The reason it's spaced out quite a lot is because you need the space so you dont collide with other people/objects. When u start jumping 4ft forward, you need a lot of room incase something does go wrong!
I made it in sketchup 5 in about an hour. It's pretty hard to make detailed models in sketchup, as it uses a push-pull interface to create the models.
Ooh me likey. If I had a million dollars, I'd get some skips and have someone build that for me.

I built it in sketchup, and then recorded it in fraps. Not really special programs, both are incredibly easy to use
Sketchup is free to download (But i have the pro version which you have to pay for), and you can get a free demo of fraps from their site too.
