All the other "artistic" videos out there are someone elses clips that they say is there own.
What kind of martingale thingamajig is on the horse at 3:20? It has straps that go around the horse's legs. I haven't seen anything like that here in the States, at least not on the west coast.
Hi NumberThirteen7 - have a look at some of the very early comments on this video. There's discussion on what exactly the rig-up is called and what it's for.
Great video! I'm adding it to my favorites. I always watch jumping videos the night before my lessons but most of them are fuzzy, too fast, or feature falls. Not yours. Really nice. Thanks for making it.
Hi sweetcowgirlbabe - you'll have to look through the comments. Two or three people have said what they think it is although there is some disagreement? 'Fraid I don't know myself!
The thing that is attached to the martingale on the horse at 3:02-3:31 is for preventing the legs to go for lengt back, or something somthing like that i think!
I can just about jump 1.60,Extremelly difficult,The first few times i tried ju mping that high,I popped out of my stirips in mid air and fell right on the jump and broke my leg.(Ouch) Well done tho.
some people are born for it... but you get people that just go for the lessons cause they wanna prove something to a classmate such as "i dont know why you ride it is so easy" so they take the lessons to prove something but it is not as easy as it looks....I've only had 4 lessons in my life my mom used to ride as a kid so she teaches me most of the things i know.
Those people who want to be good at riding just for those show-off purposes are the ones who aren't born for it. They always end up quitting. I guess the people who are born for it keep going. My advice to anybody: never ride without taking riding lessons.
I know lots of people that tried to prove me wrong when i said it wasn't easy. great vid at 3:20 i was observing it it looks like it has pads to protect the elbow in case the horse tucks w/ his legs more forword. just like the girth with the wide center protects the belly from being cut
A lot of race horses use trotting hopple. I am not 100% sure that is what it is, but I searched for it and a picture of what the horse came up as a trotting hopple. =P Someone told me it is used so the horse doesnt extend so much going towards a fence making it harder to find a good take off. =D
In high jumping like this, they usally ride past the good distance to get deeper, because with longer spots it waste more time in the air, and in jumpers every second counts! Thats probably why they use a "trotting hopple"
