  • viv averaged 40 against pakistan and 44 against aussie and nearly 60 and 55 against England india and England why? and man pitches were slower than toay back then. but they were uneven so that balances things out.

an btw everyone wears helmets these days. so what's your point? human race has become cowardly, less skilled in general?

viv is one of the greatest modern batsman. in my books h stands alongsie lara and tendulkar as the best. but he is not undauntedly the best ever.

  • @shr011104 viv destroyes aussie bowlers in WSC aussie leg. but did you know he average 33 with a highest of 62 in 9 complete innings in the windies leg? why? because thommo wins court case to come in the packer squad? or that in the aussie leg non test grounds were used which were sometime tiny primarily for footie? or that dennis was a line and length bowler by the time.

  • Agreed. Viv is on a different plane altogether. Better bowling attacks, who were kept fresher, no bouncer restrictions, slowish outfields and largely helpful picthes for seamers and bats much superior these days....Sachin would have been a fraction of a batsman that he is in this era of batting-friendly rules environment. Viv was something else!!

  • @141cbc look at the youtube videos pitches were not that fast those days. english pitches actually look barren.

and somehow bowlers, batsmen have all declined in quality? maybe next you will claim the ford t- moel was the best they ever built

  • @sanjay49700 seems like you just have been following cricket where patta wicket...so-called highways are the name of the game....refer to 80s when..

    seaming pitches

    no carpet outfields

    no mega bats

not so much cricket - therefore, bowlers much fresher and powerful

    no bouncer-restriction rules

    no Zimbabwe or Bangladesh

and for Viv, he did not need a helmet either to pulverise and dominate attacks...

  • Well, DONT castigate all Indian fans are morons. Agree Sachin is one of the best, but NEVER in the league of Sir Viv. He had the GUTS to play the fastest of all, Thommo & Lilliee, WITHOUT a helmet in those days, where NO bouncer rule was there. The game is so much favoring batsmen today that many, many Sachins are due to come, but NOT one Viv. Long Live King Richards.

  • Whats with all the moronic Indians coming on here talking about Sachin Tendulkar?! If you want to circle jerk each other over him, go watch another video of him and rid us of your stupidity. Oh, and Viv.... you are the man! Respect from Australia!

  • Sachin is a great batsman BUT never has & never will have, the balls to play like sir viv did !! ..

  • richard is btr than sachin see average of sachin in 90s wen bowling was good ........aftr 2000 every batsman hv avg more than 50 it doesnt mean they r equal to richards

  • Why are idiots arguing on this video? Just enjoy the Master's strokeplay and move on.

  • He doesn't know how to play

    LOCAL BATSMAN

    FATTU

  • The King Sir Viv Richards is beyond comparisons...

  • tendulkar is great but not fit to carry viv richards slazenger v600 cricket bat. i told you all tendulkar plays on flat indian wickets. there is no doubt of his records they speak for themselves. Tell me murali has 700 wickets, marciano 49 fights undefeated, attapatu most double or trple centuries, does that mean they are the best??? NO. RICHARDS IS THE ONLY BATSMEN IN HISTORY WHO USED TO INTIMIDATE THE BOWLERS JUST WALKING TO THE CREASE.

  • @yahudidushman maa chod i dont care if u play in u r bradford league or sunday league sachin is far far better than viv richards pakis are jealous fuckers who always hate indians cz u know u can never produce a player like sachin i dont care if u met him or u dont but his records speak for himself go drink camel piss paki fucker.

  • @yahudidushman i know pakis dont have any batting legends thats y they have 2 praise richards against sachin what next brian lara is better than sachin all these r bull shit comments first ask u r team 2 produce a tendulkar until then shut the fuck up.

  • @yahudidushman when sachin scores its flat tracks easy outfield blah blah when other batsmen scores its all pure class intimidation or what ever sachin so many times smashed so called best bowlers to all over the park.

  • @yahudidushman You shouldn't have mentioned Sachin there, man. Both Karnawarrior and you are behaving like school-kids. It's pointless comparing across generations, so just enjoy Richards' brilliant exhibition and GTFO.

  • this guy way out in front and scored so many runs under pressure to win matches. maybe lara is the exception to him. tendulkar plays on flat crappy tracks and scores his hundreds batting first. look at his hundreds and tell me how many has he won the match. this guy faced lillee, thompson, imran, wasim, botham and had this awe about him gladiator style.

  • @yahudidushman bhenchod dont compare sachin with richards sachin achieved what viv didnt achieve in cricket arena flat tracks my ass he scores most runs against australia a strong team go check his records first then speak 1.5 billion and world wide pressure on sachin is not a joke yes richards might be sachin,s idol but sachin is the king of cricket.

  • @Karnawarrior GET a life and wash your mouth with the piss from your cows and then chat like an adult. ask the majority of EXPERTS AND NOT COW URINE DRINKING INDIANS. i USED TO PLAY WITH VINOD KAMBLI IN THE BRADFORD CRICKET LEAGUE AND HAVE MET SACHIN, GREAT RESPECTFUL BLOKE ON AND OFF THE FIELD.

