  • "It does NOT make the Market free (seriously, you think Google would have a security hole/bug like this???)."

Search for applanet. Appstore for android with ca all apps, all for free.

  • @RoteXoR It's an alternative market - which still doesn't make the official Android Market free. And given the amount of malware out there, I wouldn't be installing apps not vetted.

  • @BluechipJ Was just referring to the "you think Google would have a security hole/bug like this???"

  • Thanks it works on my xperia play

  • system cannot find....

  • @cj3win Find what?

  • @marijachi011 What part of "ANY" do you not understand?

  • @BluechipJ where is hong kong firmware

  • what minut is rooting 2.3.4

  • @marijachi011 If you're too lazy to watch a video, you shouldn't be rooting your phone to begin with.

  • i press any button and it says waiting for device :////

  • @thebattlemonster Sony apps/drivers aren't installed, crappy AV program blocking it, or you're not running as admin. Read the description and watch the video again.

  • @BluechipJ When i try run as admin it gives error saying the password is wrong because i have XP . so I have to do runas.... and then click admin then press enter but there is like a password slot but i dont know the password :(

  • Hİ, you might have said it in the video but do you have to recover apps when rooting or is it fine

  • @thebattlemonster ... what?

Rooting doesn't wipe your device if that's what you mean...

  • Awsome video ill try this on my xperia play this after noon great man, keep up

  • @BluechipJ i've done all the things u suggest but still couldn't detect sim card.hope u have solution for this.

  • @mydroidification Did it work before?

No software/firmware can affect the SIM card.

  • Does it work on v2.3.4 cause urs is 2.3.2

  • @duck1783174 WATCH THE ENTIRE VIDEO!

    READ... THE... DESCRIPTION!

  • ur awesomeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

  • why do i not have superuser after rooting?

  • @9cowbell9 Either it didn't root properly or it didn't install. Instead of posting, you could have just tried to go to the Market and manually installed it. If that didn't work, then obviously it isn't rooted and something went wrong.

  • Thank you!I LIKED IT!!

  • tks dude it works!!

  • thanks dear. it was very helpful. i really like ur upload.

  • dude help me do this it works on xperia play r800i i have 2.3.4 already so is it simple to root like video

or is there easyer way to root it :p

  • @dakronicz As stated in the title, description and on the original developer thread, it works for all 2011 Xperias except the the latest .62 build.

  • @BluechipJ so how can i root my .62 neo

  • how to root 4.0.2.a.0.62?

  • Really like your videos mate, you explain everything very well. Do you have any idea if there is a way to root the arc s 2.3.4 build 4.0.2.A.0.62? I was actually going to root it but thought i would update to newest build first then found your vids....please reply if you know of a way as it would be very much appreciated....cheers

  • aww.. i thought i was the first one to upload a video about this... anyway check mine to. it has a song :) Nice video btw

  • How do i flash a lower build???

  • @Generalisator

sorry, now i see i have .42 so there sould not be any problem?

  • How should I backup my phone?

  • @unrealtron2 Sony Ericsson Backup & Restore (in my MediaFire folder included in the description), Titanium Backup, MyBackup or any other number of programs on the Market.

  • Comment removed

  • Hi BluechipJ,

Many thanks for the instructions. I used your video along with instructions from Captainkrtrek from the xda developers site and managed to successfully root my Xperia Arc 1st time.

I got a little confused during installation of the Adfree app (I wasn't 100% sure what I was doing), but I stumbled through and seemed to hit the right buttons.

  • VIXIII PERFEITO FUNCIONOU MUITO BEM, PARABENS!

  • It worked! I have superuser on my phone.

Thank you very much for all the work you did when making this tutorial, very much appreciated.

I did not need SDK and adb whatever that is.

I made sure PC companion was installed updated and running.

I made sure Update engine was installed and running.

I connected the phone using the media transfer mode.

Hopefully this additional info will help someone.

  • @captainkid1 ... that's what it says in the description. There's no mention anywhere of the need for ADB or the Software Development Kit (SDK).

Update Service and PC Companion are all that's necessary.

  • Comment removed

  • So ehh. What about adb drivers and SDK stuff?

Do I need that, you don't show how you connect your phone to the PC.

