"The first large-scale immigration into England from the Caribbean began in 1948. The very first boat that left Jamaica on Empire Day, May 24 was the SS Windrush, and Lord Kitchener was on it. There is a famous piece of newsreel footage which features him singing "London Is the Place For Me" on the dockside at Tilbury as the line of immigrants, all dressed in their Sunday best, disembark."
This video is not well titled. Firstly the film footage of lord kitchener has historical value as it represents much needed immigrnats coming to "The mother country" and therefore the economic re-building of Britain durin the early post war years.
