  • Wow. I won't say it's an improvement on the original but it's very good. Thanx for putting this up.

  • Was never a crazy Beatles fan but the Fab Faux changed that. They are marvelous in concert. Don't miss them if they are in your town. Looking for another weekend at the Arizona Biltmore on Labor Day Weekend (2 yrs in a row now) . I'm hoping this is an annual event.

  • Great!

  • goo goo g'joob- big LIKE - they're playing the Paramount in Peekskill in May - yay!

  • I want to model my Pink Floyd tribute band after these guys)

  • For sure, I'm no chicken... but I do love The Eggman, The Walrus... and life's magical mystery....

  • If you EVER have a chance to see these guys... do it.

I saw them in Hollywood ayt the H.O.B. and they played the whole White Album including #9.... It was a hell of an evening.

  • Fantastic

  • OUTSTANDING! Like other posters, I was skeptical when I saw this listed. I thought, 'oh here comes another lame attempt at a complicated song'. But they nailed it!

  • Fantastic, Read all the posts, If you ever hear interviews from Will or JImmy, They play it note for note, INCLUDING the mistakes that are on the Beatles albums, Its the Music,,Not impersonaters, If want to hear impersonantors, Look up Rich Little, Or Kevin Pollock, They Do impersonations..These guys are doind the ultimate tribute, Playing Music,Id rather listen to this than some guy from Pittsburgh Imitating a british accent and giving a web sit add , And they are on Dave, Time limit on length

  • Goddamn I love Jimmy vivino

  • Wow. This is great! I didn't expect much out of this. In fact, I cringed at the name, "The Fab Faux". Sounded a bit disrespectful. But no, this is fantastic!

  • this is actually a really good cover i'm surprised

  • How can you not like this?

  • Certainly isn't a cover it's worse. He can't come close to hitting the high notes like Lennon and he has a lisp. Of course todays kids think this crap is great. Thats why the name should be changed to NoobTube. YT please create a YT for adults.

  • @crookhunter a comment like this can only come from someone who hasn't seen them live.

google "The Fab Faux Fan Reviews - Ticketmaster" if you want to read reviews from people who have.

  • @crookhunter There are so many ridiculous thing about that comment (aside from the fact that it's the most childish thing posted here), I don't even know where to begin. But I'd remind any haters that The Beatles didn't really even do this song live, so you really can't compare it to their produced studio version. Also, I'd love if you could provide everybody with proof that you can sing and simultaneously play the drums on this song better than he did.

  • @crookhunter

    you're a real IDIOT!!

  • I'm surprised Paul hasn't got together with them to do a tour!

  • The FF specialize in playing songs the Beatles never performed live. Saw them at Berklee few years ago. They did the entire Sgt Pepper album as well as many other tunes, what a great night. Loved every moment of it.

  • Amazing!

  • oh, man --SUCH a band --words ain't enough ---

  • i saw these guys in in consert, they are really good

  • That's your rock n roll!

  • ...I wonder how much these guys would charge for a party...hopefully less than what has been offered in the past to the real Beatles.

Although there are a handful of Beatle inspired bands here on YT, I have to say, that these guys gotta be ranking in the top 2 or 3 on YT and quite possibly the world. They are excellent !

  • @StarVoyager9 Pretty sure they wouldn't play parties. The members are either Big name producers, Will is the Bassist for David Letterman and Jimmy (Who is hidden here i guess due to competitive reasons) is the guitarist and leader of Conan O'Brian's band.

I've seen them twice so far and they blow away other Beatles cover bands. I'd say they are #1 and the Amazing Simulators are #2 (They have Marshall Crenshaw from the original Beatle Mania)

  • 2:55 HAHAHA yes, anyway this is awesome. i dont think ive ever heard a better rendition

  • Great rendition of a classic Beatles tune. I bet you that if John not been murdered, he would of done this live. By the way, the drummer looks like Topol the actor/singer who played the father in the movie Fiddler on the Roof.

  • beautifully done, I especially love the orchestra strings sounds

  • even the beatles never played this song live.. Nice Job Fab Faux!!

  • Excellent! Go Will! Nice Outfit!

  • This is great!

