  • How come there are no Code Pinkers in places like China, North Korea, Iran or Saudi Arabia??

  • JD WTF does Iraq have to do with American freedom?

Have you teabagged your favorite RepubliCUNT today?

  • Lizzy, your tough question fell upon a politician's question meant to set you off emotionally with buzzword "freedom". When he turned and walked you got this round.

  • @ddbarker1 yes, his non-reply was a diversion.

  • Hayworth is a joke, re-elect mcCain

  • Its such an easy slam to ask someone if the war in Iraq or Afghanistan was worth the lives of any of our soldiers.

Was it the right thing to do to engage Japan & Germany in WWII? How many soldiers lives was it worth to defeat Hitler? I want to hear a body count. One? One hunderd thousand? One million?

    Please, someone answer.

  • You are comparing stopping Hitler's war machine that had already invaded other countries...to invading Iraq which didn't even have the weapons we said they had? You're kidding, right?

  • No, I'm making the point that war costs lives, no matter what you do. Iraq was a threat & destablizing influence on the region, broke the 91 cease fire agreement (giving us right to invade & remove Hussein), gave safe haven to terrorists, Hussein found ways of killing & torturing even during the 90s, and was a constant challenge to the power & resolve of the USA.

By invading Afghanistan & Iraq, we established the 2nd & 3rd democracy in the Middle East, & got Libya to give up its WMDs.

  • You're a bit on the delusional side if you think Iraq or Afghanistan is more stable now than before we invaded. How about ask the Iraqis that question?

About giving safe-haven to terrorists, that was dispelled with the WMD lie. The region of Iraq he was in was not in Saddam's control. Look it up.

You said Iraq was a "constant challenge to the power and resolve of the USA". What does that mean? By this logic, can other countries invade us, if we "challenge their resolve"?

  • "if you think"

--Well, its no longer a terrorist training camp, or the headquarters of Al Qaeda, and women aren't openly beaten in public anymore, and little girls can now attend school. I'd say that's at least heading towards stability.

    "ask the Iraqis that question?"

    --Okay. watch?v=HogCxeJ-XHo

    "not in Saddam's control"

--Wrong. He had express permission from Hussein.

    "What does that mean?"

    --Are you for real?

    "can other countries invade"

    --They're free to try, no?

  • Your nice old lady video from 2007 is just that: one Iraqi lady. Let's look at a larger sample size of Iraqis from 2007:

[search for iraqis poll global policy org 2007]

Q19 and Q23: Not only did the majority of Iraqis say that the invasion should have never happened, but they say that attacks on our troops are justified.

  • "Let's look at a larger sample size of Iraqis"

--Okay. Since 2007 Iraqis have been openly helping our soldiers find & rout terrorists instead of hiding them or remaining silent. And after the govt was toppled in the invasion the number of newspapers in Iraq went from 1 or 2 to dozens.

There will always be those who condemn their benefactors. But several times the elected leaders of Iraq, and the people, were asked if the USA should just pack up and go, and they always answered no.

  • Saddam gave permission for Al Qaida to stay in Iraq? Where's your source?

  • "Where's your source?"

--I didn't say anything about Al Qaeda. I wrote "terrorists."

My sources are the Clinton State Dept., the NYTimes, CIA Dir. George Tenent (Clinton appointee), The 9/11 Commission Report, The A.P., and a Senate report from 2008. Hussein also continued to fun PLO terrorist actions throughout his regime.

  • You're misinformed. There were parts of Iraq that Saddam had no control over. What you are talking about was one of those areas.

  • "They're free to try, no?"

Ok, if you're a might-makes-right fan, then you should have just came out and announced your irrationality at the beginning.

  • Afghanistan is a democracy..yeah, right. Karzi is the mayor of Kabul and his brother is a connected to the poppie trade.

And your assertion that Libya gave up it's WMD's because of the Iraq invasion is simplistic. There have been diplomats working on that for years.

  • "Afghanistan is a democracy..yeah, right"

--And what kind of democratic republic was the USA in the 1800s? Not a really good one. We had slavery, did we not? No voting for women. Etc. The Afghan democracy is how old?

    "And your assertion that Libya"

--Umm... he actually said the invasion is why he gave them up. He feared invasion of Libya. Tell me, please, how much progress "they" made before the invasion? I'm dying to know. Were they just inches away?

