  • We're doing this show right now. Our millie is a good singer, but can this millie come teach her how to act? like now? we're in in NJ too! lolz. (hey did you know that Anne Hathaway started at the papermill too :) )

  • @leojrevlis that being said, I like your sarcasm, I would know, this coming from the queen of sarcasm here, so.....

  • @leojrevlis ........

wow ..... um are you going to jump all over me for saying you need to CHILL OUT?! other people have their opinions and they might be bitchy, but u have no excuse to go posting shit like that about them. you're not perfect, ok? it WAS good though.

  • The choreography is fucking amazing, but I feel like the ensemble voices don't blend that well...But the dancing is extremely impressive. I just finished my shows this evening and this choreography is practically Broadway worthy.

  • Love this! :)

  • Love it! we rehearsing this number tonight(:

  • @180blackops You're so pleasant! Are you sure that your school is only 100% better? I guess that you meant to write "we're" not "were." It's the details!!!

This sucky Millie DID ended up on Broadway in Bye bye Birdie, so I guess that sucking pays off.

  • The girl playing Millie is amazing!

  • Wow. Way to copy Sutton completely.

  • @rosiewebber94 The actor only saw the Broadway show once, so I doubt that she memorized all of Sutton's moves and character. However, the choreographer followed much of the blocking from a video.

  • @leojrevlis i just find it sad that actors/directors have lost the ability to create original work. the actress is fine.

  • @rosiewebber94 Yeah, the actor IS fine. The goal in this particular HS's production is to present quality, not necessarily to be original. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. ;-}

    When B'way casts a "replacement" actor, that actor works with the director to do the part the same way, not totally reinvent it. Sure they add their special "something," but character remains intact. Yet, I'm sure it rubs actors the wrong way to just clone a part. {Sigh} just cash that fat paycheck. ;;-}}}

  • @rosiewebber94 please. she's much more enjoyable to watch than the sutton, who i find incredibly annoying.

  • oh and btw, what's wrong if they decided to use the same choreography from the broadway show?... what really matters is the fact that was well executed and it wasn't boring and unsynchronized just like a lot of other high school productions...

  • omg a lot of haters around here... I imagine those who give bad critics are from other schools with bad musical productions hahahaha... Although they're not perfect, for me this is the best performance of that musical shown on youtube (high school production obviously) and I'm not from USA!!!

  • that was really good but the choreographer should be ashamed and charged with theft as she/he has stole the exact choreography from the broadway show not good using someone elses work, I mean it is exact step for step rip off

  • ignore anything bad cuz my school is doing this and im sure ours is gunna be amazing but i love love loved ur dancing talent! keep on performing!!

  • Spectacular!

  • This is probably one of the best versions I've seen on youtube! I really want to do this musical because you guys inspire me so much

  • my high school production was original and sooo much better its crazy im sorry but the singing was just not good

  • @Xolittlered96oX Well, it absolutely makes sense to me - - an amateur high school production MUST be better than doing it "the Broadway way" with all those inferior professional directors, choreographers, sets, and lighting. Let's see a clip of your show, so that we can all be amazed.

  • The male dancers are excellent!! Damn boys, you go!

  • I have a question, did the girl who is Millie, did she have natural long hair, or did she cut it, obviously there was some kind of wig involved?

  • @LittleMissCailenFu Usally the actress playing millie will get a bob for the part. They just throw an ugly long wig on her so that she can transform.

  • I love this, and it's amazing for a high school production! Plus, the Millie is absolutely adorable, and I love the emotion she puts into her singing!!

  • I think this is VERY good, especially considering it's a high school production.

  • AWESOME!!!

  • tl:dr version: This would be impressive if it was original, but it's not and therefore I am thoroughly unimpressed.

The chorus needs so much work on their singing too, dear god.

  • @kevkevshields Please remain unimpressed. And yeah - God [with a capital "G"] took the day off, so the chorus sucked.

  • @leojrevlis Are you the director of this theatre program?

  • @kevkevshields No - absolutely not . . nor would I ever want to be! I "do" scenic stuff.. and lighting.. and props.. etc. I'm just the general technical advisor, but I stick my nose in everywhere.

  • @kevkevshields um might i say something? i am a director and we are doing this and we have been doing musicals for the past 48 years and what ive learned a musical and over all theatre is not about the singing its about the acting and the pasion put into the production thats all that matter (our theatre seats over 900 people we do 12 performances and we still have to turn people away on our final performance because of the full house and our singing isnt that great)

  • @mrdawging also a bit of advice next time work on the dancing not that good and blocking is not good

  • @mrdawging Am I supposed to care or...