  • So international Arc S can use a different (easier?) method like you showed in the beginning?

Do you have a more elaborate tutorial for that?

  • @captainkid1 What??? READ the TITLE! "ANY Xperia"

Any Xperia running v2.3 can be rooted by zergRush (except the .62 build).

  • hi, im kinda confused. so if i want to root my 2.3.4 xperia arc. do i follow the video, throughout from the start of the video? if no, then where do the guide for 2.3.4 starts from?

    thanks!

  • @qordon ... download zergRush, run it.

The video is just to demonstrate that it works on different builds of v2.3.4.

  • If I just do the ZergRush thing will it defiantly wipe all my stuff?Or just the stuff on the internal memory or the sd card?

I have backed up and watched video...

  • @thesadscraps Then you didn't pay attention. I rooted two different firmwares. Both times, no applications were affected.

  • So use the wotan if you have 2.3.4?

  • @thesadscraps Wotan is to flash your phone. zergRush is to root your phone. They are independent and unrelated.

  • Hi,

    I already have 2.3.4 (kernel 2.6.32.9, Build 4.0.2.A.0.42

Question: if I root , will i loose my installed apps ??

  • @wetytbub ... watch the video and pay attention.

  • if im rooting my ARC S, will my internal memory become format? or lost any apps in my internal memory? pls reply ASAP

  • @xxBADRILxx Did you even watch the video? Did the phone format when it was rooted? Watch it again.

  • hi i'm using xperia arc with 2.3.3

can i use this method to root my arc.

is this the same method as using flash tool?

  • @MrZragah What part of ANY do you not understand?

Also, why are you still running v2.3.3? The official update for v2.3.4 has been out for months.

  • @BluechipJ thx for the tutor man. it works on my v2.3.3. why i'm still using this version because i just found out more about android inside-out in the past few weeks. now i'm trying to update to v2.3.4 and it means i have to re-root my xperia again, right?

  • i have 2.3.3 version so wich Wotan Client i need to use ??? please help me

  • @cowclot ... because it could still connect to your phone. I don't get what the issue is. ADB is just like any other program. You could use Microsoft Word 2000 if you wanted. It's out of date compared to Word 2010. It still works.

  • thanks a lot dude.! i was on 2.3.4 and lost all hope! People you don't need to downgrade if you are already on 2.3.4 .Worked for me ! Cheers

  • how do i install the adb driver???

  • Finally rooted my xperia arc.. Thanks a lot for the tutorial. :D

  • just to let you know I had a problem doing this, and it couldn't find my device.. turned out it was the USB 3.0

  • @shmirwin Thanks for the info. If all the drivers are installed and it doesn't detect the phone, the first action that most people do/are told is to use another USB port. I'll make a note to not use USB 3.0.

  • How do i put clockwork mod to install custom roms????????

  • @jalalpurjattan CWM requires an unlocked bootloader. So either unlock it with s1tools (carrier unbranded/generic, free) or buy an Omnius license ($20-$25) or contact Jinx (£15) (Google jinx unlock xperia).

  • I've tried but it didn't work that good . I know that because when the camera focuses on something it looks crystal clear but when i capture the image, after the process it looses that quality . A little zoom on captured image and it gets blurred. This isn't faulty camera, i've checked other three arcs same thing happends in them, i searched it on google and i found i m not alone

  • @skyray3335 Well, first off, the screen image is only 854x480 so it's not the true image so of course it'll be blurry upon zooming. Second, gallery is Mobile BRAVIA enhanced.

Compared to other smartphone cameras, I've never had issues with the arc's but then it's not supposed to replace a real camera.

  • yes the camera's image, quality there is too much image compression . can i reduce that ?

  • @skyray3335 Use another camera app. market-android-com slash apps slash PHOTOGRAPHY

You don't need root to install an app.

  • after rooting my arc can i increase the image quality? because you might have noticed how bad image quality is , it sucks.

  • @skyray3335 The image quality of what, the camera? Rooting unlocks the system to allow you to install applications that can modify the system -- it doesn't (and can't) alter any hardware. The arc's camera was one of the best when it came out.

  • Thanks bro, i already rooted it. . .

