I have a MacBook Pro running Lion 10.7 and an iBook G4 running Tiger 10.4.11, and Tiger is the best O/S to run on a PowerPC based Mac. I like Leopard but It's just not PowerPC optimized. (I think Tiger is even a little faster than Lion)
@Lshs2013 I know that and that is a great advantage I'm just saying i think overall Windows Operating Systems are better than Mac OS's but it is close
@iaintalks I love macs, but I don't have that much money to buy one, even the cheapest one.
Steve Jobs presents his company products like nobody else there on the tech market, but nobody is perfect . I didn't tried to offend mac fans by my previous comment.
It's just that small "boom" ruined my overall imression...
PS: I definitely do not admire Steve Balmer or Linus Torvalds.
I have this running on an old iBook, there's just something fantastic about Tiger. It's still (mostly) modern, but it has that "classic OS X" look to it.
I think Tiger was the best OS X version. I have Snow Leopard now and I miss the blue color scheme and Tiger is simpler. If I could run it on my Intel Mini I might dual boot it. 2GB of RAM would be FAST!
@tutorialconr Not really copied, as Jobs says, MS had been talking about it for years so the idea was nothing new to them but they really messed it up. Their current "solution" is rendered frustratingly bad because of their primitive file system NTFS and the compromise to create indexes over searches is worthless, it's no better than a regular old crawl search. I really don't understand why MS are letting their WinFS project die, it should be their no. 1 priority!
@tutorialconr Actually,as in "Windows Future Storage". It's been in development for 10 years and was supposed to replace NTFS in Vista, and then everyone was hoping it would be in Win 7, but MS seems to think they have better things to do, and I can't understand why, imo, WinFS is a much needed improvement to Windows.
@MLennholm Yeah , Windows is rather inferior right now if you compare it with mac in you know , Innovative stuff. Microsoft is somewhat like IBM now :\
In my opinion, Mac OS X Tiger is still Apple's best OS to date -- it's so fast and rock-solid, I so loved using it! (Can't use it any longer because I sold my old mac..)
Snow Leopard is a good operating system (as was Leopard), but there is something about Tiger that I really like -- can't say what though... It might just be the fact that Tiger was the first Mac OS I used.
mm, maybe because tiger can change theme easier because it has an apps from unsanity call shapeshifter, and because for me, the booting time is faster?
No, it came much earlear when Snow Leopard. You can see it's in the Tiger. But in Tiger and Leopard it's universal (you can use 32 and 64 bits applications) (In Windows for example you can use only one type of programs).
Snow Leopard is 64 bits, so the are focusing for maximum usage of what in new OS. (correnct me if I am wrong)
Correct me if I am wrong but as far as I know, Snow Leopard boots into 32 bit kernel by default so it is not "fully" 64 bit. However, It does run 64 bit apps natively.
To get the "full" 64 bit support you need to have one of the supported systems which can manually boot into 64 bit kernel.

Because Tiger doesn't have the necessary drivers to work properly on a new mac.

@goddesfreackz Does that opinion still stand with Snow Leopard out now?

Snow Leopard is a good operating system (as was Leopard), but there is something about Tiger that I really like -- can't say what though... It might just be the fact that Tiger was the first Mac OS I used.

Maybe because everything up until Tiger sucked, lol. Really though, 10.0, 10.1, 10.2 and 10.3 were all horribly buggy, at least when I used them.
