@thebattlemonster Sony apps/drivers aren't installed, crappy AV program blocking it, or you're not running as admin. Read the description and watch the video again.
@BluechipJ When i try run as admin it gives error saying the password is wrong because i have XP . so I have to do runas.... and then click admin then press enter but there is like a password slot but i dont know the password :(
i rooted my phone xperia acro SO-02s..when i put SIM card+SD card, the SD card not detected, but when i take SIM card and put SD card..my SD card is working,,please help me.thanks
@9cowbell9 Either it didn't root properly or it didn't install. Instead of posting, you could have just tried to go to the Market and manually installed it. If that didn't work, then obviously it isn't rooted and something went wrong.
Really like your videos mate, you explain everything very well. Do you have any idea if there is a way to root the arc s 2.3.4 build 4.0.2.A.0.62? I was actually going to root it but thought i would update to newest build first then found your vids....please reply if you know of a way as it would be very much appreciated....cheers
@unrealtron2 Sony Ericsson Backup & Restore (in my MediaFire folder included in the description), Titanium Backup, MyBackup or any other number of programs on the Market.
I followed your instructions but when i start 'runme'.....the process completes with so may Cannot copy...could not be found etc type stuffs and finally the phone reboots and i dont see superuser anywhere. Any idea why its like this? :(

hi, im kinda confused. so if i want to root my 2.3.4 xperia arc. do i follow the video, throughout from the start of the video? if no, then where do the guide for 2.3.4 starts from?
@BluechipJ thx for the tutor man. it works on my v2.3.3. why i'm still using this version because i just found out more about android inside-out in the past few weeks. now i'm trying to update to v2.3.4 and it means i have to re-root my xperia again, right?
@cowclot ... because it could still connect to your phone. I don't get what the issue is. ADB is just like any other program. You could use Microsoft Word 2000 if you wanted. It's out of date compared to Word 2010. It still works.
@shmirwin Thanks for the info. If all the drivers are installed and it doesn't detect the phone, the first action that most people do/are told is to use another USB port. I'll make a note to not use USB 3.0.
@jalalpurjattan CWM requires an unlocked bootloader. So either unlock it with s1tools (carrier unbranded/generic, free) or buy an Omnius license ($20-$25) or contact Jinx (£15) (Google jinx unlock xperia).
I've tried but it didn't work that good . I know that because when the camera focuses on something it looks crystal clear but when i capture the image, after the process it looses that quality . A little zoom on captured image and it gets blurred. This isn't faulty camera, i've checked other three arcs same thing happends in them, i searched it on google and i found i m not alone
@skyray3335 Well, first off, the screen image is only 854x480 so it's not the true image so of course it'll be blurry upon zooming. Second, gallery is Mobile BRAVIA enhanced.
Compared to other smartphone cameras, I've never had issues with the arc's but then it's not supposed to replace a real camera.
@skyray3335 The image quality of what, the camera? Rooting unlocks the system to allow you to install applications that can modify the system -- it doesn't (and can't) alter any hardware. The arc's camera was one of the best when it came out.
Hi If Anyone Can Reply ASAP? Why Can't I Use ZergRush I Followed All The Steps Then When I Press Any Key To Start Then, I Get Stuck At STARTING, WAITING FOR DEVICE
@MrHaiqal121 If it's waiting for your Xperia, it means it can't detect it, which means you didn't follow the instructions and the Sony Ericsson applications are NOT installed. Hence the drivers for USB debugging are not installed.
@MrHaiqal121 ... if it's waiting for the device, it means it can't detect it. You probably didn't run it as Administrator if you've already install the Sony apps. Google SuperOneClick and use that. Try another computer or another USB port.
@bluechip. the dos version didnt work, so i tried super one click, and it work, but all it said was end so should i restart the phone on my own. or i dont need to if super user is already there,
@4985276 There used to be applications you could just download run directly on your phone to root (e.g. GingerBreak). However, they no longer work on the latest firmwares.
SuperOneClick and zergRush are the only methods (besides unlocked bootloaders) and they both require USB Debugging through a PC.
And rooting is the only way to remove system/carrier applications.
@bluechip. is there a way to remove unwanted system apps on the arc 2.3.4 without rooting with the usb) i saw an earlier video that you did about rooting with using the usb can that work for me,, please help, just want to remove uwanted system apps. Thank in advance
@q8skoolz I don't understand. Why would you root? Flashing wipes EVERYTHING so you're starting from scratch. If Wotan is timing out, either the firmware is incorrect or there's an issue w/ your phone/USB.
@q8skoolz Find the one with the highest number. Visit the Wotan Server website and visit the section for your specific phone. If one firmware doesn't work, try another one.
thank you mate good share.. btw i thought it will erase everything once i root running on 2.3.4 i straight uses the bat file and got the super powers without clearing up my data.. cool =) is it okay like this ?
@hyde6055 Rooting doesn't wipe data or apps. It modifies the system and installs SuperUser. There are no issues and you can always un-root (check the description).
I downgraded from 2.3.4 and got 0% battery. There is a temp fix for those of you who have this. Google Docomo arc firmware. Once installed it will say your battery is at 1% all the time. But your phone will not turn off when unplugged. Mine lasts all day if i charge it when i sleep. It always says 1% all the time but eh at least i can use my phone normally without problems. Hope this helps. So again find the Docomo custom firmware and flash with that. at least you'll have a phone till its fixed.
Nice vid. But I have a question. I have the latest 2.3.4 firmware. Is there a way to root a phone without flashing? I guess flashing it means wiping all phone's data so I'll lose all my counters, options of apps, etc? I can't back them up because I haven't root and can't start TitaniumBackup, for example.
May you do a video of how to unlock the bootloader for the X10 with the stock 2.3.3? I've the steps of how to do it, but I don't really understand it.
@amaurilol2 I haven't unlocked mine yet but if you "don't really understand it", you shouldn't be messing around with something this advanced. There are just too many variables and ways to screw it up.
I've started reading through the thread (#1254087) and am only to page 7 but already, there are dozens and dozens of people with issues. If I can determine a sure-fire/safer route to do this, I'll consider making a video.
@xSAWxG4RBAG3 Why would you root it again if it's already rooted?
The reason for downgrade was that previously, only v2.3.2 could be rooted with Gingerbreak. Users would then upgrade their rooted phones over-the-air to v2.3.3 and the v2.3.4.
zergRush eliminates the need for any downgrade because ANY v2.3.# version can be rooted.
Also, be aware that on certain phones, once you upgrade to v2.3.4, a downgrade could cause the "0%" battery issue, as stated in the video and description.