  • Hi If Anyone Can Reply ASAP? Why Can't I Use ZergRush I Followed All The Steps Then When I Press Any Key To Start Then, I Get Stuck At STARTING, WAITING FOR DEVICE

  • @MrHaiqal121 If it's waiting for your Xperia, it means it can't detect it, which means you didn't follow the instructions and the Sony Ericsson applications are NOT installed. Hence the drivers for USB debugging are not installed.

  • @BluechipJ I did all those things but i just get stuck and the STARTING,WAITING FOR DEVICE Please You Have To Help Me....

  • @MrHaiqal121 ... if it's waiting for the device, it means it can't detect it. You probably didn't run it as Administrator if you've already install the Sony apps. Google SuperOneClick and use that. Try another computer or another USB port.

  • @BluechipJ And by the way what drivers should i install?

  • Thanks for the answer bluechipJ. . .now i can start rooting may phone. . .

  • @bluechip- now that i am rooted how do i delete the system app

  • @4985276 There are dozens of free apps on the Market that will uninstall any application. Titanium Backup is a user favourite.

  • Bro it means the pc companion is the adb driver of S.E.?? Thank bro. . .

  • @blackshuter Yes. There's also standalone drivers, but it's recommended you use Sony's applications.

  • @bluechip -and know that i have superuser how do i remove the unwanted system apps

  • @bluechip. the dos version didnt work, so i tried super one click, and it work, but all it said was end so should i restart the phone on my own. or i dont need to if super user is already there,

and thank you so much before

  • my xperia arc already updated to 2.3.4 before root...can i still use this root method to my phone?

  • @KL3Crew ... #FAIL Did you even watch the video?

I flashed to v2.3.4, brand new install and rooted.

And even if you didn't, what part of "ANY" do you not understand?

  • error rooting without using the usb

  • @4985276 There used to be applications you could just download run directly on your phone to root (e.g. GingerBreak). However, they no longer work on the latest firmwares.

SuperOneClick and zergRush are the only methods (besides unlocked bootloaders) and they both require USB Debugging through a PC.

And rooting is the only way to remove system/carrier applications.

  • @bluechip. is there a way to remove unwanted system apps on the arc 2.3.4 without rooting with the usb) i saw an earlier video that you did about rooting with using the usb can that work for me,, please help, just want to remove uwanted system apps. Thank in advance

  • (1) make sure u have installed adb drivers for ur device?

-if this is the adb.exe on file folder?

-after i open the adb.exe then i can start ur tutorial on command prompt?

Thanks for the vid and answer

  • @blackshuter ... as stated in the video... install both PC Companion and Update Service. Links in the description.

  • my phone is GSM not CDMA or CDA how can i update it for GSM phones?

  • @q8skoolz ... what? Which phone? All the Xperias are GSM... I'm confused.

  • i reach the very end. it says. cant open. operation timed out. what do I do? i live in the middle east

  • @q8skoolz What times out? What firmware?

Download the latest SuperOneClick if the DOS version doesn't work. Read the description.

  • @BluechipJ i already rooted it. i just wanna update it. when the wootanclient runs the download at the end. it times out :s help?

  • @q8skoolz I don't understand. Why would you root? Flashing wipes EVERYTHING so you're starting from scratch. If Wotan is timing out, either the firmware is incorrect or there's an issue w/ your phone/USB.

  • @BluechipJ how do we know which firmware is correct? i put in the cda section middle east and africa. because i live in the middle east.

    thanks for all these answers

  • @q8skoolz Find the one with the highest number. Visit the Wotan Server website and visit the section for your specific phone. If one firmware doesn't work, try another one.

  • will this work with my unlocked bootloader xperia play?

  • @q8skoolz What part of "any" do you not understand?

As stated in the description, it doesn't affect your bootloader, therefore, it doesn't matter what state it's in...

  • where do I get adb drivers for my arc I have no idea where to get them

  • @Classicpunch94 ... READ the DESCRIPTION: "You MUST have..."

  • Is there any custom roms for samsung exhibit yet i have rooted it is firmware 2.33 gingerbread please help

  • @MrTubeyouwatch No clue. Go on XDA Developers or find a Samsung forum.

  • I can't save my APNs! Please help me!

  • @GetPatriotized With APN Backup?

Then get out a piece of paper... and a pencil... and write it down.

