  • Wow. What a neat video.

  • GREAT stuff!!! Thanks for sharing this great piece of history.

  • OMG! Thank you for sharing this. This is History Channel stuff!

  • the narrator sounds like Mr. Sullivan a student of Ed Parker

  • Free Gift to you for Happy Turkey Day from the US: Okay--let's say you've always heard about how great Bill Superfoot Wallace was. Problem--you never saw him fight OR you forgot how great he was. Go here to xwarrior.tv and click on Free Trailers and watch the legendary one in the build up to his live retirement fight on CBS--a AND, if you want to get a gift certificate for the entire 12 rounds of that fight, you can get it right there and email it as a gift within minutes :)

  • if u practiced kyokushin then all this is boring to look but i like the vid

  • hey, we belgians kicked ass xD

  • "Kick to the groin! Is that a point?"

Brought a smile to my face, how times have changed. Then again, there are few sports where that is allowed.

  • "the British team were blown away" what a knob! lol

  • benny thrown down like a rag doll! xD

  • great the good old days .w. geert lemmens micheal aerden .benny the Jet urg.thanks oss.and peace.bow.

  • While I am a proponent of MMA there is no mistaking the groundwork set by these badasses. Most traditional arts taught now are soft and afraid of liability and , quite honestly, are a joke. These guys were doing traditional Karate and there is no doubt they would wipe the floor with someone in a real fight. I wish we had more of this still.

  • This documentary is great :) love this kinda stuff on the martial arts

  • What year was exactly this tournament?

  • Great vid and attitude from the fighters

  • Is that Chuck Sullivan narrating?

  • Sure sounds like him to me!

  • thats awesome! they got smashed the night before and went to fight lol

  • I own this video. It's sick. I love it

  • I don't think the cameraman was REALLY looking at the Association logo when he filmed the girl in the T - Shirt (0:30 - 0:35) !!

  • had to watch it a few times, didnt even notice the logo myself?? lol

  • I was thinking the same thing! Hah

  • Close fight, very good fights as well. I loved some of the techniques in it.

  • Haisai all.

the talented fighetrs making the trip were Benny urquidez, John natividad, Ron Marchini, Darnell Garcia, and Tom Kelly than Ad Parker (kempo) and Steve Armstrong (Isshinryu), .

This is frome the book "Isshinryu Karate " by Steve Armstrong /page 101 till 108.

    DO-MU-GEN

  • Lemmens was the best!!! btw his full name is Geert Joseph Lemmens. He is one of my coaches in germany. ty for uploading this video :)

  • Where did this come from? Documantary? Film?

  • It's extract from a Elvis Presley financed documental about Us karate from 70 ties.

  • The video is on a documentary called New Gladiators, it's on DVD.

  • @mrgibson84 The film is called New Gladiators Karate Golden Era, There is a restored version. I think you can find it with Rising Sun Martial Arts company. I have it and its really cool to see how far we have come. They kind of repeat some scenes and not all of its Karate. Still good historic film now. Most these people now are really old, I met a few of them and they are great good guys! And Im only 24 years.

  • Do you have anymore of these films?? This was great!

  • who won?

  • The American team won.

  • do you have or knows anyone who has earlier fight footage of Joe Lewis???

  • Unfortunaly no, I have not Usa vs England.

  • Some of these techniques resemble Jimmy H. Woo's Kung fu San Soo. Didn't Ed Parker train Under Jimmy H. Woo for a bit? The powerfull shifting horse stances with knees to bent over face, and hammer blows to back of neck, and throat grabs with leg sweeps etc..thats San Soo. The movements with shoulder rotation on the strikes and and blocks are sansooish.

  • he did trained with jimmy woo. but Parkers moves are a compilation of training with many great people. American Kenpo is a complete system of movment and application, so parts of it look like like other martial arts. A Kenpoist can easyly mimick any other martial art, because that arts moves are part of the American Kenpo system

  • Ed Parker, founder of American Kenpo...Original MMA! Introdused, bruce Lee, Gracie Bjj, and many other fighting methods/teachers to the U.S.

  • Ed Parker did not Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. It was Chuck Norris, who endorced Brazilian Jiu-jitsu after being submitted by Rickson Gracie in their friendly sparring session.

  • Ed parker introduced the Gracies and bjj in the first mixed martial arts tournments in Long beach, "Longbeach International", where Mr. Gracie challenged anybody to fight. Parker asked him "does that include me?" Gracie chuckled and said "no". Parker introduced many great martial artists to the U.S.

  • Thank you for the input. I did not know anything about the Parker connection. But, by the way, which year of the International are you talking about?

  • i really don't know. the "internationals" lasted a long time, but i don't know wich particular year

  • who's the winner? Belgium or USA?

  • USA!

  • In this video you can see the difference between American and Belgian karate, the american is more flow and seem to me a kind of kickboxing ,the belgian is traditional. Its only an opinio!! Good video thanks

  • cool. Ed Parker later was coreographer at The Karate Kid and many other movies.

  • Ed Parker did not choreograph The Karate Kid. It was Pat Johnson, who also choreographed the Teeage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

  • swweeet benny urquidez footage!