  • Honestly, if you don't like Rich Pagano, Jimmy Vivino and Will doing the Magical Mystery Tour( I am The Walrus)--guys who love The Beatles and do so much justice to the incredible catalog--you probably either 1. don't like The Beatles in general 2. don't like music all that much 3. are very angry at the world or 4. kinda suck. You decide. Yellow mellow custard...

  • @tutlax ...Exactly well said! These guys tackle what is seemingly the entire Beatles catalogue , and recreate the songs in such a way that I never thought I'd hear again...and it's LIVE! If I were a Beatle, I'd be proud of these fellows and the fine way they have kept the songs alive and vibrant. ...I wonder if they do home parties?

  • @tutlax WELL PUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ellem52.

    My exact thoughts!

  • Jimmy Vivino!

  • NICEEEEE

  • They are coming to do a show here in a few weeks and I can't wait. I've seen "1964 - The Tribute" twice and I love that too because they visually recreate the show as well as the music but they only do songs up to the point where The Beatles stopped touring so I always want to hear the later stuff as well. Absolutely can't wait to see this band.

  • This is my favourite Beatles song..

I think it's just one of the coolest songs ever recorded.

There's something about it.. I can't really explain it.

There's never been another song like it - before or since..

Just amazing. It still gives me goosebumps every time I hear that incredible opening.

These guys really nailed it.. perfect.

  • @retroclipps - Well said friend; this song is absolutely trascendental; it's like youu can feel and see those magical and mysterious years from where this song originates changing. Uncanny, special. I remember reading in the 80's when ask about where he got his inspiration for his unique sounding music, a certain new age artist said that he was just a tool for god and his mind and hands where the instruments for this higher power! Makes me wonder about the Beatles...

  • incredible, absolutely incredible

  • 18 dislikes? Really?

  • OMG..............I am sitting here at my desk listening to The Beatles album, Magical Mystery Tour which features 'I Am The Walrus'. Having had no past reference to what The Beatles would have done while recording this song in a recording studio, now any possible controverted memory of The Beatles is simply replaced with The Fab Faux...............as the Beatles song progresses on, all I can see in my mind is the Fab Faux from this video.................it is simply incredible!

  • Can't wait to see them this Thursday in NYC

  • holy crap.. Paul at the begging sounds like the tf2 soldier

  • You should see them play in person. Unbelievable!

  • He really nails it

  • maybe this is the psycodhelic's song... or revolution 9

  • that looks like michael brecker on tenor???

  • I've seen them do this in person at least four times. It ALWAYS brings welcome chills!

    Bravo, bravo!

  • GO WILL

  • GREAT JON ALL AROUND. NICE BEARD RICH!

  • If you werent impressed by that , there is something wrong with you....or you are just plain jealous.

  • he just needs the slapback delay effect on his voice... one of the reasons why original sounds better

  • i don't care if he's not lennon this is still f*cking brilliant!

  • I wish that singer sounded more like Lennon. Maybe he needs to smoke more and do a lot more weed to get that raspy quality. Also, too many horns.

  • @paktype your out of your mind. hes not John Lennon. the band are doing it their why. and they sound good. wake up! mindless

  • they need a better john lennon voice .... i mean they are on Letterman and they sound fucking kick ass , but if i am going to nitpick about anything it is about the john lennon voice ... this guy is a good singer and his drumming / drum sound is totally Ringo-esque ...but the Lennon voice ... eh , the weak spot in my opinion ....still , this is pretty kick ass .

  • Absolutely bloody brilliant!!!!

  • If you want to see the absolute worst cover version of this song in the history of music, watch Jim Carrey destroying the vocals. Some people should stick to doing what they do best and he certainly does not know how to sing at all. It was a disgrace to the Beatles good name and he also made comedians look bad in the process. Thank God for the Beatles and thank two gods for The Fab Faux.

    Paneeks/Boston

  • Awesome version - really has drive and momentum.

  • The best Beatles tribute band in existence... Why? because they can play ALL of their songs well.

  • The Fab Faux are amazing!

  • Per a previous comment, I think the vocals are pretty damn good, can't fault the guy too much for not being John Lennon. He gets some of the nuances of Lennons singing though, very impressive.

