Transcription from RNA to DNA is extremely error-prone; normal cells will try their best to avoid that. Their mechanisms are very different from normal process and the general viral reverse transcriptase.

Normally, you don't want to do that. However, I think that if we can somehow disrupt the reverse-transcriptase, which is unique to viruses, from translate its viral RNA into DNA. We should be able to slow down HIV or completely eradicate it.

Transcription from RNA to DNA is extremely error-prone; normal cells will try their best to avoid that. Telomerase and retrotransposons are the only two other known processes for reverse transcription for Eukaryotic cells. Their mechanisms are very different from normal process and the general viral reverse transcriptase.

The use Antiretroviral Therapy has a clear effect on those suffering from HIV as they will live longer and in general a better life.
For Antiretroviral Therapy to work there must be a HIV virus in the fist place otherwise the Antiretroviral Therapy is treating the patient to something else.
