Do what he shows and force the audio from the mic array, except select to force it through the speakers in that drop down menu.
Then go into the IDT audio settings control panel and on the right right click the little picture of the headphone jack that is malfunctioning (mine had a little yellow question mark on it), now click to have it play through the speakers. My audio started working the instant i clicked that, the mic played through, this is after days of nada
I had this problem. Dell tech came to house and said they had to replace my hard drive. I refused and told them they HAD to fix it without replacing hard drive and that it could be fixed because the headphones worked, so it had to be a short somewhere. I told him to fix it and he did.
to fix the sound.. just uninstall all of the sound devices deleteing the device driver software from device manager... then run IDT audio setup... ur sound will be fixed....
Thank you!!!! Dell replaced my new motherboard (for another problem) with a refurbished motherboard. The best part is that they refused to guarantee this "new" part for a year. I just now experienced the headphone jack issue on the refurbished motherboard and after dealing with "Dell Support", I will never buy a Dell again. In the meantime, you have fixed my problem. Thank you!!!!
My dell was having this problem as well. I've downloaded the driver and still nothing. I'll try this and see what happens. I had many other issues that have been solved by Windows Service pack two. Since installing a new hard drive my computer has been a PITA! (pain in the a)
Worked perfectly and now speakers work
