@gladiatorsworn no not because of CVT its because of the intake and that's why accord gets a way better mpg than altima. if you put a aftermarket intake on the accord it will make it much faster but it will lower its mpg.
The 2006-07 Accord was the most beautiful Accord in the history. Unfortunately, the 2008-12 is the ugliest. Why did you change for the worst? I have a 2006 Accord SE 2.4.
My EX-L is shit and the Electronic TB on these makes it so you can't even spin tire unless your hard on a corner...I drove an Altima 2.5 the other day and it has less power but can spin the wheels any time you want! Waste of money. Not to mention how horrible the AT's are in these things. I want a Genesis Coupe
No other car in its class has a potent 4 banger that revs to 7100rpm and will do it without drama for years on end so your commutes won't be total boredom before you finally decide to buy another Honda not because you have to but because you want to (with highest resale value in its class). Thats what I have been doing for years, the Accord never let me down.
Maybe I'm crazy but the video I just saw of the 2010 Accord LX, with its smaller engine, seemed faster. Regardless it does not seem like 190 hp. Still nice car though
It really isn't that slow. When this came out in 08 it had the most powerful 4 cylinder in the class. This is quicker than a Camry, Malibu, Fusion, Legacy, Avenger/Sebring, 6. The only 2 that beat is it the Altima and 2011 Sonata.
It doesn't take 9.5. I've seen the number vary from 8.6 to 8.9 with the 5 spd auto, if you get the stick it will do it in 8 flat. Thats not slow. I would never buy an Altima bc I hate CVTs, the new Sonata has a nice new motor but it doesnt sound as nice as the Accord and with 200 hp it isnt much faster... (8.1 with the auto)
Not really. I also hate how Nissan does the pricing on their vehicles. Example, if I want a sunroof i have to buy the premium package? Why do they force us to do that? What if I dont want the premium package? With Honda, I choose the EX trim and everything is standard, no BS $1000 bucks for this or that. Altima 4 cylinder does not take 7.2, it does with the V6 but the 4 takes 8.4 according to MT May 2010. I hate CVTs bc they send the engine to redline and hold it while accelerating
Every source is different, the v6 typically does it in the 6.5-7 sec range while the 4 is around 8-8.5 range. 7.2 is way too fast even with the 6MT is may do it in 7.8 but there is no way in the low 7 range. Accords are also in that range but the fastest car isn't always the winner. I'm a driving enthusiast and I like to shift through gears and hear the engine change pitch, I hate the gear-less nature of a CVT, to me they are designed for ppl who don't like driving.
Your sentra is lighter by 400 lbs... of course its quicker, the Altima has the same amount of hp with more weight, of course its going to take an additional second at least. Do the math. I would always choose the 6MT if I lived in an area with little traffic and I would still choose the Honda bc they build better manual transmissions. Their shifters are crisper and the clutch is easy to master. Nissans have a rubbery shifter and vague clutch. Honda still makes the best Manuals.
@xoquixxoqafxo Yeah v6 is 6.6. 2.5 is 7.4-7.8 with cvt. but manual 7.2. The altima doesnt weigh that much. Cvt is good very quite but once you punch it its loud, but you are off the line with continuous power. My source is from caranddriver look it up. and once those altima are broke - in it will be faster.
All cars , all brands run the same, this car runs the exact same as a Pontiac G6 with the 2.4, the pontiac just looks a lot better and the accord is proably more reliable after 10 years, I'd choose the Pontiac, looks are more important than reliabliliy ten years down the road when you ready to scrap the car anyway.
that's weird. I thought they were much faster than that. I know it's a 4-cylinder, but that was like over 9 seconds. 190 hp sure isn't what it used to be.
@JT30CA it's all about torque, all 190 HP means is it can rev higher, it proably has the eaxct same peak torque as the base engine, just like the Civic and the civic SI have just about the exact same torque ratings. It's a saleman's trick to sale you a car.
So many people say you shouldn't drive a car hard during break. I drove my Suzuki extremely hard for its life of 47k miles so far...and it purrs like new. I've also driven the V6 2010 Accord and I have to say, I was disappointed. I liked the 4cyl better. The V6 seemed to have too much lag in power from that weird Eco thing.
That's plenty quick for such a large saloon. Right now I drive a '99 Accord V6 coupe, but I'll probably get a 4 cylinder for my next Accord, with a manual though.
I have a 2009 EX-L I4 and wont do a speed test until I hit 5000...currently at 3300 right now. 89 or above, fuel injection cleaners about once a month and don't hotdog it. It'll break in like a baby.
I think its weird. My parents have a 2003 Honda Accord EX 4cyl and it seems like it has alot of torque. But your car is basically the same as ours and it seems it would be faster than that. I havent ever gotten the chance to push the car since every time I'm in the car my parents are with me. They wont let me drive it by myself. It seems it would be quicker, but it does the job good enough, and gets good gas mileage too.
