  • @TommyTheHorse

Thanks (: very well done btw

  • C'est si beau au ralenti ^_^

  • That poor horse at 3:20 ! That looked very harsh! what the heck was it?!?!?

  • das cul :)

  • WOW amazing! that is so cool how you got those shots! lol.

  • that was brilliant, you captured some pretty sweet jumps there :D beautiful!

  • beautiful:) such talented jumpers

  • those white horse are gorguzz :) i have always wanted a white horse lovely video :)

  • Grey horse ;) lol

  • I know what it is!! It's meant for the protection of his 'elbows' when it's up .. so he can damage his own legs with his hoofs.

  • great jumping the girl witht he light grey horse, what are those things on the bays legs in the front

  • Thats prettie good! :P

  • great jumping!

  • very good!!!!it' s beautifullll

  • what the hell was that thing of the horses legs?

  • um, they were moving

  • it's called a studguard. the horses usually have studs put it to prevent them from slipping in the sand/grass....

  • You Did A Good Job, This Is Really Good, Love the Horses On It :)

  • 2:28 what a beautiful horse :-D

good job on this love it :-D

  • great video !! a dunt wanna sound mean but sorry if it sounds tht way but i think if it had livelyer music on it it would be bettter but youve gorra use wt uv got and uv done a brill job of it well done !!! xx

  • I agree that some other sound would have been better, I put of the sound off the video and put on Tainted Love - Marilyn Manson and then it was easier to see the video..

  • i really like your video better than any of the other "artistic" videos out there, mainly because all of the shots in this video are yours. The shots were beautiful and the video had a wonderful flow....

All the other "artistic" videos out there are someone elses clips that they say is there own.

  • whats that horse wearing on 3:22???

  • A breastplate. I think.

  • It looks to me like it's some sort of leg protection, kind of like a bellyguard but for the legs.

  • quase da minha altura so q eu so maior

  • What kind of martingale thingamajig is on the horse at 3:20? It has straps that go around the horse's legs. I haven't seen anything like that here in the States, at least not on the west coast.

  • Hi NumberThirteen7 - have a look at some of the very early comments on this video. There's discussion on what exactly the rig-up is called and what it's for.

  • Thanks! I've never heard of trotting hopples, but that seems to be the unanimous decision on what that contraption is.

  • @NumberThirteen7 It is not a martingale it is to protekt the albue of the horse

  • @NumberThirteen7 i think its a step up from a martingale(i've never seen one like that before either!)

  • awesome video! definiatly captures the essiance of horses

  • Great video! I'm adding it to my favorites. I always watch jumping videos the night before my lessons but most of them are fuzzy, too fast, or feature falls. Not yours. Really nice. Thanks for making it.

  • it also helps drown out sound so more nervy or easily disrupted horse scan focus on jumping rather than crouds.

  • It keeps the flies off their ears so they can concentrate on jumping instead of the flies.

  • LOOOOOL!

  • Why do some of the horses have those things on their ears? Is it just for decoration? :P

  • the horse at 3:20 had interesting equipment on, i've never seen that before. Amazing video!

  • Tres bien! i loved it :) well done with the filming too =]

  • no way is that 1:4, i'm jumpin 1:6 and it's smaller than them.

  • its in meters....

  • @angelusgirl95 Maybe you're getting units confused? Or maybe you're confused altogether because 1.60m is World Cup height

  • wow, you do a very great job!!!

  • that photography is amazing!!! Well Done! Great Work! Love it!

  • perfect film :) 5 stars 4 you

  • Amazing

    Jumping

  • 3:44 bellissimo !!

  • 0:13 looks like my horse :D

  • they all make this sport look so easy

  • Those horses are GORGEOUS!!

  • i dont think people know how amazing horses r better than boys, cars well anything

  • I am sure its been asked already, but I can't find where the answer is lol...

What kind of thing is attached to the martingale on the horse at 3:02 - 3:31??

What does it do? Looks interesting!

    Nice video!

  • Hi sweetcowgirlbabe - you'll have to look through the comments. Two or three people have said what they think it is although there is some disagreement? 'Fraid I don't know myself!

  • The thing that is attached to the martingale on the horse at 3:02-3:31 is for preventing the legs to go for lengt back, or something somthing like that i think!

  • wow tha vid makes jumpin look soo easy! which i bet it is once yav learned how to do it, im jus learnin, im shit hah. kwl vid xXx

  • Oh, wow. :)

  • Holy crap... that grey on 0:43 is a beast. That was HUGE.

    W-W-OOOO-W.