  • 4% of americans owned slaves.

  • Look at our revolution. It was organic. We threw out the occupiers. We are the occupiers in in Iraq and Afghanistan. Much like we were in Vietnam and the French in Algeria.

  • "We are the occupiers in in Iraq and Afghanistan"

--So you're saying we should have just left both countries in total rubble & chaos once we were through? Great idea, dummy.

Rebuild a country, you rebuild friendships. And that's exactly what we're doing in Iraq (where we've moved our soldiers out of the cities), and we're trying to do in Afghanistan.

But if we follow the calls of dunder-heads like you, it will be Vietnam all over again.

  • Where in our Constitution does it say we are to spread democracy or nation build?

By the way, how strongly do you really feel about the occupations? Would you give a limb or your life to it?

By the way, it's not free. Our nation is going broke to "make friends" as you say.

  • "Where in our Constitution does it say?

--Probably the same place you'll find the mandate for government-run healthcare. But he is Cmdr of the military, and foreign policy is in his hands as we all accept.

"Would you give a limb or your life to it?"

--For what item of foreign policy would you?

    "it's not free"

    --What isn't free?

"Our nation is going broke to "make friends" as you say"

--And it doesn't waste money on other bullshit, only this? That's a first! And only I say? Really?

  • >he is Cmdr of the military, and foreign policy is in his hands as we all accept.

Again, you are basically saying might makes right. Just because we can invade and occupy others does not make it right when we do.

    >For what item of foreign policy would you?

    You're avoiding the question.

    >What isn't free?

    You're avoiding the question.

    >And it doesn't waste money on other bullshit, only this?

You can't speak to this point, so your reaction is silly. You're not saying anything.

  • "you are basically saying might makes right"

--No, I was answering your question about the Constitution. Is this how you debate?

"does not make it right when we do"

--You make it sound like we do it as a first choice.

    "You're avoiding the question"

--No, I'm offereing perspective. You're original question is on the level of "are you still beating your wife?"

    "your reaction is silly"

--Ridiculous. You're asking aboutthe govt wasting money, but you're only fixating on one thing? Hypocrite.

  • "You make it sound like we do it as a first choice."

Choice to deal with what? You make it sound like it was a war of necessity. Iraq had no WMD and no workable ties with Al Qaida. This has been proven.

"You're asking aboutthe govt wasting money, but you're only fixating on one thing? Hypocrite. "

I'm trying to stick to the core of this video. I would say that wasting money on war (involving life and death) is different than "wasting" it on healthcare of our own citizens.

  • You're exaggerating Libya's admission to fit your fantasy that violence or threat of violence solves all problems.

  • "You're exaggerating Libya's admission"

    ->>No I didn't.

Great job backing up your assertion. A 3-year old can do that.

  • The other point is what price do those in favor of battling Hitler & Hirohito put on those campaigns?

Its a very simple question, which I notice you didn't answer. And I don't think you will. No one will. I mean, how can anyone look into the eyes of a mother who lost a son in WWII and honestly say "the life of your son was worth us getting Hitler to shoot himself."

Those against invading Iraq are also against other tactics of getting rid those like Hussein. Which becomes another question

  • this idiot scares white man during their lunch break , when they sitting in their trucks listing to him.

  • Hahahaha

    Do you believe in FREEDOM?

  • JD Hayworth is a goof, there is a reason he's an ex-congressman who couldnt win in a red district. It will be interesting to see if he tries to challenge McCain in the 2010 primaries?

  • Jd Hayworth is a ZERO!

    Hate talk is his Hobby!

  • hahha... yeah there were bombings before 2003.. just because the media didnt cover it which is your only source of information doesnt mean it didnt happen.. my brother was there in 2000.. yes we had forces there in 2000.. and there were bombings then.. so keep being ignorant and trusting the media.. whatever..

  • Enlighten us then. How much chaos was there just before our invasion? How many more suicide bombings were there before 2003?

  • and we never do what the UN says.. we dont care about it cus it doesnt really matter since they just want our help n dont want to give anything..

  • Code pink traitors. They hate our troops and hate America.

  • Codepink were not the ones who lied to our country and sent our troops to the other side of the globe to start an unnecessary war that has bankrupted the country and killed thousands of Americans and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis.

