesn't work on is worth 7 AP and kill it with Death spells before it Maelstroms the entire party,
Also those same monsters do have MP to drain off them (cast float just in case) since 1 monster may use earthshaker and it hurts.

Dude, he's playing a game. The goal of playing games is to have fun, and watching his videos it's seems clear that he's having achieving that.

I hope the irony here of the importance of the "Asper" ability is not lost on all of you.

Nice and subtle.

Also, while trying to not spoil anything, I think you are missing a job. Think of a place where you weren't able to get a crystal and go back to that area now.
halflife230 3 years ago
Once I master all of the jobs, of which I'm very close to now, I'll be on the look out. I still need 2 lithographs and should know where one of them is (where the waterfall is near where Easterly Village was), but the other remains to be found. I've still got plenty of searching to do yet....
ulillillia 3 years ago
In the next to the last area of the game, right before the final boss, there are enemies that you can fight for a ton of ABP (150 if I recall per kill). If you save and reload the game they will always be the second enemy you fight in the area.
halflife230 3 years ago
I'm not that far in the story yet. I've got 2 of the lithographs so far, the one in the pyramid, and the other on a tiny island across a bridge. I don't want to be spoiled so don't mention where the others are. Keep in mind that this is my first play through although the game is nearly 2 years in the works....

It's amazing that you respond to every comment on your own time.

I don't respond to all of them. There's a good chance I do though. Some just have nothing to comment on at all.

Nice to see you've updated your profile, man. keep the excellent vids coming!

How similar are the jobs in FF5 to the jobs in FFTactics?
I love FFT but I have only ever played FFVII in the Final Fantasy series.
EldricIV 3 years ago
They are fairly similar in ways, but unlike spending fast-to-get JP, you have to do a lot of battles to master every job. FFT could have all jobs mastered for 5 characters in probably 20 to 30 hours, but this game takes a lot longer, about 70 to 100 hours from what I'm getting at the moment and this is the fastest way I know of.

You can pick the game up for the game boy advanced. It adds a really awesome dungeon to the end as well as some great new jobs.

Well done man, this video makes me want to play Final Fantasy 5 now.. How would you rank it compared to the other games in the FF series?
TheWisestWizards 3 years ago
Well, I got stuck, during the first world, in what to do next in terms of the story. This was before I got the airship. I had something to do then revisit the Library of the Ancients followed by the sand dunes. That's where I got stuck. I had to consult a guide to get unstuck, but that, so far, is the only time and case I used one. I'm going to need to do the same with FF9, if I find it again. From best to worst, it's FF2, FF7 (very close), FF Tactics, then FF12. FF5 is near the bottom.
ulillillia 3 years ago
Thats too bad. 5 is my favorite because of all the jobs. I thought it had some of the best enemies as well like omega or shinryuu.
halflife230 3 years ago
I ran out of characters. FF5 is 2/3 of the way toward the bottom. The full order, from best to worst, is FF2, FF7 (very close), FF Tactics, FF6 (very close; I forgot about this one), FF12 (close), FF5, FF1, FF9, then FF8. I haven't played FF3, FF4, FF10, FF11 (I refuse this one - it's online-based), FF13 (may be years before I first get it since the system is way too pricy) and whatever else there may be that I'm unaware of.
ulillillia 3 years ago
FF10 and 11 aren't good. FF3 is a lot like 5 with job systems but it is much less complex and I found the game to be not much fun. FF4 is a classic though and you should play it.
Too bad you don't have a gameboy advance. Square enix re-released FF4,FF5, and FF6 with new dungeons and other things which really add some replay value to the game.
halflife230 3 years ago
If the system is handheld, the odds of me getting it, even if dirt cheap, are next to nothing. I've heard of some combination game with "Final Fantasy" in the name that had FF4 in it. Where 3 is, that I don't know.
ulillillia 3 years ago
Final Fanstasy Anthology was a PS1 release of FF4 and FF5 if that's what you mean.
FF3 I don't think existed over here until it was ported to the DS recently. It's basically FF5 without the plot though. Not very good.
DeoMachina 3 years ago
Wrong. FF Anthology included FF5 and FF6, but not FF4. Go look it up at game spot or something and you'll see that it has 5 and 6.
ulillillia 3 years ago
Sorry I'm in the UK so I had the PAL release. It turns out we got 4 and 5 while the NTSC release got 5 and 6. And Japan got all three!

My favorite place to master jobs is the basement of Castle Bal. Lv5 Death will kill anything there and every encounter gives either 4 or 8 ABP.
Knayno 3 years ago
I could use her on these enemies though.
ulillillia 3 years ago
It's probably Val in your version. I always pick up Lv5 Death from Death Claw, but I'm pretty sure you can get it in the third world too. Shiva is in Castle Walz, but I don't know if you can get her in the third world.
Knayno 3 years ago
Castle Walz is gone in the third world. I don't think I've seen "death claw" yet. What version do you have? I have the US NTSC version under "Final Fantasy Anthology" for the PS1, which is also where I got FF6 from. Keep in mind that this is my first playthrough of the game... almost 2 years into it now.
ulillillia 3 years ago
I have the Gameboy Advance version.
