On my third playthrough of Okami (after beating Okamiden) I noticed an upside down moon on Kaguya's spaceship which you find out in Okamiden is the symbol of the Moon Tribe, so that means Kaguya must be from the Moon Tribe o.o

The music in this game reminds me of the best times in my life, the ones I most likely to never re-live. Thsi game makes me feel so happy, even at the worst of times. This is the best game I've ever played, this is so unique compared to most. Okami brings back the best memories. ;D I'll always remember the first tiem I ever got this, and the time playing it.

Sorry to write a huge comment. Just saying how this game touches everyone.

Kaguya went to the moon... have you ever heard the tale of TsukiHime?

A princess from the Lunar Capital (The Moon) crash landed long ago. She was raised by a bamboo cutter who warmly took her in as his own daughter... and, after some time, finally found a way to get back to the moon... it is very possible that she knew Waka. They are both from the moon tribem, Kaguya being the lunar princess.

I don't think Kaguya knows Waka, because she was found by the bamboo cutter as an infant, in that spaceship. What saddens me about her departure is that she may be alone when she arrives on the moon. For all we know, the rest of the tribe died guarding the Ark of Yamato since the monsters boarded it, save for Waka.

@CelestialStarDust If you play the entirety of the game, keep in mind the fact that Waka is part of the Moon Tribe and do just a teensy bit of research on Kaguya, you learn she is princess of that tribe. So yes, they probably knew eachother.

Kaguya's story in the game is much the same as the actual Japanese folktale. Look up "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter" on Wikipedia or Google it.

Yup, you're right, actually Okami was based in lots of japanese of folktales, besides Kaguya's theres "The sparrow of cut tongue" (sounds familiar, uh?), Orochi along with Susano-o and Kushinada is another one, the mirrors you find through the game makes part of Amaterasu's story itself, the celestial brush gods (the "Gamis") are the oriental (chinese) signs, and so it goes. There are lots of them, some are hard to identify because are very hidden.