  • @yahudidushman even richards said he is king of cricket but sachin is god of cricket u r richards and u r whole paki players are not gud enuff 2 clean sachin shoes and u know what all flat tracks all those r sour grapes comments come on show me a player 20 years of cricket still going as solid as rock he plays all strokes so well even the commentators get struck by his batting.

  • @yahudidushman u remember 175 against aus u remember twin centuries against aus in sharjah u remember 98 off 75 balls against strong bowling pak attack in 2003 wc sachin crossed 150 mark over 5 times u remember that 200* vs saffers what a majestic innings it was flat crappy tracks my ass no other team will or can produce another tendulkar.

  • @yahudidushman 47 test centuries 46 test centuries youngest player to score century on fastest ground called perth in aus against strong attack highest run getter in tests and odis most man of the matches awards in odis is there any other player eng pak nz sl aus wi pick any team but u wont find player like tendulkar.

  • @Karnawarrior Listen, both you and yahudidushman need to STFU. Richards is a great player and so is Tendulkar. More importantly, they are both men of honour and wouldn't argue like you two retarded cunts are doing on YouTube. If you are a Sachin fan, let me tell you that the little Master wouldn't be pleased seeing the kind of language you've used against Richards.

  • @Imrankniazi tendulkar is better player than richards even recently viv said sachin is the best batsman of all time he said this when sachin crossed 14 000 runs in test cricket sach scored more than 150s five times richards only scored 189 once that too in 60 overs.

  • @Karnawarrior Dude, I'm not going to be pulled into this debate. Just enjoy the video and buzz off, mate. I'm sick and tired of Sachin's and Viv's videos being ruined by retarded cunts who are not worth polishing either man's shoes.

  • thommo said the only batsmen to ever hook him out of the middle of the bat was viv

  • the gretest eye of any batsmen ever rodney hogg said he didnt have a great range of shots but could hit anything and he took on lillie thompson botham imran khan with no helmet on uneven wickets not the flat track even bounce wickets guys play on today the only current batsmen i rate for entertainment and ability to destroy attacks is gilchrist and maybe sehwag

  • the only real comparison between Richards, Ponting, Lara and Tendulkar is they are all attacking batsmen apart from that their all quite different so it's hard to say one is better than the others.

  • Texaco Cup 1984, Old Trafford, WI 99-7. IVA Richards proceeds to play the best one day innings I've ever seen, 189*, never surpassed in my view. Viv was the Masterblaster all right!

  • The Chatrapathi of Cricket

  • The trouble is a lot of viewers today, have no recollection of his genius. They are brought up on Tendalker, Lara, Waugh, Ponting and Kallis. None of whom is in his class.

  • Absolutely amazing...the best...but remove Tendulkar and Lara from your list and you would be right...those two they are in his class...I think Viv would agree with me, but us as fans have different opinions.

  • Agreed. You make perfect sense. As fan's we are affected by nostalga and nationalism, which sometimes blurs one judgement!!! But you will agree that Viv was the most distructive of the lot, and with a swagger!!

  • Players have diff opinions from fans. Richi benaud, richard hadlee said that tendulkar was the best. Then again tendulkar said viv richards was his fav player growing up. So fans and players opinions differ too.

  • The Chappells, Imran, Shastri, Srikanth, Akram, Pringle, Tony Greig, Martin Crowe, Gilchrist etc have said that Viv was the best since Bradman at least. You totally overlook that playing on uncovered pitches without even a helmet and no rules to protect batsmen against the superfast bowlers of the 70s and 80s made batting way more difficult in the 70s/80s than in the 90s and this decade. T'kar can only dream of achieving Viv's Packer Series level and his 189* vs Eng or his 153* vs Aus in ODIs.

  • Agree with you totally!! i think is underrated, based on the superlatives that is flying around these days. People also forget that VIV lost two of his best years during the Packer series when the standard was extremely high and so was his average.

  • i agree mate, tendulkar, lara are not his league at all. he was a BREED apart along wid sir don. lille, thomo, botham, dev, hadlee, imran and u name it, this guy has literally, massacred them. viv wud have been a masterpiece in modern day cricket. but i wud never rate him HIGHER than sir garfield roberts and alvin kalicharan. they truly were the epitome of windies cricket.

  • Viv's 189 not out is easily the greatest innings ever! He just completely decimated bowling attacks. "The King" is the simply the best of all time.

  • 5:18 was the shot i have been searching youtube for ages

  • yep!

  • No one can or could have played like Viv. The batsman closest to Viv is Lara.

  • This man's batting was on another planet. Sir Viv completely destroyed bowling attacks like nobody else could. The 6 he hit off Mike Hendrick in the 79 world cup final is the most incredible shot I've ever seen - the guy was a total genius. I don't care what the stats say, no other batsman could play such an array of astonishing strokeplay. 'King Viv' is a very appropriate nickname!

  • whouster,

I absolutely agree with you!! His power, timing, bravery (no helmet) and sheer intimidating presence would have ruined the careers of the likes of McGrath, and company.

  • What a great long hot summer that was in England in 76, as you can see from the parched grass. And what a sensational series Viv had. There was a majestic aura about him to go with his devastating batting.
