This is a timeless masterpiece...i never get tired of watching it... Every time i think in Oyama's life and his commitment which made posible the creation of Kyokushin i believe nothing's impossible
The manga was based off of Mas Oyama. Mas Oyama is a native born Korean, but resides in Japan. He Korean name is Choi Bae-dal, but he was living in Japan so he got himself a Japanese name.
Nah. Baedal IS from Korea. He joined the Japanese Air Force Kamikaze squadron, only to be booted out and shamed for his ancestry. He then trains his ass off...
Thats not the story I have read. He had a friend who had talked about a man who did the 100 man throw (judo legend) and oyama got inspired. To prove that it was possible to fight 100 men (one at the time) he fought 300 men over 3 days. Only 16 over the past 50 years have done the 100 man kumite and I have met the first one doing 100 man fight without a days break. His name is Howard Collins and he was the first one from another country to train for mas. Oyama
Its about Masutatsu Oyama the founder of kyokushin karate. To prove and spread his karate he made a tour to america and wrestled bulls and fought opponents. He met 250 fighters in america in both wrestling and fighting and won all. He gained the nickname Godhand cuz you couldnt block the punches he threw without breaking your arm. You couldnt dodge cuz the punches were to fast and you couldn wrestle the man who could wrestle a bull.
Choi is first name of Oyama Masutatsu's Korean name. He died 13 years ago. Because it is a movie, some fictional parts also exist. However, he is legend.
Oyama learned his karate in japan, he started with shotokan and later switched and got his advanced training in Goju ryu. He also did judo and Daitoryu aikibujutsu side by side with karate for a long time. He also did boxing for a short while before starting karate.
Oyama was born in korea, by korean parrents, but his art was founded in japan, based on japanese styles. There are nothing korean about kyokushin.
are you dumb? before he started to develop Kyokushin karate he trained shotokan karate, and lots of diffrent japanese martial arts before that, Kyokushin have its roots from those japanese styles so even if hes Korean, his style is japanese. he got trained by japanese before. so his style is japanese and is developed in japan. so japan DO have what you call the "best form of martial art". thats my point of wiew.
i noticed in the movie when they'd showed the master running away from the japanese he was doing taekkyun and when he was teaching choi bae-dal he was doing couple taekkyun moves, mixed in with karate or taekwondo (probably not taekwondo because during this time taekwondo was just getting started in korea so the korean in japan didn't know about taekwondo this time period).

you gotta understand asian hertiage or culture. If you call the asian person the wrong race or say he's half when not. They take offense of that. So yeah...becareful next time. (^.^)
he was supposed to be the main character.. but the directore ended up cancelling the contract and instead offered it to yang dong geun.. or so i heard..

Youtube is worldwide. If you can converse and type in well-rounded Japanese, finding one shouldn't be too hard. :)

Oyama died of lung cancer.
And, he could not beat anyone. But he was still the greatest.
While living at the mountains, he killed 47 bulls.
4 of them instantly.
