  • It's Melanie Sykes btw

  • Sarah Parish did star in one ad for Boddingtons as did 'duck face' from four weddings, this however IS NOT Sarah Parish !

  • This hasgot to be one of the best ads of all time. I remember having to study it for Marketing years ago, it was awesome, there are so many little homages and nods in such a small ad, it's amazing, and it's so funny! love the fact there is just this well tanned, good looking man wanders in with the classic and romantc line : By 'eck, a sell gorgeous tonight, petal!

  • I remember this coming out and was dying to find out who the music was by...It took me 15 years to find out !! its Smoke rings by Roger Webb on music DeWolfe label .

  • @gpo746 It's Production Music, that's why. Unfortunately there's loads of production music out there that is awesome, but not available for release, without bring a registered roduction company, all you can do is listen to it online.

  • @gpo746 It's Production Music, that's why. Unfortunately there's loads of production music out there that is awesome, but not available for release, without bring a registered roduction company, all you can do is listen to it online. Cheers for the name though!

  • the Sarah Parish one is from1994 and is on youtube, she's Vera hehe

  • Boddington's is what heaven must taste like.

  • THAT IS DEFINITELY NOT ANNA CHANCELLOR-"DUCKFACE"OUT OF FOUR WEDDINS AND A WEDDIN AND THE UPPLER-CRUST LESBIAN LOVER OF RACHEL STIRLING OUT OF "TIPPIN THE VELVET"

  • By eck! You smell gorgeous tonight petal !

  • what the fuck is this.. british beer :(

  • Thanks for sharing. I loved it. It's worth seeing.

  • boddingtons this 1 s yours

  • A bit obscure...but I love the sound effects! The "blip" at 0:19 and the "slurp" at 0:34

  • One of my favourite ads of all time!

  • What I wonder is, why a bee in the logo? There's no taste of honey in Boddingtons. Let's it's a hot day outside and you're enjoying a cold pint of Manchester's finest. All of a sudden a bee comes and stings you.

What on earth do bees have to do with Manchester's signature cream ale?

  • Its the symbol of Manchester, something to do with the WORKERS (sorry, slight slip in to Engles there!)

  • The actress is Sarah Parish, I went to school with her. She's also in the chip fat Boddingtons ad.

  • No it isn't. I know who the actress is, but she has asked me not to publish her name.

  • @atariman1988 yes it is! Its is sarah parish. Listen to RodinUK.

  • @mramo - It isn't. The actress has been in contact after her name was accidentally mentioned on here by her son. I removed her details at her request. I don't think she's in the business anymore.

  • @atariman1988 I agree - it is not Sarah Parish

  • @atariman1988 From Wiki sarah parish

After training at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts in London, her appearance in a cult advert for Manchester-based Boddingtons bitter in 1994 (as Vera, who likes nothing better than "a good rub down with chip fat") led to a series of roles as Northern women, including Dawn Rudge in Peak Practice (1993), Allie Henshall in Cutting It (2002), Annie Naylor in Trust and Natalie Holden in Blackpool (2004)

  • @RussMusiq1 - OK, but this ad is from 1992 not 1994.

  • It's Anna Chancellor.

  • @RodinUK caroline lynsey? she's a bidtv presenter now

  • @RodinUK Her name is Debby Carr and she has no problem talking about it in this article menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/life_and_style/s/1418458_by-eck---the-first-boddingtons-girl-is-still-gorgeous

  • Is Boddingtons even that popular in Britain?

  • I would imagine so, it's been around for over 200 years..they have it here in the states to and it's excellent beer.

  • "By 'eck! Ya smell gorjus tonite pet!"

  • @powerhousechipmunk23 he says "petal", well more like "peh-ull" ;)

  • what's the music? anyone know?

  • i've been wanting to know what the music is for ages.

its on episode "supersnout" (seriees 2 episode 3 of The Sweeney 15/09/75.

any body know what that is?

and who is the actress? I think its not Anna Chancellor who was in the "ice cream" ad

  • That's funny it was used in The Sweeney. I also heard it in Morse! I don't know which episode, unfortunately, one of later ones, anyway.

That's definitely not Anna Chancellor. She was in Kavanagh QC, (also with John Thaw) and she looked totally different back then.

  • The music is called "Smoke Rings". I can't remember who it's by though. I have it on tape (remember that?) somewhere. I'll try and find it.

  • Many thanks fremlinskent - 'Smoke Rings', by DeWolfe Music. I had been wondering what this music is for years.

  • You read my mind,Vol, I watched that sweeney episode the other day and instantly thought of this ad. Glad the post below tells us what the music is.

  • Mel Sykes was the Ice Cream girl.

  • The track is called "Smoke Rings" by Roger Webb, and can be freely downloaded as an mp3 at:

'thesweeney' with an org suffix, then click 'music' tab.

  • I LOVE YOU !!

  • The woman looks like my ex, dark and pretty, cool sophisticated advert. 5/5

  • Everyone talks about the Mel Sykes ones. But this is my fave!

  • this was the bods ad i was looking for originaly

    nice to see it again

  • What a great ad! Who is the actress ??
