Pasta.... I used to work at the olive garden. All of my fellow line cooks would get a huge bowl of pasta with some super heavy buttery cream sauce, before going back to work for another 4 or 5 hours.... everyone was all lethargic and pissed off... lol. It was dumb. I'm glad I've moved on!
I thought tofu was healthy when I became vegetarian, as well as mushroom fake meat things but i found out it was soooo high in fat and really unhealthy, though I didnt stop eating it until I became raw, it was my only way to get that hamburger fix from before :p now I have to get used to no meat substitutes :p its hard, I miss the savory stuff so much..
annemarie doesn't like the fact that grains stick to your internals but she forgot to mention that the cheese nut sticks to your gut too...especially when the nuts are like powder...
last thing,i'd like to ask both of you kevin and annemarie, was it difficult for you to quit completely your italian eating habits like pasta at every meal ???thank you great recipe and great show
milk.. Not the non-pasteurized good stuff from grass fed cows/goats. The "nasty" kind you buy at grocery stores. I would have severe nasusea and diarrhea after drinking milk (lactose-intolerant) but my parents would force me to drink it and I got in trouble if I didn't drink my milk!
chef salads at any fast food place. turns out there is more bad fats and calories in the dressing than if i had eaten a big mac. thanks for the recipe. waves~~~
Too much cheese and milk were the reason I got a lot of acne break outs when I was a chubby kid, it actually kept me from wanting to drink more water. I was fed great homemade nutritious meals from all around the world, especially Italian, but I was hooked on a lot of unhealthy foods too.
unhealthy "health foods" consumed as a child: diet soda, low fat tv dinners (healthy choice) cheerios, wheaties, v8 juice, veg-all, "wheat" bread, pasteurized hormoned milk, "nature valley" bars, I believed the atkins thing as a teenager for a while, the list goes on and on. . .
Milk and Cheese. Is and was drilled in that it was a great source of calcium. And Meat, even now my mother and father inlaw are convinced that we are not getting the iron we need, because we don't eat meat lol.
Normal salt lacks or has no minerals like unrefined sea salt or other unrefined types, wich is more expencive, for some reason. When they collect Sea salt, it has many minerals from the sand and the sea weeds and everything in the sea, but refined salt has nothing and it just sodium, bad for you even if you eat just a little, though a littlt wont kill you, it is much better to use the mineral rich unrefined ones :)
For some reason growing up I was aadicted to cheese so I would say before becoming a almost raw food vegan, I thought chesse was healthy. (I used to LOVE baked mac n cheese!)
I think I'll make this for dinner tonight! :)

anything home made like a big bowl of beef stew with home made bread, or even pancakes was considered healthy.
