Iraq was a threat & destablizing influence on the region, broke the 91 cease fire agreement (giving us right to invade & remove Hussein), gave safe haven to terrorists, Hussein found ways of killing & torturing even during the 90s, and was a constant challenge to the power & resolve of the USA.

By invading Afghanistan & Iraq, we established the 2nd & 3rd democracy in the Middle East, & got Libya to give up its WMDs.

First the legality: According to the US Constitution (Article 6, Paragraph 2): "...and all Treaties made...under the Authority of the US, shall be the supreme Law of the Land." The US is a signatory of the UN Charter Treaty which states in Article 51 that the use of force is only allowed in self defense to an actual or imminent attack. Since Iraq was not an imminent threat to our country in 2003, our invasion was illegal.
