They dont want you to dial *72... you dial 0 to accept the call, you gotta have money on the account already to accept it. The reason some people get a bunch of calls all of a sudden from a jail and don't know anyone in there is because sometimes inmates just dial random numbers to mess with people cuz they have nothing better to do, it happens all the time! :-)

Seriously?! Global Tel Link is the telephone service provider for many correctional facilities; it is a legitimate business (although they charge an arm and a leg for the service). Hopefully no one you know ever gets arrested....they'll rot in jail before you answer the phone!

THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME. If you get a collect call from Global Tel Link, do not answer as it is a SCAM!!! They want to you to dial *72 and activate your call forwarding to another number, so all your calls will be forwarded to a different number to somehow scam you and all the other people who call you. They will tell you one of your family members got arrested and you have to call "Detective Miller" to find out who it is. I AM CONTACTING THE POLICE.
I called the Sheriffs Office and they verified that this was a scam.......That's good enough for me....It sounds like the other response are from people working the scam. They don't identify the inmate....rediculous. They repeat the call many times. Use your head!

Yes, it is a scam. We live in North Carolina and started getting 10-20 calls a day from Craven Correctional Facility in Texas. I am registered on the do not call list. I called them and told them to block the calls and they wanted my name and address for "security" reasons even though I am calling from the number they are spamming. Report that.
