  • lmao @ these 13 year olds commenting on what music is. EVERY genre is "emotional" or it would mean nothing

  • I love the Juicy hook in this song...

  • No soul? But no one is this band is ginger.

  • emo is gay shit like three days grace or atreyu where theres "corporate emotion" to sell. I'm not a fan of this band, I was just interested in hearing the BIG sample, but these guys are true musicians who have musical integrity which is very lacking on the radio nowadays, nuff said.

  • What a Juicy track

  • @Golzernurf I'm pretty sure I love you for being the only one out of every single comment for realizing the biggie smalls sample :)

  • Genres are just ways people can express their taste in music..Every genre means something different to people due to the fact that there is no set of "rules" to define them. To me, this is indie punk, but to someone else it could be emo pop. All I know, and all the matters is Say Anything fucking rules. =]

  • 2:48 ♥

  • Say Anything is in the genre of Punk/Pop Punk

  • @honestabe12345 indie/punk

  • This song belongs to you and all your crew

  • The two people who disliked this video have no souls

  • Comment removed

  • @lilangelreannin Anna Waronker :)

  • @lilangelreannin Anna Waronker according to wikipedia

  • @lilangelreannin im pretty sure its his wife

  • Say Anything isnt emo, just like no other bands are "emo". Yes many are emotional, but emo isnt anything. Its just a stereotype formed over the years.

But, if bands werent emotional, they would be one of those sell out bands that dont put any emotion into their songs.

Say anything is their own genre. How bout that?

  • go to my channel to see say anything performing no soul live. pluss many other songs, and many other bands.

  • you know very well what you are

don’t let em write you off

    you wear your scars

    i’ve had a few

    but not that many

    but you’re the only one

who gives me good and plenty

  • "Whatever 'genre' (or music) one loves needs a defense, because half the world is too ignorant to really understand something before they dismiss it."

  • Actually, on Wikipedia, it says

"..Say Anything is an American alternative-indie band.." first paragraph.

    :3<3

I love them no matter what. so stfu.

  • *coughs* Emo isn't a musical genre.

I am of the belief that, with at least 90% of music, if there is no emotion to it then it's not worth anyone's time. Music is expression, and I dislike music that sounds emotionless. It robs the performer of prescence. It creates fakes, posers and more.

    *shakes head*

  • @FFQueen92 I agree.

  • totally agreee

  • Who cares about the genre, they're AMAZING!

  • biggie

  • is it just me or does the part where his wife sings, exactly sound like the chorus from Notorious Big's song "juicy"?

  • @Delonge1482 thats the point lol

  • @Delonge1482 it's because it is!

  • @Delonge1482 n oits not jsut you lol

  • @Lasuil I mean... somebody wanted to know the singer. I'm sorry if I sounded rude.

  • @Lasuil Nah dude it's Anna Waronker from That Dog.

Hayley Williams is in The Church Channel and Plea

  • This album took awhile to grow on me, there were only a few songs I really enjoyed and a few others I liked, but now I absolutely effing love it! Great song. <3

  • pop another bar untill the rooster crows. very good max/

  • who features?

  • Anna Waronker

  • What band is she in? :s

  • I think she just does solo stuff im not sure.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG and In Defense Of The Genre because gerard sings in it hahahaha the are awesome

  • she sings the part that he borrowed from the notorious BIG's juicy....... you know very well who you are= what the girl sings in thattt song

  • yeah, its pretty nasty how he fits it into this.

  • Total didn't sing it originally. Total's chorus on Big's song is an interpolation of the song's sample - Mtume's "Juicy fruit"

  • Biggie's Juicy samples MTUME.

Total's chorus on Biggie's song is an interpolation of verse 1 of Juicy Fruit.

James Mtume (Pronounced M-2-may), who wrote Juicy Fruit is a credite as a co-writer for Big's Juicy, Keyshia Cole's "Let it go" and "No Soul"

  • This is one of my favorite say anything songs, fucking amazing!!!

  • so i hear gerard sings in this song :)

im just having a hard time hearing his voice in it, but i think i know where

  • this song is amazing.

does anyone know what its about exactly? hah.

  • I watched his interview, the songs about a lot of things reply back if i should tell ya dont wanna waste my time since this was 3 weeks ago

  • TELL ME!! haha.

  • whos the girl singing?

  • @unknownsmilee it's not hayley williams. it's anna waronker.

  • Aren't they like the anti emo?

Like "Admit It!!!" strictly pwns emo douches lol

  • no. not at all. the whole new album was in defense of the "emo" genre of music. the whole point being ANY good music has emotion. ADMIT IT was about the people who are non-conformists and think theyre better then everyone else for it. ^_^

  • @supersexyninjajunjun so true. People hear emo and think immediately of Hawthorne Heights/Black Veil Bride, etc. Emo as a music genre is Sunny Day Real Estate, They Will Know Us By The Trail of the Dead, Mineral, etc. Emotional lyrics (not always depression, but not ignoring it either.) that are put to almost alternative guitar riffs. Learn it.

  • @supersexyninjajunjun Admit it made fun of emo's lol . . .

  • @theillestkids Admit it! was him saying "people suck" and then later in the song "wait....I'm exactly the same. I suck too. Oh well I got my car and my guitar and I'm doing what I love."