  • Wow! This production is so good it's exactly like the Broadway production! It's almost as if near everything from the choreo to the costumes is completely copied! Who needs originality!

I can understand using some of Rob Ashford's choreo, like the stop-time section, but using all of his choreo is just tacky and lazy.

I would much rather see a production that is different and original rather than just a straight copy.

  • @kevkevshields EXACTLY RIGHT - Who needs originality!

  • all i can say is wow. this is so good honestly, here in the uk high schools don't go all out like that for a school production!

  • That was fantastic! The dancing was brilliant too!

  • how did they get her hair up so fast

  • @coope13080 Ya whip-off one wig and plop-on another! ;-}}

  • good show... nice legs!

  • What high school is this? That's quite impressive for a high school production...especially dance wise. It's really hard to find teenage boys who are able or even willing to dance.

  • Isn't this the same choreography they used on broadway?

  • @abbyangel9 Duh - - YES! ;-}} Well "sort-of."

  • LOVE the Broadway choreography! I graduated in 2008 and we were the first to perform Millie in the county so we sold out just about every night's shows and we also did all the Broadway choreography! brings back sooo many amazing memories. Its been 4 years and anyone who was in it still talks about how amazing being in the show was! Thanks for posting :)

  • I am in love with Millie's singing. <3

    And her legs are amazing!

  • Love the choreography!!

  • stand up straight!

  • LUV IT

    she's kinda stiff,

but here voice totally makes up for it

    cause she ROX your SOX!

  • millie a l'aire stupide

  • @06200nini Huh?

  • So amazing. You gave me chills!! Sutton Foster would be proud, I think. Curious, is this user the actress, or her parent(s)?

  • Millie is a little too stiff and smiley... Too fake basically! And she hunches sometimes... it kinda looks akward... good voice though i personally like my school's millie better :)

  • @pinkjenna96 You'd hunch too.. if you were 9 foot 7!

    ;-}}

  • @leojrevlis She's tall but, I can't believe she's that tall. That's like a world record. What's the lead's name?

  • what school?

  • @Ilnoscopedjfk Fairlawn in NJ

  • @mizbel101 I went there for regions try outs like in 7th grade and this year at Parsippany hill we did Millie. I was really surprised when I found out I gut the part for bun foo cause I was only a freshman

  • @Ilnoscopedjfk ohh thats awsome!!! congratss...ive honestly never seen the show...but i have watched the movie lol

  • @mizbel101 thanks and the shows a lot better cause the movie has graydon fall inlove with miss dorthy but in the play ching ho rescues miss dorthy so she fall in love with him like that

  • @Ilnoscopedjfk haha guess what? I was did a production of this this past june!!! (so now i know the show...and i agree the show IS better than the movie!)

  • Great performance, but Millie seems to be more taller than the other actors lol, other than that BRAVO!!

  • Julia... you make me smile... why are all my best friends so talented?! love it love you

    Robert

  • @pattiluponeismylife Why did you remove this comment? I think that it's cute. You wrote:

Nice, It was great, saw this number performed at the Metro Awards. But the sweetheart playing Millie must wear a more modest pair of undies if your gonna be flashing the audience throughout the ending of the song.....

  • thats the same choreography as broadway. thats fantastic i did see throughly modern millie on broadway in nyc when it was out. i saw it with sutton foster. this is amazing!

  • millie is a little to preppy

  • @coppers821

Ya think so? Ya mean maybe a little TOO polished and non-naive-hick? Yeah - I can see what ya mean. I think she sold the hell out of the role, though.

  • Wow this is simply amazing! Congrats to every one on that performance!

  • This gave me chills too, it's so good! Wow is all I can say. XD

  • ahhh i get chills every single timeee <3 i miss everything

  • thats the Broadway choreography

  • Ok sooo that was pretty friggon good!!!! BRAVO!

  • when the ensemble comes in, they didn't do the lyrics like that

  • Who didn't do the what lyrics like what? This is identical to Broadway's performance!

  • we're doing a jr. production, so all the stuff about drugs got taken away and the people who edited it probably took away some singing parts and/or lines

  • this is great! Well done!

  • i adore the girl playing millie - probably the best amateur millie on youtube - incredible dancer, good voice, and an amazing amount of unforced charm and star quality.

  • i tottaly agree.

  • you were amazing in this! im from summit, and i was SOOO impresssedd goood luck at rising star!

  • such a good production for a high school! WOW

  • Very VERY impressive for a high school! I love that you guys kept a lot of the original choreography and stayed in the style regardless. A++

  • ..... and i jizzed in my pants

    julia <3

  • W. O. W.

I wish I'd have gone to your high school -- aside from a VERY capable vocal ability, the choreography is exceptional!

    Well done!
