Pretty sure a 500 ci BBC making well over 2 hp per cubic inch with no power adds is a masterpiece of an engine.  takes thousands of hours of research and development to do that. an engine in a pro stock car is about $100k. dont get me wrong, a rotory engine (4 rotor 787B) is a nice piece of work but think about what you say first.

a Dyno test tell's you how the motor is running, how much power your makin, and at what rpm. The tranny has nothing to do with that. It's common knowledge that manual trans turn easier then auto's. Thats why they get better gas mileage on the road. Also think the power band on a pro stock is a small rpm range and very high (8000+). Do you really think 2 gears can keep the motor inside the powerband and keep the car accelerating as much as possible? Trust me, there is a reason they use 5-speeds
