I'd absolutely LOVE IT if Sly takes one of these in the chops. Especially in slo mo. It was always Van Dammes trade mark move and it really is fucking sick.
@JakaxBone3672 for a martial artist it's really not such a hard technique (jumping spin kick) but he does it by spreading his legs wide (which requires split-flexibility) as opposed to tucking the rear leg which is the quicker more ring-practical version.
anyone who knows karate can play wheel kick with jump but the van damme's speciallity is his other kick also extends back in the air on the other side that's something we cant do easily and also his finishing.
im going to do this kick, like JCVD no fucking matter if i broke my bones, this music makes me want to try it everyfucking day at any minut, even with this broken arm im going to try it NOW !!!!
@leopoldvs, Jean-Claude Van Damme is definitely one of top 10 favorite martial arts inspirators underneath Bruce Lee the "King Of Martial Arts". My favorite Van Damme films are "Street Fighter" and "The Quest". Others I like are Kickboxer, Death Warrant, LionHeart, Cyborg, Bloodsport, and Double Impact.
@MrKevinlclayjr My favorite is LionHeart for some many reasons I feel identified with...it's about family, about starting from zero, about the love of a brother, about friendship, about an immigrant and about hope. Big hug for you :)
@leopoldvs, Thanks man Jean-Claude Van Damme's 1996 "The Quest" film was about the same thing. Street Fighter was about a military commander dedicating his life to bring an International Warlord down. He was responsible for the global military militia's occuring between nations. Thanks alot buddy I really appreciate the last response you gave me buddy. Big hug for you too man.
@leopoldvs, I will begin training once I get the money to get myself in martial arts classes. We do have weight lifting sets, a exercising bicycle, and BowFlex treadmill to burn off those calaries and lose weight. Martial arts will be my biggest exercise training hard with weapons and fighting.
@MrKevinlclayjr In the meantime jump the rope and get a Thai-Pad (it's only $50) so you can practice your hook(punch)-elbow-knee strike combos and alternate. Do it in sets of 30 reps per side (right hook-right elbow-right knee=that's 1 rep) as soon as you finish change side (left hook-left elbow-left knee). Do 4 or 5 sets per side, that's about 240 strikes or hits per session. Later do shadow boxing grabbing 3 or 4 pound dumbells (do 3 or 5 rounds). Enjoy your workout!
Hmmm i hear that JCVD its about 1.77 mts of stature, tall ? well, tho he was like 1.90, hehehe well i only tho that i was too little (1.73) to peform kicks like Jean Cloud but now knowing this, i see that i just didn't master the kicks thats why my kicks doesn't look like jcvds kicks xD
@ superstrangevideo Woo bro don't get me wrong Van Damme and Norris are good fighters but seagel was also doing his thing before he came here to the states. He's not a pussy, you should check out his bio when you get a chance.
Actually he kind of is. Van Damme challenged him to an actual fight at Stallone's party during Stallone's peak as an action star and Seagal backed down from Van Damme. Seagal may not be a pushover, but he should at least back up what he says.
@LastSunrise1981 imagine what you would do? of course you wouldnt fight van damme. does that make you a pussy? if you dont know the guy, or is not better than him. you dont have the rights to say so
Of course I wouldn't fight him. But Seagal has been known to talk a lot of trash and promote himself as this legit tough guy, and when Van Damme challenges him to a fight because Seagal was talking trash at Stallone's party then yes he is a pussy.
@LastSunrise1981 i really dont know what happenned at that party. cause van damme said seagal started it. stallone said they were just arguing. both are great martial artists. believe me, getting a 7th dan in aikido is not easy. but its just not right to jump into conclusion when all the information you have is from someone elses :)
@LastSunrise1981 You are going off word of mouth or the media to an event you never saw happen. Van Damme was a decent amateur fighter, but that's it. He lost as many if not more fights then he won, and Steven Seagal is a 7th Dan Black Belt. The only reason he would have backed down from a fight with Van Damme would be for fear of killing him where he stood. Sorry - I'm a fan of Van Damme's movies, but let's not get carried away. Van Damme would lose... and that's putting it lightly.
Stallone confirmed this happened many times. I doubt he'd lie about something like that considering he has nothing to gain or lose by lying. Also looking up Van Damme's record he won five kickboxing bouts as a fighter and hasn't suffered a loss.
Granted five fights isn't much, but I doubt he'd be a slouch in a real fight either.
@LastSunrise1981 He also competed in the Semi-Contact 69kg World Championship, but was defeated in the opening elimination match by a fighter from Spain. Van Dammes biggest moment came as a member of the Belgian Karate Team in 1980, he was 20 years old, and the Belgian team eventually won due to forfeit from injury. His biggest rival was Patrick Teugals, his friend and countrymen. He was and always will be a semi decent AMATEUR fighter, anyone who thinks anymore is kidding themselves.
Van Damme's record was posted on the net as 20-2 (20 knockouts) and Paul Maslak of the STAR System World Kickboxing Ratings researched this record and came up with the facts that proved that most of these fights were really semi-contact matches. However, photos and newspaper reports have also supported that Van Damme indeed had full-contact/kick-boxing matches
@LastSunrise1981 As much fun as copying and pasting from wiki is, the site isn't reliable. Also, 'five' fights and no losses is also crap. He lost to his friend Patrick Teugals in the Belgium Lightweight Championship which is why he had a rematch with him before he retired. He lost in the 1978 Challenge De Espoirs Karate Tournament to 'Spataro', and in the 1978 WAKO Amateur World Championships he lost in the opening eliminations thus failing to even place in the top 10.
Even if his skills were fake (and they're not) he is still a great entertainer. He's an actor and he's an action star. He started out devoting his life to the martial arts and he pursued his dream of being an actor. He combined his two passions and he influenced an entire generation, just like Stallone and Arnie. Stallone and Arnie aren't war heroes, so why not bash them for being fakes?
IT TAKES MORE THAN ONE HELICOPTER KICK TO BEAT BOLO!!.... btw, one of those villains gotta realize that they can duck, but then again they are the villain.
Dude the man came to America with no english, and a gang of passion.
Stop hating he made more money from one movie than haters have ever made to date. There may be fighters better than him but he had the hustle to make his dream happen. How many can say that. Besides art isn't about who's better, but honest expression. And it is MArtial Arts....
He wasn't just a kickboxer with a pretty face. His flexibility and power helped him get 20 knockouts when he was a fighter. Yup he was just an ok fighter..
His Greatest ever 360 has to be Kickboxer. JUST SUBLIME.