@hyde6055 Rooting doesn't wipe data or apps. It modifies the system and installs SuperUser. There are no issues and you can always un-root (check the description).

@hyde6055 You need to root. Go to the Market and search for "Font Changer"

Dude... i have question to ask :
1. Question :- Can u make a video how to backup all file before doing root?
2. Question :- Root 1st, or Bootloader 1st?
ijalij0l 3 months ago
@ijalij0l What files? The entire phone is accessible with any file manager like Astro.
There's also an un-root so why bother?
Lastly, if you don't know how to backup your phone, you shouldn't be modifying it.
2. Bootloader first. It resets your phone in the process.

great video... but i dont understand by what you mean "make sure the adb drivers are installed"
prashan588 3 months ago
@prashan588 You must be able to connect your phone in USB Development mode.
Therefore, the drivers must be installed. i.e. PC Companion and/or Update Service.

Nice vid. But I have a question. I have the latest 2.3.4 firmware. Is there a way to root a phone without flashing? I guess flashing it means wiping all phone's data so I'll lose all my counters, options of apps, etc? I can't back them up because I haven't root and can't start TitaniumBackup, for example.
spnchik 3 months ago
@spnchik ... zergRush works on ANY firmware, as shown in the video.
The only reason I flashed v2.3.4 was because it was at v2.3.2 and to show that it works on both versions.
BluechipJ 3 months ago
when will 2.3.4 be available for x10a
jlv6215 3 months ago
@jlv6215 Sony Ericsson Said that they don´t have plans for another update in the x10a
Hegq17 3 months ago
@jlv6215 Don't know. Read the Sony Ericsson Product Blog.
Custom ROMs for the X10 are already using v2.3.4.
BluechipJ 3 months ago
Super Job But i will cry out loud After downgrade 2.3.4 to 2.3.2 and root with gingerbreak for rooted , battery is 0%
vodkaw980 3 months ago
May you do a video of how to unlock the bootloader for the X10 with the stock 2.3.3? I've the steps of how to do it, but I don't really understand it.
amaurilol2 4 months ago
@amaurilol2 I haven't unlocked mine yet but if you "don't really understand it", you shouldn't be messing around with something this advanced. There are just too many variables and ways to screw it up.
I've started reading through the thread (#1254087) and am only to page 7 but already, there are dozens and dozens of people with issues. If I can determine a sure-fire/safer route to do this, I'll consider making a video.
BluechipJ 4 months ago
Also, if i have a rooted xperia x10 firmware 2.3.3, do i have to root using zerg rush or downgrade to 2.3.2 and then route to 2.3.4?
xSAWxG4RBAG3 4 months ago
@xSAWxG4RBAG3 Why would you root it again if it's already rooted?
The reason for downgrade was that previously, only v2.3.2 could be rooted with Gingerbreak. Users would then upgrade their rooted phones over-the-air to v2.3.3 and the v2.3.4.
zergRush eliminates the need for any downgrade because ANY v2.3.# version can be rooted.
Also, be aware that on certain phones, once you upgrade to v2.3.4, a downgrade could cause the "0%" battery issue, as stated in the video and description.
BluechipJ 4 months ago
Thank you so much for all the videos that you have made. If it wasn't for you, I still would have firmware 1.6 for my X10.