  • Wow... simply awesome!!!! Continue to carry that torch... Carry that Weight man, Carry that Weight!!! :)

  • The music is NEARLY spot on but the thing that bugs me about this band is the vocals. They make such great efforts to reproduce the music and essence of the songs but the singers sound nothing like the boys. Still great stuff though.

  • @TheJLBlove Technicly, a Liverpool Accent sounded much like an American when singing some songs. On others it is as diffrent from an American accent as a Chinese accent (no offence if any is implied)

  • excelent¡ so great cover :D

  • absolutely incredible. What a gift they are!!

  • Listen - Romantic Bothers "FLOWERS"! Great dance:)!

  • i've seen them in new york they're really good, closest thing to seeing the beatles

  • Saw them live in LA 2009 and SF this year. Truly a transcendent experience and frankly I was never a big Beatles fan before hearing the Fab Faux live (I was only 4 during Beatlemania). I already bought my airline and show tix for the October 2010 show in LA! BTW we met Rich Pagano (the drummer) in the hotel in LA and he gave me a copy of his "Sugarcane Buttercups" CD....GREAT MUSIC. Check it out.

  • OOPS...I mean "Sugarcane Cups". I was eating peanut butter when I posted "Buttercups" :-p

  • Comment removed

  • Pshaw... Where's the costumes? xD

  • seeing these guys tomorrow

    so pumped

  • millerj888-

Well, they don't put in EVERY single sound. In the original, if you listen closely at the end, you can hear someone talking. I've heard that it's lines from King Lear, but I'm not sure.

  • thanks! really starts the morning off.

  • Put a slapback effect on his voice and it will be Lennon

  • ALL versions of I am the Walrus are great, hands down.

  • I'm sorry. YOU are certainly NOT the walrus.

  • @nobodady1 LMAO

  • Jim carrey's version is better...

  • GOOD LORD !!!

    why did they stop ?

what's one more minute ? the genius of the song (well one of many) is the ride out. the the bass / cekko pattern descends yet the high strings ascend and while neither section is playing the same notes, they somehow crest at the same accent point.

    pure genius.

  • the beatles original is by far the best.

but oasis' version is by far the best of all the covers

  • I agree. It would have been great to hear Liam Gallagher do the vocal here.

    Or, of course, Julian Lennon.

  • @KUTVgroucho

Why? Liam Gallagher sucks and he ruins any Beatles tune he tries to do. You brits need to get over those overrated lameasses.

  • I'm an American who recognizes a fairly accurate (yet stylized) John Lennon imitation when he hears it. I've heard Gallagher's vocals over the years and your assessment is off the mark. "Ruins"? Please! I can hear aspects of Lennon's tone and intonation in Gallagher's voice. I don't get that from the FF singers.

  • @KUTVgroucho

Julian Lennon, maybe. Liam Gallagher? Not a chance. He's a nasally wannabe.

  • so true Lame Gallagher is a beatle want-a-bee..

  • not bad at all

  • When Paul Mcartney was asked in a interview, who his favorite bass player is, he answered, without hesitation, Wil Lee.

  • it a decent cover better than most. But you just can't beat John's performance on this song. He made it in a way that only he can sing it perfectly. Bono does great on Across the Universe but they turned all the songs into something else.

Beatles songs are hard to cover altogether the instrumental music is too much of a challenge but all the songs fit the beatles vocals better than anyone elses. Hopefully people might usderstand this

  • These guys are good but Basalisk172 hits the nail on the head. No one quite like The Beatles. Lennon's voice is outstanding on the recorded vesion of this.

  • yeah i had a few typos though :P

  • FWIW, YouTube does not do these guys justice. It's cool for sure, but you get an even better feel for just how good these guys are when you are there. I've seen them about 20 times now. They used to play the Bowery Ballroom all the time and you could get in for $20. Those were the days. Now, they outprice a lot of major acts (bummer). They have played Radio City and the Beacon.

I recently saw them do Sgt Peppers (it was the 1st set) at the Wellmont Theater. It was tremendous.

  • "There was a downside, though: as a product of the recording studio, most of the Beatles music after 1967 couldnt actually be played live." That's a quote from today's NY Times, cellist, composer, and MIT Media Lab professor Tod Machover, who designed the "hypercello" that Yo-yo Ma plays, when performing Machover's compositions. RE: earlier discussions here about the degree-of-difficulty of what Fab Faux have accomplished.

