well sure the music itself has no relation to sexuality, but the lyrics definitely do. look at the lyrics for this song. they could just as easily be about a guy as about a girl. if youre straight, and have always felt a relation to this song, it can be a shock to learn that they were written by someone who doesnt share your sexual preference. im not trying to justify it, it's still homophobia, but that's the explanation i see.

the way this song build and builds in rhythm and pitch of the instruments and vioce is extroadinary.. the drums get slightly faster while the guitars get slights louder so much so u cant even hear the keyboard in the background when it reaches the second chorus.. ERPIC SONG.. REALLY TUGS ON THE HEARTSTRINGS, if u can relate it to an own personal experience of love

That is one of the things I find so amazing about Bloc Party.  They are able to write music that everyone can relate to. Whether you're a guy thinking about a girl or a guy thinking about a guy, it doesn't make a difference because it's written with enough ambiguity to let your imagination flow while guiding your feelings in a specific direction. It's not weird to have that reminder, just an outcome from incredible music written and composed so superbly.

@DarkMage530 Absolutely! Couldn't agree more. I've tried understanding some of the more complicated Bloc Party lyrics and I don't get the message that's passed across, but then I just give it my own interpretation and it suddenly makes more sense. You can tell the lyrics aren't meant to be simple to understand and a lot of it is personal with some of the verses but I'm sure the band loves how everyone can find their own understanding in the lyrics.

There is no one called Blake. He is talking about the English poet William Blake. To this day, no one for sure knows where Blake's grave is, as records showing its location have been destroyed.

That aside, I can firmly say that this is bloc Party's finest song. If Intimacy ends up being their last album, I'll obviously cry really hard, but also love the fact that Ion Square was the last song on their last album
