Here my question, you say you don't want the heavy stuff on your hips. The next video will tell you to have the Heavy stuff there. Okay, I have heard low, middle and high in the pack. Can someone tell me without a doubt where the heavy items go. I place them about a quarter way up in my pack. Thanks for the help
@DennyRec u want the weight to carry into your hips and not all on your shoulders, so it depends if u have external or internal frame pack. For externals, you want the weight to sit low. Internal frame packs are made to hug the body more. so you want to place the heaviest items in an internal frame pack close to the middle of your back next to your body
@Southsideskim thats the worst mistake you can make having heavy items at the bottom pulls your back down causing strain on your muscles and can cause serious injuries if on long hikes i know form personal experience while climbing mt snowdon in wales the heavy items MUST go on the top
and here I've been throwing everything in a military duffle willy nilly and hiking until I'm very tired...pitch the tent...drink bourbon....sleep like a baby...start the fire...make coffee...then walk some more. Does hiking need all this analysis? Nothing against the video in general but honestly I'm waiting for expert village to tell me how to raise my hand...
@jhof989620 I bet you've never raised a hand in your life. Bet you just say the first thing that comes in to your head, right?
At least you didn't rip that dude making the video. That was cool. And yeah man...hiking sometimes does need analysis. A lot of stories of people going down because they didn't analyze certain things.
Dig drinking your bourbon in nature dude. Not quite sure why you'd want to though. Maybe some analysis is in order.
weight has nothing to do with how u pack ur bag, u pack it from importance/how useful the item is on a daily basis. clothes in the bottom, tool on the side/front pockets and food on top. and ur water (nalgene bottle) strapped on the straps for easy access.
retards you have all probably never gone camping you make the pack topheavy because you will fall backwards when you hike if the weight is toward the bottom
@mtbwarrior heavy weight at the top gives you an increased range of movement, heavy weight at the bottom gives increased stability, personally i pack heavy equipment closed to my spine as it gives a very good centre of gravity.
Lol, this video is completely wrong. You want the heavier items low and closer to your back. The lighter items go at the top and on the outside of the pack. Also, most of the load should be carried on the hip belt, the shoulders are more for keeping the pack upright and stable.
He later goes on to say that you don't want the weight on your waist or up high in the pack so I think he just fumbled his words when he said to pack the weight up high at first.
Think of a triangle on your back. Keep everything heavy low and closest to your back. Keep it below the shoulder blades and try not to put anything too heavy away from your center of gravity. This video is very wrong. Lol.
And why on Gods green earth would anyone think of putting heavey stuff at the top....logic tells you that heavey goods will sqush lighter things at bottom. Export Village...you truely are compleat rubbish. I HATE YOU. EVERY VEDIO you do is crap
attention do not listen to this video it is wrong!!!
yea i was thinking exactly the same thing someone needs to start a decent group with all the decent video makers in with the likes of nutnfancy or culeryfancier (spellings*?) oh weel the hunt is on!

You're kidding, right? Heavy stuff on TOP? Have you ever crossed a river with a top heavy pack?
Heavy stuff goes against your back, low or near the middle of the pack depending on your center of gravity.
