They really ARE Shhhh-koda!!! Never mind streetcars/trams, this really is the kind of "green" public transportation cities should be investing in again, IMHO
The Skodas (ETI) do have retrievers at the back of the coach. They're behind the rear panel and if somehow the rope gets stuck in the retriever, the operator doesn't have access to the back panel so he/she has to wait for the shop or the supervisor to open the panel to untangle the rope.
Of course, when the operator loses it's poles, he/she must put them back on the wires.
hmmmm now thats a very good question: i think it depends on the model . some trolley buses have fast acting retrievers if one of its trolleypoles comes off the wire it pulls it down imediately. but i do not kno about the skoda. i think the trolleypoles have some kinda of hydraulics to put themselves up again.
I agree with tbusuk from a month ago, love those FLYERS. The new ETB's are a welcome site in the Bay Area. Would be an awful thought if the trolleycoachs disappeared totally.
Nice footage! I was in SF just after the first few Skoda 40'-ers had been delivered and no 60' at that time. Therefore its great to see plenty of them running about. Still like the Flyers though!
Your wish has been granted. I studied up on how to get a better video product from Youtube, and posted a fresher version of the video. Since Youtube prohibits URLS in these posts, just look in the "More from This User" to find it.
Crystal clear ain't happenin on YouTube, but at least you don't feel like you're watching through a pair of glasses smeared with Vaseline! ;)
They are perfect for SF thanks to their superior performance in hill climbing. Diesels can never beat them when it comes to overcoming the real steep gradient ones!

Only if the video is of higher video quality. It will be great if it is available in HD =D

Nice video. I wished that the video quality is cleaner.
The ETI's are a bit noisy, but are more reliable than the old 40-foot flyers.