  • I do that all mornings when Im asleep xD (jk)

  • aww.. nice :)

who's the rider in all of these pictures/videos?

  • this is a very nice video. how many horses do you own?

  • Thanks for the nice comment lol7311 - we have three ponies and one horse although we've just recently sold one of the ponies.

  • I wouldnt call this an attempt, I call it a sucess!!!! :D

  • di ehoogte spring ik met mijn pony en metmijn paard 165 :D,

  • Interessant...

  • this is really cool, do you go to shows and video and take pictures?

  • Hi HunterJumperGirl40 - yes, I take videos at practically all the shows I go to with my daughter :-)

  • wish i could jump that high

  • nice vid awesome

i hope that one day i can jump like that!!

  • nice vid, well done!

  • V nice video!!! thk u!!

they are so talented ! Congratulations!! :)

  • I wanna be as good as that. :)

    Nice video.

  • nicely done!

  • I can just about jump 1.60,Extremelly difficult,The first few times i tried ju mping that high,I popped out of my stirips in mid air and fell right on the jump and broke my leg.(Ouch) Well done tho.

  • I would never have thought that it's so hard. It looks so easy when they do it.

  • You have no idea lol,I know us riders make it look so easy becuause were born to do it

  • Do you mean you riders who have had riding lessons since you were born? This is a learned skill, I don't think you can be born with it.

  • some people are born for it... but you get people that just go for the lessons cause they wanna prove something to a classmate such as "i dont know why you ride it is so easy" so they take the lessons to prove something but it is not as easy as it looks....I've only had 4 lessons in my life my mom used to ride as a kid so she teaches me most of the things i know.

  • Those people who want to be good at riding just for those show-off purposes are the ones who aren't born for it. They always end up quitting. I guess the people who are born for it keep going. My advice to anybody: never ride without taking riding lessons.

  • I know lots of people that tried to prove me wrong when i said it wasn't easy. They would get upset if i said netball is a "easy Sport" (even though i knew it wasn't) i would always tell them to come to the yard and come and ride my horses....then...just maybe, you can tell me it is easy! none of them came :P too chicken i guess :) *laughing out loud* I wouldn't say i'm the best rider, but i have taught MANY kds to ride...one of them.....

  • You can't be born with it. Horse riding isn't a talent like track and field, soccer, etc... You must learn it, if they put you on a horse and you've never been on one before, chances are you're going to hit the ground, UNLESS the horse is professionally trained, but that's a different story.

  • I think everyone is taking a whole different approach on this. There are 2 different sayings going on. One is You were born able to ride, which is wrong. and then theres "You were born to ride" which means you have a natural talent.

  • You cant be born knowing how ot ride. you may be born with good balance and a good seat. But you cant be born knowing how to ride.

I have had lessons with other people because I like to have the variety of who teaches me as all teachers focus on different things.

You probably won a small local competition. But it is unlikely that you got to the top with only lessons from your mum, unless your mum is a top rider.

  • acctualy got a 5th place on my mare at her VERY FIRST show! i was sooo impressed! Her mother didn't pay me for the lessons but now she realised how well emma can ride and has her at a riding school :) it was a showjumping show :)

  • i do half agree with you, people have said to me you were born able to ride, but i still take lessons, yeah your born with or iwthout balence but you can't just hop on a horse and go to the olympics because ypur "born with it" you do need lessons i also would reconmend taking lesson as well.

  • they make look so easy...

good job with ur attempt turned out really awesome

  • you have gorgeous photography and video skills, good job!

  • awesome attempt! The video is way cool! Love the music, very low-key and cool. At 1:16 the rider shouldn't have been looking back, no rider should ever look back, you can't fix the past! Here in the U.S. its crucial you don't look back. Some judges take off points for that. But awesome horses! and great riders!

    xo

    V

  • Thanks for the comments horsebackriderlover! Most of the classes over here are about going clear and the time taken, so there are no penalties for looking back or doing something that isn't stylish. No rider should look back but it's a natural reaction in a lot of people. We do have classes that are judged on style but marks can vary so much depending on who the judges are.

  • ok. that makes sense. and i agree about the judges. that kind of competition makes things a little bit easier! lol

    xo

    V

  • agreed.

that rider shouldn't have looked back.

    great vid.

  • i want the grey

  • (1:17) you look back, you shuldnt do that!

  • to bad the bay with the blaze knocked a pole down!

  • horses are amazing animals I LOVE THEM

  • wow! This was all your own filming?? A fantastic video!

  • luv it!!