  • umm.. war actually didnt bankrupt our country.. people just finally noticed we are in debt to ourselves.. and ok think about it.. we only wish we killed that many people over there.. we havent.. and have only lost a few thousand in how many years now? in a day we lost more than this in WW2

  • The war certainly helped to bankrupt us...and still counting. Not to mention the indirect costs: the price of oil soared for a while partially due to the instability our invasion has caused.

Only a few thousand lives lost? Tell that to their family. For what was their sacrifice?

  • the soldiers? as one i can say i volunteered and i will die for freedom.. that includes others freedom. that is what they died for. talk to any returning soldier and they will tell you that.

  • Sorry. The awful truth is that they died for Bush's lies. Bush states in his 2003 SOU address: "If Saddam does not disarm, we will lead a coalition to disarm him." WMD WMD WMD. Take a look at IVAW's website.

If it was all about freedom, there were other places in the world that were worse off than Iraq in 2003. The problem was that they didn't have trillions of dollars worth of oil under their soil.

  • we arent only in iraq.. we are in lots of places giving people a chance at freedom. and how is it about oil, since we dont control any of it over there? seriously you people are fuckign retarded. in a war soldiers die.. we respect that we might have to one day. we sign up knowing that and we are okay with it... so quit bitching about it.. they didnt die for nothin anddont u dare say they did///

  • I'm talking about Iraq. That's the topic of this thread and the video. Our in invasion of Iraq in 2003 was unnecessary, unjustified and illegal. How is it that when another country invades another and hundreds of thousands die it's called aggression...but when we do it, it's called a "fight for freedom". Bush tried to conquer Iraq and he failed. Bush Sr knew better.

  • how was it illegal? Bush can send the armies anywhere he wants for 90 days, then it has to be approved by congress.. they approved it in weeks.. and check your facts.. hundreds of thousands dead? hahahaha.. not if you combine everyone we killed, everyone of us that died, and all of them that blew themselves and their neighbors up with suicide bombs.. hundreds of thousands.. ha u must be kidding me..

  • First the legality: According to the US Constitution (Article 6, Paragraph 2): "...and all Treaties made...under the Authority of the US, shall be the supreme Law of the Land." The US is a signatory of the UN Charter Treaty which states in Article 51 that the use of force is only allowed in self defense to an actual or imminent attack. Since Iraq was not an imminent threat to our country in 2003, our invasion was illegal.

  • it wasnt illegal.. the president as the chief of the armed forces like i said can do whatever he wants for either 60 or 90 days i dont remember which.. and it was approved by congress ie the supreme law of the land bitch

  • Again, according to Article 6, Paragraph 2 of our US Constitution, the treaties we ratify are the supreme law of the land. If you prefer to dismiss the US Constitution in order to escape reality, go ahead.

  • I guess YouTube does not allow links. So about the number of Iraqi deaths: According to an ORB study done in Jan 2008, they claim that just over a million Iraqis have been killed since 2003. According to a Lancet study in 2006, they claim that 600,000 died. And according to a WHO study, they claim between 100,000 to 200,000 died.

    Yes, hundreds of thousands.

  • hahahah.... bull shit.. that many might have very well died since 2003, but that is not all by our hand.. they kill themselves.. suicide bombs? car bombs..ring any bells...

  • How many suicide bombs were happening in Baghdad before our invasion in 2003? None that I've heard of.

We started this war which led to the chaos and violence that followed. We are accountable. Good luck with your state of denial.

  • Suicide bombings? None that I heard of? You just said it all! We heard NOTHING until we got there. There has been unrest in the middle east since dinasours roamed the earth. I hope you are not saying that our presence in Iraq is going to change anything. Cause it is NOT. 3 TRILLION dollars later, and NOTHING has been accomplished. And these tea baggers don't want to spend 900 Billion to help America? Fuck um!

  • Thanks Liz !! So glad that I was inside the gymnasium where complete respect was shown to President Obama, rather than outside where all the insanity was taking place. Thanks to everyone who was out on the street that day in support of our President.

  • Everytime the question of IRAQ comes up with JD -he talks about Freedom--

when is enough enough ? when should we leave....since we lost a long time ago

and continue to bring great suffering to the people of this world by prolonging instability???thx for sharing Nick

  • we lost? what and when did we lost?