  • MikeyRB77 The Fab Faux are not a cover band. They treat The Beatles canon as an orchestra treats Mozart. They simply recreate the written music as well as they can. The London Philharmonic doesn't look much like Beethoven but they get by,,,

  • More perfectly put, I cannot do.

    Well said, ellem52 !!

  • @Margebird I agree, totally! They are FAB!

  • Fab Faux, as LPO, have all the original sounds but one. I have a lot of respect for them. The most important thing about The Beatles were the voices. Individual & unique the voices are a big part of why we react to Beatles records. This guy has a great voice but it's nothing like Lennon. On a great cover like Joe Cocker WALHFMF you can bring your own style but if, as you suggest, Fab Faux are trying to recreate the music faithfully then it all falls down on the voice. As a cover it's great.

  • @ellem52 An orchestra is a cover band too....

    Nothing wrong with it.

    Or a cover band.....

  • @ellem52 Well said. Beatles "tribute" bands are descended from Elvis imitators and would never have let the drummer sing "Walrus" (nor ever attempted it for that matter).

  • @ellem52 - very well put, Mikey.

  • they're not suppose to

  • Hey Guitar73,, That's the world renown Will Lee and he's forgotten more about music than you'll ever know. Oooops was that the break whistle? You'd better get back on your forklift. The Fab Faux Rocks

  • their bass player bothers me though

  • their know as the best beatles tribute cover band in the world

  • not bad but not good either.

  • Freddy Kreuger on keyboard!

  • HHAHAHA omg! man! u just Cracked me up!! it Does look like Freddy Kreuger with this sweather XD

  • Sounds fricken great!

  • great singer...great band!

  • indeed, nice cover... way better than the Oasis-version I just watched

  • WOWOWOWOW!! That was better than 90% of the musical guests Dave has on his show these days! I don't believe the Beatles ever played this live, so it's the best live version I've ever heard!

  • Well one of the guys is one of Dave's band members...another guy's from Conan's show, lol.

  • Wow! This is by far the absolute best cover of I Am the Walrus that I've ever heard. Spot on, just perfect in every way!

  • Totally cool!

  • they didnt get all the lyrics right

  • The Classical Mystery Tour are so much better.

  • i am cryin

  • going to their show tonight in boston

  • they played at my school!!!!!!

  • they definitely nailed it...awesome job!!!!

  • Good, but check out "The Eggmen" doing Walrus. Much better version-more to the record.

  • Amazing. Simply amazing. Spot on. There is nothing like real strings playing real music. Thank you for the string arrangements, Sir George Martin! And thank you for the songs, music and the memories my wonderful, fab Beatles! And thank you Fab Faux for keeping the dream alive. Sorry, John, the dream is not over...yet! Your music will live forever!

  • this was pretty much prefect.

  • the music was absolutely spot on and brilliant. those strings are ace.

  • I can't wait to see these guys in February.

  • very awesome cover.

this would be a great band to see

  • i saw these guys at the stone pony in asbury park the best cover bealte band iv seen or heard

  • dunskie, the keyboard player is Jack Petruzelli.

  • Is that Mark Hudson on keyboards with Paul?

  • Oh Lennon

  • These guys are good, especially that drummer's voice. Spectacular.

  • lots of drugs

  • This is a great version! Thanks for posting it. Please check out our live version on my channel. It packed the dance floor every time we played it.

  • Check out Brad Delp ( from Boston) and Beatlejuice. Brad's vocals were amazing...and he was so understated..

  • Nice

  • Look how they did it with minimal sampling I wonder why the Beatles never did, or why no one proposed they did. They certainly could have did slightly stripped downed versions of many of their songs.

  • ...at the time they were doing things that hadn't been done in a recording studio...when they first started recording, the songs were what we called stripped down....but only because the technology was so primative...as technology got better, The Beatles started experimenting more.....multi-tracking etc...

  • All i know is these guys rocked!

  • PS As entertaining as this back-and-forth is about live musicianship on complex material, I think the Beatles are the greatest music creators and performers of the 20th century. They covered more artistic ground than any of their generational peers, showed unbelievable artistic growth and adaptability, and were the most productive in sheer volume of great works of songwriting and signature performances. In the big picture, they have no peers.

