you can go to the past but can't go through the hole (whole body can't go through but you can stick your hand in) if you do you can't see the pen no more but can grab things from the past and stick things there

Actually, you only get "disqualified" from using the pen if your whole body passes through, which is actually possible, or else the game wouldn't work out (Ethan's parent's wouldn't have disappeared, they would've died in the fire). If your body passes through the Hole when you DON'T wield the pen, you won't be frozen in Time any time the pens are used, you'll see the same flashbacks as the wielders, AND you'll be immortal, age-wise, though you can still be murdered.

I played phoenix wright too, but somehow this game's a LOT better. I think it may be the storyline, but this is a must play.