  • thank you mate good share.. btw i thought it will erase everything once i root running on 2.3.4 i straight uses the bat file and got the super powers without clearing up my data.. cool =) is it okay like this ?

  • @hyde6055 Rooting doesn't wipe data or apps. It modifies the system and installs SuperUser. There are no issues and you can always un-root (check the description).

  • @BluechipJ btw may i know how to change the default fonts and make my arc s more attractive =)

sorry to bug u... this is my first android... i quit iOS ! =)

  • @hyde6055 You need to root. Go to the Market and search for "Font Changer"

  • I downgraded from 2.3.4 and got 0% battery. There is a temp fix for those of you who have this. Google Docomo arc firmware. Once installed it will say your battery is at 1% all the time. But your phone will not turn off when unplugged. Mine lasts all day if i charge it when i sleep. It always says 1% all the time but eh at least i can use my phone normally without problems. Hope this helps. So again find the Docomo custom firmware and flash with that. at least you'll have a phone till its fixed.

  • lol, i did not see this vid, cheers mate!

  • Dude... i have question to ask :

    1. Question :- Can u make a video how to backup all file before doing root?

    2. Question :- Root 1st, or Bootloader 1st?

  • @ijalij0l What files? The entire phone is accessible with any file manager like Astro.

There's also an un-root so why bother?

Lastly, if you don't know how to backup your phone, you shouldn't be modifying it.

    2. Bootloader first. It resets your phone in the process.

  • @BluechipJ

    Thanx for the info,

What i mean is, all the 'file' that in the phone & card.

Coz i need backup to my PC incase i screwup.

In this tutorial, i've try this method but nothing happen.

Can u give me a solution?

And thanx buddies coz reply my text.

  • how to unroot? can you pls do a tutorial for that? thanks.

  • @TheCleanSongsChannel ... why would you unroot?

Link added to the description. Download and run.

  • great video... but i dont understand by what you mean "make sure the adb drivers are installed"

  • @prashan588 You must be able to connect your phone in USB Development mode.

Therefore, the drivers must be installed. i.e. PC Companion and/or Update Service.

  • Nice vid. But I have a question. I have the latest 2.3.4 firmware. Is there a way to root a phone without flashing? I guess flashing it means wiping all phone's data so I'll lose all my counters, options of apps, etc? I can't back them up because I haven't root and can't start TitaniumBackup, for example.

  • @spnchik ... zergRush works on ANY firmware, as shown in the video.

The only reason I flashed v2.3.4 was because it was at v2.3.2 and to show that it works on both versions.

  • when will 2.3.4 be available for x10a

  • @jlv6215 Sony Ericsson Said that they don´t have plans for another update in the x10a

  • @jlv6215 Don't know. Read the Sony Ericsson Product Blog.

Custom ROMs for the X10 are already using v2.3.4.

  • Super Job But i will cry out loud After downgrade 2.3.4 to 2.3.2 and root with gingerbreak for rooted , battery is 0%

  • May you do a video of how to unlock the bootloader for the X10 with the stock 2.3.3? I've the steps of how to do it, but I don't really understand it.

  • @amaurilol2 I haven't unlocked mine yet but if you "don't really understand it", you shouldn't be messing around with something this advanced. There are just too many variables and ways to screw it up.

I've started reading through the thread (#1254087) and am only to page 7 but already, there are dozens and dozens of people with issues. If I can determine a sure-fire/safer route to do this, I'll consider making a video.

  • Also, if i have a rooted xperia x10 firmware 2.3.3, do i have to root using zerg rush or downgrade to 2.3.2 and then route to 2.3.4?

  • @xSAWxG4RBAG3 Why would you root it again if it's already rooted?

The reason for downgrade was that previously, only v2.3.2 could be rooted with Gingerbreak. Users would then upgrade their rooted phones over-the-air to v2.3.3 and the v2.3.4.

zergRush eliminates the need for any downgrade because ANY v2.3.# version can be rooted.

Also, be aware that on certain phones, once you upgrade to v2.3.4, a downgrade could cause the "0%" battery issue, as stated in the video and description.

  • Thank you so much for all the videos that you have made. If it wasn't for you, I still would have firmware 1.6 for my X10.
