  • thxs for posting,i had followed the subhumans(uk),didn't know of the canadian subhumans till i went looking on itunes, discovered theres another subhumans, lol. Why didn't i hear of these guys back then. Hey i saw that jello comment, check out 'What Would Jello Do' on youtube,on the alternativetentacles channel. Love and peace from sydney, australia:)

  • so..... there was 2 bands called the subhumans around the same time in punk????

    confusing!

  • Do your research and you'll find out why Wimpy Roy ended up playing with DOA. It wouldn't have mattered if they were US or British from what happened. IMHO, these guys were one of the best band I ever saw. They are fast and tight during their changes, which shows how in tune they were as musicians......if only they could've kept going throughout the 80's.... they would have been huge.

  • Still have my Incorrect Thoughts cassette tape!

  • Can you imagine how HUGE the Subs' would have been if they were American or British?

  • oh my fucking God!

    wow!!!!!

    priceless!

  • I'd never presume to say who was the best in Van from that era. There were alot of great bands, and there were a few who I thought sucked balls. But, who the fuck am I to judge! Hierarchies are for suckers.

I will say this - invariably, I had more fun at Subhumans' shows. The energy was palpable.

Great post. Thanks for putting it up.

  • Every band in Seattle has been trying to cop this for the last 10 years.

  • gerry usless rules

  • Thanks for posting this. Great stuff!

  • God damn they were good!

  • finally some classic subhumans!!!!.they were in my opinion the best vancouver punk band, not to say doa weren't good too,but the subhumans were really special.wow soundproof was such a great show for showcasing the local alt. bands.

vancouver punk and new wave bands of the late 70's were so much more authentic than the toronto bands of the same era.hope to see more subhumans!!!!

  • Wonderful! Thanks so much for posting. Y'know how The Subhumans are often victims of ill-informed youtube mockery ('they ripped-off DOA', 'this ain't the Sub/Hum/Ans', etc., etc)... anyone ever wondered how much this classic may have 'influenced' the riff for "Holiday in Cambodia"?

  • @thechriswheelie Jello Biafra was (is) a huge Subhumans fan.

  • OH Canaduh!! So fucking rare.I wish there was more Subs videos..Dimwit was a monster!!

  • Wow. Hard core punk. Ahead of its time for 1978. Ancestral to later punk, grunge, even a little thrashcore style in the way the bass and guitar repeat the same riff most of the song.

Of course, they'd heard the Sex Pistols, who formed in 1975 and released their single "Anarchy in the UK" in 1976. There's a lot of imitation, of that, in musical style, vocal style, and being political in lyrics. Listeners were expected to understand this was a Canadian take on that style.

  • BRILLIANT!!! Wow, this shit takes me WAY back!!!

  • GREAT SONG! Keep 'em coming man! I love this shit.
