A person's sexuality is not decided nor can it be decided by that person. Sexuality is genetic but not concerning the sexuality of the parent. If someone is Gay, Straight or Bi-sexual it is because they are born that way. The parents sexuality has nothing to do with it, it is completely random. Peace

Hey Root!!!! I really enjoy your videos and I am in fact Catholic. I have been raised Catholic my whole life and I have never understood the whole thing about how homosexuals are evil. Actually, my best friend once said to me that people who are homosexual have something wrong with there mind and that they are bad. My HUGE problem with this is that God is supposed to have a plan for everyone and if homosexuality is so evil why would it exist? Any thoughts? And I have no problem with homosexuals.
@erksonful Most Christians view Homosexuality as a choice. But as I've pointed out, I was strait, I never decided to be strait, I was born strait. Most Christians believe that Homosexuals are choosing a life a of sin over what they view as a life of following Christ. There are problems with that, because following Christ is subjective because everybody does it in their own way, they condem me, for asking questions, yet nobody answers me.

When my parents got divorced I was 11 years old and I went out in the rain and said I wouldn't come in til they got back together.

@rootsays The verse on shaving you quoted contains a the phrase "... for the dead..." which is in relation to the common practice at that time of shaving parts of the head in a certain way or tattooing the body in relation to mourning rituals. The use of any single verse to simply prove any point you are trying to make without the context takes away from what the Bible is actually trying to say.

She lived with a Christian family the mother of the family said, that we are going to hell because we had tattoos (ironically Christian Tattoos). Root, I would like to thank you for taking the time to be involved in this issue for the betterment of gay civil rights. When I was 17 California granted same sex marriage. I thought "woah, maybe there's a chance!" And then they took it away, and I became jaded. Now I feel like Sisyphus in an eternal struggle against insurmountable loads of indoctrinated hate-filled hearts. But like Sisyphus I won't give up. I am glad that there are so many allies to help push the bolder.

nobody's forcing gays to deny their attractions or raiding gay marriages in churches. gays can freely express their feelings of love in a church and get all the benefits that come with marriage through civil unions down the future. however, as soon as you step outside the private realm of RELIGIOUS marriage and enter into the public sphere of CIVIL marriage, you are subject to the law and public opinion or vote because civil marriage is about public policy.

Religion is one of those things that always gets me, because no matter how rational a point I make to those trying to force it upon me, the idea of God existing cannot be proven or dis-proven so the argument never ends!

@hegneyc I like how in our first interaction you call me a fool, you don't make any counter arguments. You just say that I look like fool because I use verses to make my point. Every preacher I know uses verses to make their point. Verses from here and verses from there.

@rootsays The verse on shaving you quoted contains a the phrase "... for the dead..." which is in relation to the common practice at that time of shaving parts of the head in a certain way or tattooing the body in relation to mourning rituals. The use of any single verse to simply prove any point you are trying to make without the context takes away from what the Bible is actually trying to say.

@hegneyc I was in Costa Rica (1994), my friend was dating a Christian girl who was studying there. She lived with a Christian family the mother of the family said, that we are going to hell because we had tattoos (ironically Christian Tattoos). I have a bachelors and a masters degree in Theology (many years of Bible School). So, you calling me a fool is nothing new to me. It's what I've come to expect, I appreciate your apology but I feel your original comment was from the heart.

@rootsays My only issue with your usage of text from the Bible and taking it out of context like you did could potentially put a "stumbling block" before non-believers giving them the the idea that the Bible is just a book of silly dos and don'ts. I don't agree with the comments made by that mother of that family. Judging who is going to hell and who isn't doesn't fall on us, that will be the Lord's duty when our lives are examined.

In the Philippines divorce is illegal. Go there. The people are nice.
If there is such physical abuse, people there can separate. And some men take another girlfriend, or the woman another boyfriend, but they can never marry that person. They are allowed one marriage only, as stated in the Bible.
I believe tattoos should be protested against too then.
Jesus whipped the lying money changers because they were dealing money on unbalanced scales in the temple/church. He was very angry that day.

It's sad that you feel that way about tattoos, you might want to reread the bible, there is a mark on the believer as well as the mark of the beast.

Great video! As someone who was raised Jewish, but raised in the south, so needless to say the older I get the more religion scares the hell outta me! Most christians don't get the laws and verses that they love to say are from the old testament, which was meant to SCARE people. To quote Lewis Black "That's because we know what we're good at, and what we're really good at is bullshit."
I just think for them that an evolution of IDEAS needs to happen. OH. wait, they don't believe in evolution...

I live in one of the few states where something is getting done, but still at my faculty most of the teachers are really old, my civil rights teacher is the one that made some of the state civil laws, so, he's constantly telling us how wrong society is for allowing two guys to get married, and I AM the only gay guy at my class, I had to speak up, he kicked me out of class for arguing with him... oh well...

Root, I would like to thank you for taking the time to be involved in this issue for the betterment of gay civil rights. When I was 17 California granted same sex marriage. I thought "woah, maybe there's a chance!" And then they took it away, and I became jaded. Now I feel like Sisyphus in an eternal struggle against insurmountable loads of indoctrinated hate-filled hearts. But like Sisyphus I won't give up. I am glad that there are so many allies to help push the bolder.

nobody's forcing gays to deny their attractions or raiding gay marriages in churches. gays can freely express their feelings of love in a church and get all the benefits that come with marriage through civil unions down the future. however, as soon as you step outside the private realm of RELIGIOUS marriage and enter into the public sphere of CIVIL marriage, you are subject to the law and public opinion or vote because civil marriage is about public policy.

This was better than Sunday School. I believe in God. I also believe that the bible has been messed with by mistakes in intranslation or on purpose. (Google King James) I also have prolems with a book that gives directions for getting slaves & okays killing your disobedient children. Religion is one of those things that always gets me, because no matter how rational a point I make to those trying to force it upon me, the idea of God existing cannot be proven or dis-proven so the argument never ends!
And my fiancé is writing a book on religion and the way the "good book" is interpreted or translated incorrectly, should be a good read when it's done :D

It is my understanding in science that proof lies in the positive claim. If I say that that I believe the moon is made of cheese then i must show evidence for my claim. @zyfultion They're are several challenges I have with your comment. First, allowing adds helps me to make money. The very small amount of money I make from those adds allows me to continue posting videos. It allows me to offset the cost of making videos and all that goes into them. Video camera, editing equipment, photo editing software, lighting, et al. Copyright infringement has always been a big deal, that's why as a Partner, I'm held to a higher standard.... I agree with everything you just said, and I am a follower of Christ. Today's morality police are a collection of babbling morons who have no real knowledge of the God they are forcing on people. The whole marriage institution is a flaw. Government should oversee the contractual civil union of 2 parties with no religious voice in the equation.