  • the grey horse with the chick riding him is SOOOO NICE!! so is the bay with the grackle

    great vid (Y)

  • nice!!!

  • I've never seen a race horse wear one of those( and I work at a race horse barn)...why on earth would u use one? I beieve trotters wear them dont they?

  • Trotters, yes! Not race horses XD

  • thats what I thought lol I was like "What the hell is that?" haaha

  • At 3.21 that was(i think)part of the breastplate. The horse i ride has one on him all the time.

    Great vid

  • Nope, it is a trotting hopple :-)

  • wow you get some great footage!!love the clips!

  • i have a very short video on my page from the international horse show in Washington d.c. but you can see how high the fences are

  • how many feet is that i suck @ math srry

  • GREAT VID!!!! *applauds*

  • wow...thats a great video. love it.

  • Hi Alan, lovley video. I really enjoy the flow of it. One question, to make this video did you plan ahead and get the camera shots yourself, or did you use your zoom effect on (Sorry, I dont know the name of your editor)

    XD

  • Hi Grace - I kind of planned the video. I knew roughly what I wanted to do but didn't plan in detail. It was a spur of the moment thing. I didn't use the zoom effect on Sony V... v... v... (have I told you about my video editing program???)

    XDD

  • thats awesome - Was it some show that you were out watching at? I would love to be able to jump like that - Some fantastic horse in there :)

  • Hi nala135, these pictures were taken at Arendal Rideklubb which is situated on the south coast of Norway.

  • great vid at 3:20 i was observing it it looks like it has pads to protect the elbow in case the horse tucks w/ his legs more forword. just like the girth with the wide center protects the belly from being cut

  • No thats not what its for. It is a trotting hopple. :)

  • whats a "trotting hopple"?wat does it do?

  • A lot of race horses use trotting hopple. I am not 100% sure that is what it is, but I searched for it and a picture of what the horse came up as a trotting hopple. =P Someone told me it is used so the horse doesnt extend so much going towards a fence making it harder to find a good take off. =D

  • oh ok thnx!mmmm sound like i need one for my horse!haha he is extended on like all gates!lol

  • lol

  • In high jumping like this, they usally ride past the good distance to get deeper, because with longer spots it waste more time in the air, and in jumpers every second counts! Thats probably why they use a "trotting hopple"

  • And also going along with my riding past teh good distance/geting deep theory. If a horse takes a long spot it lands long, therefore making it harder to set-up for tight turns. Getting deep, a horse lands deep therefore allowing more room for the turn.

  • @stupidblond428a aye what that ???

  • Just to think, Rachel will be doing this in a few years!

  • WOW those jumps are hugee o_O

  • The guy at 1:07 has an amazing lower leg.

  • hey, GREAT vid! i thought it was very original! i like how you have it going a little slow, because you can really really sense the rythm and its so nice to be able to see and focus on the riding. impressive!

  • wat were those things on the horses legs at 3:20?

  • Heyyy there called hobbles and there to keep the horse in the smae stride they use them in the chariot trotting races when they really extened without breaking into canter.

  • great vid again lol

  • the martingale thingy (l0l) was made for horse that take extra long strides, it is used to keep the legs tight and used for showjumping, im not particulary sure wether that it was used on the horse in the vid but that is what most of them look like

  • they are called polo wraps protecting the legs of the horse so that when you jump the horse does not cut his legs from hitting the jump

  • it's a style of martingale for the tops of legs i think

  • WOW that's AWESOME!!!

  • i tihnk its either to stop ther under arms clippin the fences and hurting them selves or to hold the martingaleon properly xx

  • Good video! As usual at 3:21 what was that thing the horse had on. It was wrapped around his front legs.

  • Good question Grace! I really don't know. Can somebody out there give an answer?

  • Haha wow I comment on your videos so much you know my name! lol I really dont have a life. haha

  • its to keep the from extra long strides i use it on my hunter horse....

  • Dont you want very long strides in the hunter ring?

  • I found out what it was! It is called a a "Hopple" or the "Trotting Hopple" Still dont know whats its used for though! ttul

  • hi guys. the things on the front of the horses are polo wraps or just wraps. but actually i believe they are to keep the horse from ripping a tendon on their bottom leg or to keep them from hurting their front legs in any way. you can also find leg wraps for the back legs at any horse store. am i right?

  • no thats not what i was talking about. the horse acutal has open front boots on not polos ;P but i was talking about the thing that was attached to its martingale.

  • Wow not bad

  • pretty good well done altho the song wasnt amazing to match but hey