  • @supersexyninjajunjun lol whatever, interpret it how you want . . . i take it as he was making fun of exactly what you said in your first comment, non-conformists that think they're better than everyone else, which during the early 2000's, when this song came out, "emo" was the "non-comformist douche fad" that was popular, and the whole i got my car and my guitar is him saying im happy with what i got and don't care what's cool, i just wana keep doing what im doing

  • @supersexyninjajunjun ps. the emo your speaking of is not a genre of music, it is a style . . . the only genre of music that is called "emo" is from the late seventies and it was verry similar to music like the fast paced punk music today but with complete and utter different meaning and feel to which never really took on. Then the 00's came around and "emo" style got big. People only refer to music today as emo because of the type of people that listen to it, not the sound of the music itself.

  • @supersexyninjajunjun and admit it was not on defense of the genre

  • i love this band so much!

the lyrics are witty and extreme

    amazing

    (:

  • this is an awsome song and put on with awsome quality. congrats for over 10,000 veiws.

  • for people who are arguing over "emo"... EMO IS NOTHING. IT DOESNT EXIST. if it did, EVERY SERIOUS genre of music would be emo or "emotionally" because really, what would music be without emotion?

  • Emo does exist. It's a genre of music. It has to do with lyrics and instrumental content.

The lyrics contain emotional words or words speaking of emotion(ie. love, anger, etc).

The intruments are very dramatic and moving, being quite melodic.

Though "emo" as a genre has died away and has simply become a trend, emo is still something to look for. One example is a Metalcore band called Killswitch Engage. Though he is screaming, it's still emo. Try the song "Arms of Sorrow" No screaming.

  • It is in fact "emo"

Max says it himself on the 'In defense' webisodes where he explains the record

its an entire album about love and how you shouldn't be ashamed for liking "emo" music and dont care what people think about you for liking it

    thats what it is, people

  • Say anything is definitely emo.

    Get Over It.

They rock. This entire album is about what I just said in the line above. Yes it's emo, Yes it's kick ass, Deal with it. Liking an emo band is not the most embarrassing thing that will ever happen to you in your life. Emo doesn't mean fast-paced high pitched whining to a pop tune. Emo means Emotional and it's refreshed to pop-punkrock songs that are about deeper topics then sex and skateboarding.

I cover this band a little bit, check it out.

  • Ah i can't wait to see them at warped tour. They are opening!

  • BESTEST SONG EBER <3 <3

  • MY 2ND FAVORITE SAY ANYTHING SONG!

  • notorious big juicy!!!!! max is a beast!

  • i bought this cd w/o listening to it like 2 weeks before christmas

and i love it of course there the shit

  • i did too...this was one of the few songs i didn't mind..then this album grew on me and now i'm in love with it!

i cant stop listening to it

  • max goes insane when he sings this in concert. especially when he says, "is your schedule sufficient enough you TOAD!?" lol

  • i wish i could see! cant go to the UK tour this year, its duing the finals - i hope they come back again soon!

  • most amazing song ever madeeeeeeeee

  • my fav song by say anything =]

  • this song

    is the best song

  • Song is fantastic :)

  • i fucking luv this song!!!

  • yea it's from a song called "juicy fruit" by Mtume

  • This song uses the same sample as Juicy by The Notorious BIG. "You know very well what you are." does ne one know what the orginal sound is if it isnt juicy?

  • haha, i thought i recognized that lol

  • yeah dude. 8 mile was on on vh1 while i was channel surfing and it was playing in the backround... i was like "wtf dude"

  • yes the cd does say it uses the sound from juicy in this song...

  • oh ok cool. i dont own the CD(shame shame) so i cant see that info. thx for the confirmation

  • there's something about it that puts it on the borderline of EMO & POP

  • emo rocks.

  • 1. emo sucks

    2. calling say anythign emo?!?!?! hahahahah

    3. they are punk and pop if that is possible

  • say anything are great, thats all that matters.

  • ....it's called indie

there are certainly not close to punk nor pop

and yeah...they arent emo...whoever said that is an idiot

  • @ThiagoMS08 Emo isnt a genre of music or a lifestyle. It's a stereotype. It means nothing. It's funny how people use it.

  • @ScaredKid321 right on man

  • @ThiagoMS08 Indie if anything.

  • @ThiagoMS08

They're just Say Anything; just made of pure awesome.

But Thiago is as right as anyone has been here in the comment section. Lol.

  • @ThiagoMS08 Say Anything was a very emo band prior to "...Is a Real Boy" and they definitely have some emo stuff in a few songs on In Defense. There's nothing wrong with an emotional, sad song about a girl.

  • not emo, rock lol.

    and pop.

    ive go the cd.

    it says.

  • Definitely not emo.

Nor does it suck. This is more alternative rock, with pop influence.

Not saying that emo sucks, Dashboard Confessional is an excellent emo-acoustic band.

  • @tresmexicanos first off they are indie/punk .just so ya know

  • i like this!

    alot

  • another genius Say Anything Song!

  • Wow, finding out there is a new Say Anything has made my week... cannot wait to go out during my lnch break and buy this!!!
