@JohnHFilms but this ain't cinema like. it's even too wide for cinema aspect ratio. go watching a new movie trailer on youtube and you'll notice it isn't as wide as yours.
watching this again I noticed that you dident decompress it correctly! also a real movie dosent have DOF in every scene, it seems like the camera your using constantly is producing alot of it, kills the picture for me
@parravision2011 This was just a test really, there was no proper mount so I was just holding the element to the lens with my hand. It's decompressed correctly, it's a 2x anamorphic on a native 16x9 capture so it's a lot wider than normal. The lens was broken and stuck at f3.9 on a FF sensor so that explains the DoF. Check some of my other anamorphic vids for better examples. Like Redwood Shores or my MMPR commercial spoofs.
@parravision2011 Every shot HAS DOF. You mean a SHALLOW DOF. Also the camera only has a limited contribution on DOF. The lens has the major dictation. People who dont seem to know what they are on about really KILL it for me. Dont be so f***ng critical about a well shot test.
I recently purchased a Sankor lens and I'm getting great stuff combining it wth my 7D. I'm curious how you exported your footage for this video. I'm having difficulty getting the footage stretched back out in FCP. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks and keep up the great work!
@jodroboxes bokeh is the blur in the out-of-focus areas of an image, or Bokeh occurs for parts of the scene that lie outside the depth of field, hope it helps
How you focus? Both lens? How about framing the image? Things spear distort in the digital viewfinder monitor right? What step down ring do you use to move the lens to achive the long skinny objects? Thank you
@UnderwoodLiam i would say 5dmkII is better at inerpreting colors with the full frame sensor, 21 mp's theres a video somewhere i think if u google 5dmk2 vs 7d with a side by side comparision. They are both good cameras, but if and when i get the money ill get the 5d mk II .best of luck
Is there any trick to remove the vingette? How do you like the sankor...i just bought the same ;) i got a 500d and a 50mm nikon. Do you think it works? Please do some more tests ;)
Thanks. The only way to minimize the vignette is to find the right focal length and get it mounted as straight and well as possible, it was pretty severe in this video because i was just holding the anamorphic lens up with my hands. For a crop frame camera you can probably get away with a 50mm but not with full frame. I am editing a new video right now with my DIY mounting rig and the results so far are good.
That'd be totally incredible. I've been reading about using anamorphic lenses, but many (like Lomo) have elements that extend into the body and won't work with 5D mkII mirror. That leaves me with the only two options of using an adapter on lenses, or doing a dirty crop and losing resolution which frankly feels pretty grimy. I really want to shoot 2.39:1, so I'd love a tutorial, or at least more info on how you've achieved this.
yes, you are right. I still don't have the proper step rings to mount the adapter so I am holding the element in front of the lens while shooting and focusing so it's not screwed in straight
How did you end up with such an odd aspect ratio? 3.12:1 doesn't make a lot of sense.

the vignettes totally ruin this... the most overused effect

The shot at 0:13 with the post structure reminds of something shot by tarantino. If you can recall, what grading did you use for it.

This is incredible! You only hold the Sankor with your hands? Great! Very good footage! It helps me alot!

I like this, its too hand held though. Who says that real films have to include deep DOF and shallow? Its art. You can do what you like.

much too wide-the picture

@Kentiapalme That's why it's ANAMORPHIC. It's supposed to be cinema-like aspect ratio.

Hey Akira,
Greetings from Amsterdam,
I recently purchased a Sankor lens and I'm getting great stuff combining it wth my 7D. I'm curious how you exported your footage for this video. I'm having difficulty getting the footage stretched back out in FCP. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks and keep up the great work!

but... i think the sankor isnt centered. Thats why the flare isnt horizontally. Also the background looks skew.
I also noticed that in a french video (in Paris) with an Iscorama adaptor.
