However there are Americans who are more informed of the world and the importance of eating healthy than the Long family, I don't think it's unreasonable for people of other nationalities to view Americans as being much like them. Minus the "posh", "English" music, and the mixed, biased cuts, this family actually has a strong sense of purpose, and want to make a difference -- which, unless I'm mistaken, is a good quality to have.
Alternate title: Snobs vs. Slobs. In fairness, I think both are poor representations of their "sets." I grew up a coastal elitist and fell in love with an Ohio farm-boy...and I personally think that having an advanced degree does not exempt me from cleaning toilets.

I think it's a good thing to push your kids to be the best that they can be...but you've got to remember that they are kids. They need to play, be silly, and develop socially as well as intellectually in order to function in society outside of what Stephen refers to as 'their set'. I have no doubt that these kids will get into the best college, but when they are released from the confines of this family unit and are exposed to music, alcohol, drugs and sex, I can see them getting into trouble.

I think it's a good thing to push your kids to be the best that they can be...but you've got to remember that they are kids. They need to play, be silly, and develop socially as well as intellectually in order to function in society outside of what Stephen refers to as 'their set'. I have no doubt that these kids will get into the best college, but when they are released from the confines of this family unit and are exposed to music, alcohol, drugs and sex, I can see them getting into trouble.

@OptimusProwlGirl I don't think it's an acquired taste, i really like it the first time I tried it. In Sydney you can pick it up in almost any shopping center food court so it's not really an up-market food anymore (if it ever was). I rightly recommend it, it's nice and healthy. Try it :D
