  • @davettalashley Check out my playlist;

    Rainwater Harvesting

Many types of setups that vary in costs, small barrel projects to large scale systems. Depending on where you live a metal tank or cement cistern may suit your needs. Thanks for stopping by.

  • Plastic-mart is a nationwide distributer. Shipping is expensive unless you piggy back on another shipment to your location. $550.00 for the PURE1000WA model

Shipped from Washougal to Spanaway for $217.00

  • How much was that large cistern?

  • The green hose manifold cracked on the seam. Need to apply pvc cement on it.

  • Can you use the water for washing .In shower etc?

  • @marty4379 The back flow preventer should hold at 40psi if the harbor freight pump was connected to my hose plumbing. Tanks just had a fresh dosing of rainwater. Wife would be mad if I did that, maybe in an ermegency.

Not filtered from the tank, yet.

  • Excellent video. Thank you for sharing.

  • Catch your rinse water from washing dishes and use that to flush your toilet instead of using your rainwater harvest. That's what I do.

  • Next step, I think we will get some statue

like a pissing angel or dolphin...whater that will spill out into the pond.

Need a pressure pump for a fire emergency .

  • Buyer beware,

don't buy the brown plastic rain gutter screens, they will curl in the suns heat. The white ones don't warp in the heat.

  • Very, very impressive!

  • I've disconnected the hoses and manifolds for the winter before it freezes. The tanks and barrels are all topped off for an emergency water source.

  • Nice pond water barrels i use myne to fill my pond also,

  • 7 17 2009

Here is an update. I'm keeping my water tanks topped off with muni water.

My 1650 gl capacity ran out within 3 weeks after the last rain in late May.

    All outdoor watering only.

If I'm really serious about this I'll have to get some more tank capacity this is too dinky

    oh well

  • Plastic-Mart Com is the best place to buy Plastic water tanks

  • $550.00 for the PURE1000WA model

Shipped from Washougal to Spanaway for $217.00

Cost for 100cu ft of water here from Rainier View water co., $.85.

    2 weeks for delivery.

Tank arrived very good condition, a few scuffs.

Makes me secure knowing I'll always have water.

    Strurdy!

Can roll it around the yard when emptied.

Big enough, but not so oversized as to not fit in a moving van.

  • Nice job. Well done. But you probably should have put shutoff valves at the tanks outlets.

What if you get a crack or leak in the hose bib? You would have to drain the entire tank to repair it.

  • I had some walmart hose shut-offs (yellow plastic), they froze and cracked.

I'm building a stand to raise the water level to be equal with the green tank.

The manifold has 4 on-off knobs.

  • After hurricane Katrina, I really started to seriously think about water, power and food. This project was an emotional response to that catastrophy. I used the 2008 stimulus check to buy the water tank and solar panels.

  • Ah the pleasure of swirling your hands in the rainwater :):) great work ...now how about a composting toilet?? :):)

  • I've been reading the Humanure Handbook about this. 1/3rd acre is to small for toilet composting. Health department regulations etc. To many county regulations about waste disposal Cat and dog solid waste disposal along with fireplace ash is something I'm working on. Re-plumbing to drain graywater to ornamental plants, more practical but building codes, re-sale of the home etc....get in the way. Maybe if I owned this property, would consider this area.

  • I'm using this for my washing machine.

Watering an Apple, Pear,Cherry, Blueberry Orchard.
