  • Absolutely the most pathetic review I have ever seen! Thanks for nothing!

  • you can zoom when recording video by using CHDK on your memory card.

  • with chdk is this the best cam for me..

  • which is better tis 1 or samsung st550??

  • uhh can u pause with it?

  • I'm between buying this Canon PowerShot SX200 IS or Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7 / ZS3, witch one would you recomend to buy? :)

  • I was stuck between buying the panasonic tz7 and canon sx200 for a long time lol, but after doing my research i realised that canon has always delivered one of the best high quality vidz plus the colour it captures is SO spot on etc...but there's a new one out 'canon sx210' and its suppose to be a MUCH better version of the sx200. watch out! :) hope i helped...

  • Lumix make better video - avchd and super sound but PowerShot have 12mpix and 1cm makro... so videos vs. photos... your choice...

  • Good, Thanks. BUYERS!!! NEVER BUY A CANON TILL THEY OWN UP TO THE CRIPPLING E18 FAULT. GOOGLE E18 FAULT AND YOU WILL AGREE

  • Yes! HD Video Zooming and Refocusing can be done with SX200 IS. My "Mississippi State University 2010" movie provides all kinds of photo/video made using SX200 IS. Read descriptions and find out how to enable optical video zooming and much more!!! (DIGIC 4 Processor inside!)

  • do you want zoom in video recording?

Try CHDK on your camera, for my sx200 is works fine, automatic programed shots (1x30segs for example), zoom in video recording mode in all modes. RAW mode and much more.

just search that in google or other search engine.

    Greetz!

  • WHY DIDNT HE MENTION COLOR ACCENT/ EXCELLENT DIGITAL MACRO/ COLOR SWAP/ ZOOM DURING VIDEO!

How can cNet give these kinds of reviews when they don't even have the camera features down. This guy obviously didnt have enough time to really get to know the camera. I rely more on owners' reviews rather than critics.

  • I just got this camera and it does let me zoom when I am filming. This guy is an idiot. His reviews are always pretty negative. I LOVE MINE

  • if you want to film with optical zoom you need a hacked firmware...i've got one and I can even autofocus while filming...which is great...look at my video and be amazed:P

  • has anybody tryed SDHC cards like sandisk ultra, or kington elite pro, in it , and see what the OPTICAL or digital zoom it like" what i cant understand is, why you guys have this camera, if you dont like it, you do have one , right? and have tested it right?

  • the optical zoom is locked. the zooming you see is digital zoom and thats not as good since you get less resolution the more you zoom in. it is a bit confusing. the flash always pops up and can't be put down!! why would they do that?

  • the opitcal zoom is not locked on filming on this camera , you can zoom in and out when recording, and it will play back , and i think that this cannon , is the only maker that has ( colour accent) as this one has its a nice tool . for playing around with black and white shots, but he dont tell you that ,,,,,,

  • Yeah OPTICAL but optical zoom is freakin useless thats just streching the picture and zooming in on the pixels you could as well watch the recorded video on a really really big screen and have the same effect. So you loose al lot of quality.

    Thumbs up for the Panasonic!!!

  • No, optical is good and what you want since.....DIGITAL ZOOM is what your thinking of

  • @shock21joker You're sadly mistaken! Digital is usless. Optical is what u NEED!

  • @shock21joker Sorry i meant DIGITAL zoom^^

  • I KNOW!!! they never talk about the color accent feature. I was between this one and the SD970 because someone stole my SD880 at a soccer game, and I decided to go with this one. The 970 is gorgeous, but i wanted this because it had the zoom, the mp, and the color swap / accent feature

  • this guy is being SUPER negative about this camera! i absolutely love mine and i have had tremendous photo quality with it! he should be focusing on the positive things about it rather than the many bad things.

  • this guy is a fkn idiot. he always does shitty reviews. all these cameras are amazing

  • I know! its really frustrating. The Samsung TL225 (dual screens) is a decent camera but the picture quality is just so-so. This guy gave it 4 out of 5 stars. Thats ridiculous. Although the Samsung is all high tech and more modern, Samsung will never amount to even an 1/8 of the type of camera that Canon is . He's always negative about the cameras he reviews. I love this one. he's a little bitch

  • i have this camera and test for video shoting, agree w/ melodramatic7094, it can zoom while recording but only for 4x, but my problem is :

eventhough i have lot of free space for video, the recording has stopped just for about 35 seconds, anyone can help me about this issue maybe the setting for video? thanks

  • is it possible to have the settings where you the brightest color is only showing and everything else is balck and white?

  • Ive been really lucky with my Sony Cybershot DSC-H3, it only has 8 megapixels, but 10x optical zoom. It takes grainy videos when they are in a larger format. But i may switch to this camera. I don't like Canon's interface as much as Sony's, but its features weigh out more!

  • wel.. i thought sony is better..but i was wrong! i asked camera's specialist and he said that sony is good but canon is better!

then i bought the same canon camera but mine is black

  • I like Canon.

  • Sony's interface is much more streamlined... I love my DSC-H3

  • I think sony is popular brand but not good quality. Mine is very very sensitive.

  • has someone filmed concerts with this camera....I am not sure about the sound qualitiy

  • i recomend sony...better quallity

  • sony works better in low light condition. canon has better color quality

  • youre crazy

  • Oh the flash wont stay down eh? It will when I've finished, I broke the flash hinge on purpose, now I can lift it up just like a Manual flash when I need it, :))

  • I have this camera and the optical zoom is NOT locked while recording movies. I can show you a couple of movies shot on my camera where the optical zoom was being used while recording.

  • it's locked, what you're using is digital zooming, not optical.

  • what's the difference? zoom is zoom no?

  • No, Optical zooming is way better than digital zooming, optical zooming uses the lenses to zoom in which results in better picture quality, digital zooming is a computarized process that results in blurry or grainny images. Everyone knows Canon cameras don't allow optical zooming for VIDEO(only digitally), they do allow you use optical zooming for pictures though.

  • I see, well first sorry for getting it wrong. Second, sorry for not being a camera buff like you (everyone know canon doesn't allow optical zooming).

I was wrong to be so quick to say it has optical zooming but just to point out not everyone follows digital camera like it's their life so not EVERYONE is going to know stuff like. My friend who looks at cameras online everyday didn't even know.

  • lol ok sorry, but it's been said online so many times, I figured most would know by now, but yeah canon is lacking in that aspect.

  • haha. I'm a teacher s I don't really have time to be online. I bought this on a friend's recommendation. I do have to say though. This is an excellent camera. I think the digital zoom is ok. For the most part the video quality is excellent. Of course this is coming from someone who didn't even know the different between digital and optical zoom but still. :)

  • TZ7 can.

  • Is it capable of Optical Zoom While Shooting Video's...???

  • Unfortunately you can't zoom while recording videos.

  • yes you can. I have this camera.
