Until 2001 Alina was the better one but from 2001 onwards it was Irina, she improved while Kabaeva regressed.

@gymnasticfan Agree. In the beginning Alina was bright and I can understand why she was admired. But later she lost much while Irina was progressing fast. Love her as much as many other gymnasts: Batyrshina, Petrova, Panova, Zhukova, Serebryanskaya, Sesina. They're all unique. Why is always Alina?

If you don't remember, Irina made a huge mistake in her ribbon routine and that made her lose the gold. If hadn't made that mistake, I believe she would have recived gold indeed.

Indeed she made the mistake with the ribbon and unfortunately for her it was the last apparatus. Alina's scores for her other apparatus was far too high, it looked like she scored high for incase she made a mistake like 2000 Sydney and then could recover, regardless of Irina's ribbon mistake her other scores was way low.

Anycase Alina won, well done for her. I;m just a Tchachina 2004 Athens fan, she was great there. In total the sport is very corrupt and most girls dont get deserved scores.

kabaeva puede ke exprese mucho, pero lo ke hace falta es hacer bien las cosas, y aunk tenga mucha flexibilidad, no es limpia haciendo los pasos, por lo ke se le deberian descontar muchisimas cosas de su eskema, y k por supuesto no lo hacen y keda siempre primera, pk esta comprada. Tchachina tmb hace las cosas de una forma bastante desprolija, pero menos k kabaeva. Por lo k kreo k la mejor es Tchachina pk cierra los giros y lso ekilibrios mejor =)

That's not true, Alina concentrated more on the tricks then Irina, Alina always had to run after her apparatus and escpecially towards the end 2002, she fell out her pivots and lost all grace. She was very unique and great but Irina was great as well and truelly deserved the gold in Athens.

Irina was much more graceful then Alina and is a beautiful person inside, rather then a fake show, she was herself and was very dedicated to the sport and her love for it.

I like them both equally. They both have different styles...like Alina shows more flexibility on her back...and Irina on her legs. :-)

I like them both. But hate the music they use. Alina is not a 10y.o. any more and she should try more interesting music. I'd love to see Irina doing her rutine with classic or heavy metal rock. She could be great. She has that drama in her character. I don't really know about Alina... her character becomming a little retarderd for her body. Though I love her, just would love to see her developing.

theyre both great.but if u watch alinas later performances youll notice she makes 2-3 mistakes in nearly all of them.shes very sloppy.n tbh i think her smile is fake.she doesnt smile out of performance.alina gets sloppy because she knows shell win anyway because the judges r biast.theyre are far more better gymnastas out there who need alot more notice.

yes alina is an amazing gymnast but u have to admit she is sloppy at times. plus i think irina looks better when performing elements cos she's not naturally flexible whereas alina is so i think irina tries harder