  • Absolutely correct!

  • Imagine the luck--Sir Paul himself on Letterman last night, another Beatles anniversary, performed "Get Back" and a new tune. Both three-chord rock. At last I understand, he could have done anything he wanted. Never really needed all that studio wizardry from Revolver on, cause being a Beatle means you always have the truest putt, the straightest, longest drive--any of the mechanical or cognitive tasks involved in playing music, you're unbeatable. Like Harry Potter.

  • LOL! So much meaning, with a punchline at the end. That's fantastic.

  • Last try. Steely Dan Home At Last The Making Of: on youtube. About 2:30, Walter Becker (half of Steely Dan) made the exact same point—about himself! A sobering experience on Aja album, seeing how he and Fagen were outclassed for musicianship by studio & jazz players they hired. Beatles nor anyone else ever live-performed Walrus, as-recorded, when the Beatles were alive. Its as illogical as saying, Robert Trent Jones will always beat everyone at golf, because he designed the golf course.

  • Last try? No, I understand perfectly that you consider Will Lee a better bass player than Paul McCartney and this session drummer a better drummer than Ringo and a better singer than John Lennon. And you made it clear that in your opinion " John, Paul, George and Ringo couldn't have put this performance couldn't have put this performance together on a million dollar bet". So, I'd say at this point I've deduced, you must be a proud studio musician. And I would now have to agree with seilerbird.

  • Why would any rational person (let alone a "pro musician" ) think the Beatles incapable of performing there own composition live with the same backing of strings, horns and samples as Will Lee and his group of studio musicians? Utilizing computers, sequencers, strings, horns and the latest effects and wizardry - The Fab Faux came very, very close to a recording made in September of 1967 on a four track analog recorder. The Fab Faux are very talented - but they're not superior to The Beatles.

  • We'll never know. Beatles never performed live after 1966. If it was easy to get a perfect take one-time-through, why do you suppose brilliant producers like George Martin take weeks or months, recording tiny bits at a time? Look at video of their live performances--miscues, mistakes, false endings, etc. All the long, orchestral, highly-arranged George Martin-style tunes came later, performed with endless retakes, overdubs, layering--often not in the studio together at the same time.

  • Actually they did perform live after 1966... Look up "Let It Be" and watch film of the performance

  • "This is what the Beatles would have sounded like with modern recording equipment?" Yikes! With all due respect, John, Paul, George and Ringo couldn't have put this performance together on a million dollar bet. This is some of the most demanding virtuoso playing you'll ever see--no overdubs, isolation booths, second takes--it had to work real-time first-time, with all 20+ players performing incredibly intricate and demanding parts. I'm a pro musician, and I'm in awe. Respect it!

  • damn they did a great job

  • This is the balls, to re-create live with dubbing, horns, strings, loops, & vox right on target...this is shit...musicians, real musicains...know how painful it would be to put this together & play it live on national tv...if you knock it...give me a f-en break

  • ~~sitting on a corn flake~~you've been a naughty girl, you let your nickers down!!~~What poetry; and poetry set to music is a song! And, this is one of the best versions of this song I ever heard. It is also very hard to play ANY instrument and sing lead to that song at the same time. That's why recording a tune is a one-at -a-time thing. First they do all the vocals, then backup vocals, then the drums,guitars,piano/organ and bass--not exactly in that order.

  • I have heard most of the versions of I am the Walrus and my two favorites are this one and Jim Carrey's with George Martin producing.

  • good!

    oasis version sucks!

  • wau lo sacan igualito..vivan the beatles!!!

  • i think this was pretty good actaully

  • I think this sounds alot like what the original would have sounded like if they had modern recording tools. Of course his voice is way different from John's... but that's just the way it has to be.

  • GOO GOO GA JOOB

  • lol usually the singer is a guitarist, a drummer...that must be hard

  • google grant hart and husker du

  • Love the Fab Faux.

  • will lee is such a great bassist

  • danm drumming and singing

  • Big deal - most bands could do the same. Fab Faux don't look anything like the Beatles, nor do they sound like them - they're just a covers band, not a tribute band - big difference.
