I take the American Kenpo Karate four times a week. I do not teach, but from my observation he was in a perfect stance. And to people fake that they teach kenpo....seriously, Get a life. If your going to insult a high rank just go take a hike~ It's rude to insult someone higher than you and then act so childish. Aren't you adults? -_-
Only one kempo player was in the UFC and he did not do so well. It is not a strong art, any boxer would shred these moves in the street and anywhere else. Parker was just as bad.
@clearcombat Ummm...chuck liddell is kenpo, and he literally ws the reaso nthat the UFC crossed over. And guess what? THE UFC IS NOT THE VALIDATION FOR ANY MARTIAL ART.I have respect for you, clearcombat,we just disagree very much on this point.Again, compare this Alternating Maces technique to my video interpretation of it,and you'll see a tremendous difference...and it's STILL KENPO.
Why doesn't Mr. Palanzo get his opponents arms offline with his inward block as he describes in his commentary? Why is there clearly no forward bow in Mr. Palanzo's demonstration even though he later refers to it? Why is Mr. Palanzo niether using mid point balance nor a shuffle with his backfist, where does he expect the power to come from?
Kempo (Koei-Kan) is not Parkers American Kenpo. The various arts that are called "kenpo" or "kempo" in Japan do not necessarily share any lineage, theory or technical corpus. What Chuck trains in is different from Parker's system. They are two different styles. Although Joe is not demonstrating either. In most cases, you are right, it's just a Romanization of the Pronunciation. But just because he is a black belt in Kempo, doesnt mean he is a black belt in all Kenpo, not in Parkers Kenpo.
In UFC 3 I think, I cant recall his name, Keith Hackney I think. Was a practitioner of White Tiger Kenpo. You can plainly see that the basics of the art can be used very well, but this art really is not made for tournament fighting. When you are not allowed groin shots, broken knees, snapped elbows, or chops to the throat, you have eliminated a great portion of the art that makes it stand out to begin with. It's really tailored to save your life, not win a trophy.

I don't think you guy's get it! It's an ABC system that allows you to follow through if the first move does not stop the attack. All the moves are not really needed but are just there in case the first one does not work and also part of the system. Like my old kenpo teacher (John Woods) from Baltimore said "How much strenght does it take to poke a man in the eye". And I asked "So why are there my moves?" and he said "Because kenpo is my art and it is a beautiful art".
