This movie terrifies me. I have had an eating disorder for the past three years, and my sister became incredibly depressed. She stopped eating. Things got better with my eating disorder, but my sister's still having problems because of her social situation, although she's eating normally again. A few months ago I began throwing up, although no one in my family knows, and I'm terrified of telling them mostly because of her. I just don't know what to do.

I had one and I know that some basics of it stay with you for a long time, especially if you don't change other things going on in your life. However, please don't compare it to cancer. When you want to get better from ED, you know how to do it. Wanting to get better from cancer doesn't mean you will. it's not at all comparable. Can you say that only 10% of cancer patients die, as they said about anorexia in this film?

From my experience with having ED there is a point where you CHOSE to start (Before it takes over and then before you know it, it controls you). But to have started AFTER her sister died from it...how dumb can you be?
You know it wasnt till part 7 that she started showing signs of depression. Before that she was fine, and everyone kept insisting something was wrong with her. They pushed her into it.
I feel like I understand the characters in this movie so well. I was quite overweight as a child so my mom sent me to weight watchers and constantly made me diet. An eating disorder and two relapses later, my mom wonders why I'm now obsessed with staying thin. I don't blame her for doing what she thought best, but parents should really be more aware as to the influence they have on their children.
@thatonekiddo i've always been overweight and it was pointed out 24/7, either by peers or by my people comparing me to my stupid perfect gorgeous younger cousin... until i turned 13. i dropped weight like there was no tomorrow. i think that's why i understand the characters...

Well it is a film you can't expect every to be so precise, in the real world they wouldn't have ED diaries, access to computers and copiers, sneak diet pills in, they would be closely watched.

From my experience with having ED there is a point where you CHOSE to start (Before it takes over and then before you know it, it controls you). But to have started AFTER her sister died from it...how dumb can you be?

I feel like I understand the characters in this movie so well. I was quite overweight as a child so my mom sent me to weight watchers and constantly made me diet. An eating disorder and two relapses later, my mom wonders why I'm now obsessed with staying thin. I don't blame her for doing what she thought best, but parents should really be more aware as to the influence they have on their children.

@thatonekiddo i've always been overweight and it was pointed out 24/7, either by peers or by my people comparing me to my stupid perfect gorgeous younger cousin... until i turned 13. i dropped weight like there was no tomorrow. i think that's why i understand the characters...
