@Magneset Try playing "knights of honor" faster pasted more of a military game, their is still trade, peace treaty's, marring off your daughters as assets etc... its easier to get into. P.S i just do quick battles... lol im horrible at them....

@MrDlCatalin Well, I have both, and I actually like EUIII better. Total War is fun for the battles (and it's a LOT easier to learn :P), but I like the feeling of epicness and how the world feels alive in EUIII. Plus, the difficulty doesn't nosedive late game (if you have lucky nations on).

total war's strategy campaign is too dumb while this one has no battle, basically risk alike...lol. Honestly, koei's historical strategy game is better than those...

imo, koei's strategy doesnt have battle either...it's mainly determined by characters' stats, once you gather all good generals in 3 kingdoms or nobunaga's ambition, you can easily pwn all enemies...Total Was has good battle which allow users to control their own army like other rts games without factory, but its campaign is so boring (i dont civ's system for campaign).

anyone know a game similar to this one except you could see your armies move,camp to rest or sack villages for food,you could also convert countries to another religion or to your culture, and when enemy armies met they'd either get in a rts mode or auto-battle. another thing i remember is that you could marry your sons to princesses for territory inheritance. it had europe in the name but whenever i google for it i get to this game.

That's ok. I got DW. But have u tried playing multiplayer? We tried with my friend via hamachi and it worked but then since some time it started crashing. We play and play and the one who isnt a host gets eu3.exe has stoppedworking.

Comparing AoE to this has no sense....Age of Empires focuses only on war.

Europa Universalis focuses on everything: government, economy, diplomacy, war and even religions. It's the maximum expression of strategy, SO only hardcore strategy gamers would like it. The rest of the players will find it boring.

Bro, keep your treasury slider such that minting is net 0.00. Inflation will kill you especially as the game progress.

Oh, and declare war when all your troops are ready at the border with full morale and not before. :D

right off the bat i can tell you are a noob. you put your slider all the way to the right not caring about inflation which is one of the most important thing in-game that you need to keep very low. on top of that you take a loan, i've not watched the whole video but that is enough to say you are very noob!

Hi. I just bought EU:Rome for basically like 2 bucks, i alrdy have Victoria 2 which i love, but the Roman version just isnt big enough for me. I feel too confined in such a small area. Anyways, IF you have played both this game AND Rome, which do you think is best? And would you recommend me getting this game??

PS: I also thought the density of EU:Rome had been quite overestimated.. for instance V2 is much more dense. So would you say EU3 is more like Rome or Victoria? THX ;)

@NorwegianPotato EU3 is way better, at least i think so, you have all world at your disposal, and EU3 is more like Rome... But if you buy EU3 remember to buy or download all expansions, you have to buy EU3 Heir to the throne, without it game isn't worth playing. And download mod. RISING NATIONS, that's the best mod everrrr, you can play as any nation from 1399 to 2010, and game stops at 99999 : ) in that mod there is no terra incognita, if you want to know more PM me, ; )

Well, I dont think anyone should argue about this game being boring or not. Grand strategies of this complexity require a type of gamer. Many people, the "mass gamers" so to speak, just won't like it and find it boring; they have empireTW, or many other games that they could play. I personally find it just too hard for a "game"; I play for the enjoyment and not for brainwork. However I did not play this yet and will maybe give it a try.
