For all of you who are tired if the industry and wish music nowadays was more like this.. check out Whicha Mirrors, coming soon. Look out for it. Add on facebook.
I used to steal lyrics from this album and give it to girls as poems. They were like, this beautiful you wrote this for me? Then the draws came off..Thanks Billy!!!
@ItsPeezyBaby I'm 41 and grew up in the 80s. I felt the same way about popular music then(loved music of the 60s and 70s more), but it changed. Too many memories associated with Prince and Madonna to say it's all bad. I have an "80's stuff" playlist here and they're both on it. I yearned for the musical change that this band was a part of.
I am utterly unaware of today's music. But I just wanted to point out that anyone who complains about the state of it, probably sounds like their parents did in the 90s. BOO! Welcome to adulthood, kids.
@schmittelt eh, for the most part the criticism lies on pop music, or mainstream music in general - probably because the subtle consumer-capitalistic "corporate sell-out" aspects are becoming more and more obvious. i personally have 100% hope that the modern "radio music" is dying, and people will slowly start to realize the real talent in the music community - not just some fake hasbeen who sold his self to a company for recognition.
@haproductions01 Several months ago there was a comment made by someone much younger than I which said that they wished music would go back to being how it was. I replied to say that they should learn how to make music and do it themselves. That is, of course, the answer.
@schmittelt hahah i remember this Im 23 and i use to listen to this song in primary school :) and the offspring SMASH cd lol and now days im finding the musik that the new generation of kids are listening to is filth lol im 23 and already starting to fade out of whats "in" I still skateboard, and every ones on SCOOTERS NOW? its true what they. fashions cyclical..
@schmittelt I'm 17, and I can't stand all of that Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga crap. There is some good modern day hip hop and pop, but a lot of it is just cheap, plastic, corporate crap.
@Murderknobz That's a valid opinion (all opinions are...mostly). My take on it is that it doesn't matter what kind of machinery the music is made on, who makes it or what one thinks of the people making it. Bit by bit over the decades (I'm currently 42), I dropped the notion that it's "My" music and realized that it's free...and I'm not talking about money. Child of the 80's raised on music of the 60s/70s. Pretended to hate the 80s, imagined the revolution that happened in the 90s.
@schmittelt Do i detect a hint of condescension? in any case all im trying to say is that 2000+ music just seemed to lack a little, pre 2000's you could listen to these songs in your 40's,50's and even 60's, could you find me some music these days i could listen to in my 40's? Rap, dub step, house, electro...no, im not saying there is'nt any good 2000+ music all im saying is it lacks behind previous generations.
@schmittelt my parents loved the 90's and all my friends parents.
you have the totally wrong idea about people and their music taste.
i find that kids raised with 90's music tend to like that better than the garbage today. i know lots of kids who have no idea who the smashing pumpkins are or queen, and those are the kids who like music like lil wayne, and their parents probably didnt pay much attention to them. letting them listen to that shit :P
@blcrcl1 You really gotta take a look at the comment I was responding to to make sense of what I said. I like quite a bit of todays tunes, but overall I feel pretty empty. Whereas in the 90's I felt pretty excited to step into the music store for a new release.
@schmittelt I don't think it's that. I honestly believe it's the quality of the music. My father is a musician who's main influences are Stones, Beatles, Zeppelin, bands from the 60s and 70s. But his band also covers tunes like Plush, Jeremy, Rooster and Black Hole Sun. The entire grunge/buzz movement in the 90s made for awesome music. The only three 90s bands my dad has a problem with is Tool, Nails and Deftones. Tool because it's too random and Trent and Chino because it's too electronic.
THERE NOT NOW THAT I GET TO LISTEN TO HIP HOP RIP

In spite of their being some really good music in the 90's.. see above for example, most of it sucked just as badly as today's mainstream music.