Having owned an 03 LX 4 cylinder and an 08 EX 4, the 03 was definitely zippier. The 03 was lighter than the 08, and, the 08's had a software update to improve its acceleration which I never got b/c I traded it for an 09 V6.
hey dont push your car all the way to redline because it's not broken in yet just for example when i first got my altima i did 0-60 in 8.0sec now it does 7.3 with18,983 mi on the dash it should get like 8.0 sec flat for this one or quicker nice though
How's your car going man? I'm planning to buy a car in couple of months. I was looking at mazdaspeed 6 but i heard mazda's engines are bad.. so now looking at accord. i want the v6 but too much.. So does 2.4 have enough power? you know got the kick when you press the gas and enough to just pass cars on the highway?? please reply lol
for everyday use, I will say this car is excellent, as long as ur not doing racing, this car should be alright passing lanes on highway. I have the ex-l, it gives about nearly 200 house power, so far i am very pleased with this car, and the engine sound is great, very quiet cabin. great car overall.
Mazda's engines aren't bad at all. Their latest I4's and V6's are some of the best in class. The 6i (I4) with the 6-speed auto is a bit faster than the Accord 2.4 auto, but when they both have a stick, the Accord is faster. Doesn't make any sense, but that's the way it is.
I like this car so far. It is sluggish off the line when you punch it, but it's fine for daily driving. I think it has plenty of passing power, and this is coming from a guy who was spoiled by a V6 Accord lol.
Having owned an 08 EX 4 cylinder and now an 09 V6, the V6 is definitely faster. The EX 4 cylinder however, with a manual transmission should have plenty of zip
@slee1488 if u want power, altima is the best for V-6. The 4 cylinder mazda 6 is not the best, its actually pretty bad due to the horsepower, efficiency, and acceleration. I would prefer the altima, beats all the sedans in 0-60 and 1/4 mile run in both the 4 cylinder and V-6. but its up to u if u want the mazda. I've seen the mazda and the body integrity was weak and the paint job was bad. The engine makes too many noises, more irratating than the CVT noise.
@slee1488 Mazdas arent the best, but I would recomend the Honda, we have a 2006 w/ this motor, and it has been more relible than god. And it is very reliable. and very peppy, only problem is the 5 speed auto. But I would go Honda, or Toyota. YOu would have the best luck with those.
@accordguy0325 New motors are covered in assembly lube (think grease) when assembled. Do you really want to drive for 5000mi with that stuff in your oil. Most professional Honda engine builders are now reccomending that the oil be changed within 50-200mi and then again at 2000mi. During this time the motor should be driven hard but allowed to operate at different rpms to help seat the rings. I have a B17a1 on my floor w/153,000mi and you can still see the honing swirls on the cylinder walls.
@th83 0-60 for this car is basically same as the TSX which makes me wonder why would one buy a tsx? I mean a tsx costs 7k more. also my old 2000 corolla did 9s 0-60 and it had shit load of cargo room (im not trying to hate on honda i own 2 hondas myself acura tl and rdx) but i personally think 4cyl hondas are not performance oriented and a rip-off.
@immortal4942 umm my 07 tsx can do 0-60 in 7.8 seconds with the automatic, and it is a 4 cylinder, i dont see how that it is slow and plus, it weighs more than the new honda accords
@th83 haha, when I had my 2002 Civic LX I had 27,500kms on it, and that was pretty well broken in, then I lost it :( But I would say anywhere between 5000 and 10000 miles. Although, if you drive a new car hard in the beginning it will be like a cell phone battery not charged for the recommended time out of the box, will have issues WELL before the expected time.
@madpistol I dont see how Hondas Accord 2.4L has 170, 190, and finally 207 HP all with the same engine, but Acuras TSX has only the 2.4L with 201 HP... Does honda change small parts like exhoust and air filters for this? oh and im a big Acura and Honda guy but io just never understood this. Tonights line up:
@Dillon1791 Tuning, different headers, intake, remapping of the engine, etc. You can do a lot with a well designed block. Why do you think we keep squeezing more and more horsepower out of the same displacement as 10 years ago?
LX-S Coupe is a lot faster

I find it stupid how theres an 170hp engine and a 190hp engine.
Make all of their 4 cylinders 190hp.
Honda's Accords are being smoked in horsepower by Hyundai's Sonata and Kia's Optima in price anyway.

there are lots of vids on here in the low-mid 7 sec rang, one thats 6.9 with just an intake
And if you are truly "enthusiatic" you would just get a 6spd,in which case the altima is still faster.
A cvt is much better than a convential auto for most people.

@th83 most cars are still considered "tight" untill about 20,000 miles, sounds crazy but true

10 secs ? how
wongmylesa 2 years ago
I'm pretty sure it's because of the weight, the Accord classifies as a large sedan. It looks slow, but driving one myself, it feels faster.

Hahaa i dunno.. Lol thats 190 hp.. its supposed to make 60 in like 7ish !
wongmylesa 2 years ago
@banstaman only 600 miles may be why ?
wongmylesa 2 years ago
I didn't pay attention to the mileage, that's probably why.
banstaman 2 years ago
10 sec 0-60? That isn't what I got and that isn't what the owner of the car got either. 8.7 secs for 0-60 is what I got.
