u could say their senses are superior to ours, but more accuratly, their senses are just better adapted to their natural environment, because their environment isn't our environment. its not about being better than the other. it never is. its not about being better, its about adapting as closely as u can to your environment. those that can't , die.or suffer.

Let this be a lesson to you ALL. Hit a shark in the face and IT WILL GO AWAY. It has a very sensitive organ at the end of its snout which it uses the said electrical signals and sharks cant stand it getting hit.
Well, I don't know about you mate, But If I was surrounded by sharks in the ocean I wouldn't just sit there waiting for my death. I'd at least attempt to scare them off : D
fascinating. our human sensors are so very limited. Im trying hard to "see" or understand, what these sharks can sense. It's a fun intellectual adventure.
Thing about sharks is, most of the attacks on humans are indeed accidental. Look at it this way; sharks are an ancient lifeform. They have evolved to the point of being super predators in their habitat (water). They've hunted the same prey for thousands of years. Humans swimming on the surface of water look very similar to a large shark's instinctual prey - seals.
You are assuming, by saying "accidental", that they wouldn't eat us if they knew we weren't fish... I doubt they care what they eat as long as it's filling. If you bury yourself next to a flesh eating ant hill, would it be accidental for the ants to eat you? The accidental part is only that the humans don't intend to get eaten... but then, who jumps in the water with the intent to get eaten by anything?
pretty much all shark attacks are not intentional. they can smell a single drop of blood in something like 1 000 000 galoons of water. that mississippi thing did happen but years and years and years ago. sharks are attracted to the small electrical current in objects, hense why they often bite propellers when the attack boats, hense why they go for big boats and metal cages instead of the people swimming around. i'm not a marine biologist or anything, i just know alot about them
I have heard experts say that shark attacks are really by accident, on the shark's part. I tend to believe that because nobody is ever EATEN (shark taking second bites)by sharks... at least that I have ever heard of.
I did see on Discovery's "Shark Week" that there was an instance where one swam up the Mississippi River. Somehow it's liver (or whatever organ) adapted to fresh water.
A lot of percentages are tossed around about sharks, mine, 100% of the attacks are in the ocean!
Bull Sharks are capable of swimming in fresh water. This makes them the most dangerous shark, simply because they have been known to swim up large rivers and attack swimmers in shallow, fresh water.
Thanks piratebri, I could have gone the rest of my life without hearing that. Kansas, here I come.
Actually, fresh water sharks are even more dangerous. Think of all those loonies that keep "exotic" animals that eventually kill them or the human sets them free. I think I can kiss a good night's sleep goodbye tonight!
GREAT! YET MORE VIDEO TO MAKE ME BY PROPERTY IN KANSAS!
Mythbusters did a lot of work on this. One episode did the blood thing and put blood in front of a shark's nose with little response. However, when they did the same with fish blood, the sharks went nuts.
I wouldn't say that. I highly doubt that it was on any of the producers minds to demonise sharks. Their intentions would have been to make sure we're all not a bunch of ignorant, brainless gits.
but they have been given a reputation, an underserving one. It demonstrates the likelihood of being hurt by them by filming a crashed aircraft with sruggling survivors, this casts a negative mood.
Looks like a nike commercial for Jordan's.. "They can even scare sharks away."

actually there has been many cases where human limbs that have been ripped off by a shark were spit out and found later in the water.

@FSTOPDR When the shark eats the person it goes down as a "missing person" or drowning, not by shark because who would tell them.
